What better way to bond with your Japanese coworkers than by going to see a bunch of half-naked men spinning on poles in the street 🤗

The Hida-Furukawa Matsuri was a lot of fun! Actually it is pretty common for men to be dressed like this at festivals in my experience...but the pole spinning isn't something I've ever heard of before 🤠
I really enjoyed my time at the festival and would definitely recommend it as a stop if it happens to align with your itinerary! It happens every year on April 19 and 20, so be sure to book your hotels wayyy in advance if you are interested as it is a pretty small town
As I included at the end of the video, there are often lots of smaller, local festivals in various towns around Japan, and I really encourage you to give those a try if you are interested and it works with your schedule! The challenge with this is that honestly it really is hard to find information about countryside festivals online, even in Japanese...
Let me know down below what you thought of the festival and if you've ever been to a Japanese festival before, how did it compare!?

That was so interesting! Thank you so much. Fun to meet your co- worker friends too. Such a feeling of community even with lots of visitors. Still not sure how they balanced on what looked like a giant Q-tip without all of their organs spilling out. I think I held my breath each time. The contrast to your old community was interesting. Seemed like the same level of intensity. Both were chaotic but seemed very organized at the same time!

Recently found out about your channel, and I've been binging it non-stop! I know it might be a weird question, but, do you have any advice for someone that's Japanese that cannot read/ write in their native language? I think I'm going back to Japan, in a month or so. Any advice about adapting in Japan, or about Jobs? ( The obvious thing is to learn but anything else?)

I asked a few of my friends and they basically all said “I don’t know, tradition?” but I’m sure there’s more of a historical reason than that 😆

Can we please stop making KZfaq videos just ads now I literally have to listen to ads to watch the video without KZfaq red and I have to spend part of the video listening to a plug for a sponsor so over KZfaq might as well just listen to audio books on Audible or something sorry but it’s just becoming a huge thing and some videos have multiple ads in them feels like cable where a 30 min show now has 10 mins of ads.

I do understand where you're coming from. However, if you want to be a supporter of the channel/ the acting person behind the camera, you'd actually be happy for them because they're making money from what they love doing. Creating content for the viewers every week.
