The RG series is just perfect. I've played a ton of high quality Schecters and Jacksons but Ibanez, they are just 1 step above when it comes to budget guitars.
@nikkijackson2896

yes, i own 600 dollar Schechters and Jacksons. I own two $300 ibanez guitars (Rg and higher end Gio) and they blow them out of the water. Super low action, less buzz, better fret job, better tuners, better stock pick ups, faster skinny neck, light weight, and they have a nicer paint finish.
@leroyjenkins4811
@leroyjenkins4811 3 жыл бұрын
I’ve learned something about Ibanez guitars. The higher you go up in price, the worse the guitar is. I’ve purchased several of their made in Japan models and those guitars sucked. Lots of construction and hardware problems. Later on I learned the bulk of their budget line isn’t even made by Ibanez in Japan. Their budget and mid priced lines are made in South Korea by a totally different company. Ibanez just puts their name on them. The South Korean guitars are better than the Japanese guitars and cost less.

@@leroyjenkins4811 I can't agree. I have a Prestige Ibanez and the quality is superior to that of my RG in almost every aspect. That said, the guitars sound totally identical because my RG has the same pickups as my Prestige.

@@nikkijackson2896 Mine is a 2016 RG652AHMFX. I'm comparing it with my RGR321EX and the difference is very notable in the fretwork, finish, nut and bridge quality. Both guitars are great. I've set them up myself and they are a dream to play, unlike my Schecter ATX Blackjack which has a tune-o-matic bridge that I can't seem to set-up right.

The RG is a nice series. Good job, as always. By the way, Ibanez measures its action at the 12th fret, and their suggested heights are 2 mm for the bass side and 1.5 mm for the treble. They had to do something just to be different. (I’m an RG owner myself.)
@TigerCarpenter
@TigerCarpenter 2 жыл бұрын
your comment answered the question I was about to ask I wanted to lower the action as much as possible, without causing the strings to buzz. not knowing what I was doing, I figured I can lower the thinner side of the bridge a bit more, and the thicker strings would buzz if lowered to the same height. so I raised the thicker side of the bridge 0.5mm (no measurements just eliminating the buzz). and now it sounds really nice, and I the practice became much easier / less tiring to my fingers. my question was: can we set the strings action at the different heights? lower on the thin strings side. and is it "normal" ? or would you rather raise both sides to 2mm for example for whatever reason. I'm a total newbie when it comes to the guitars. starting to learn at 51 y/o. wish me luck. cheers!

@@TigerCarpenter If you have a bridge that can set the individual string height (like in the video) it's way better to measure each string and set it to 1.5mm as it will follow the contour of your neck ie. fretboard radius - it feels much nicer to play than the Ibanez setup instructions. You will only follow that way if your bridge can't adjust each individual string height

I have an RG as well with a similar colour although mine is made in Japan, likely an earlier model. I had issues with the tuners so installed a set of locking tuners, I like the larger frets on the RG as it makes the neck a lot faster. I have a RG470 that I bought at 18 in 1993 and bought a RGIB21 over a year ago. Both sound completely different and I love them. I do plan on changing out the factory pickups and replace them with either DiMarzio Evolutions or Titans. The guitar sounds ok but could definitely sound MUCH better. Might have it rewired with better wire, not sure if it's necessary or not. After 30 years, I finally got the action lowered on it, plays so much better so I want it to sound the way it plays.

I moved from Canuckistan to Florida about 20 years ago. It's still strange to me to suffer through a miserable, hot summer and look forward to beautiful weather from November to April. That said, I'm proud of Canada that they legalized marijuana. I know people who've had career problems just for getting caught with small amounts of pot. I'm not a pot smoker myself, but that is total bullshit. And of course that kind of crap is still going on in many US states. Hopefully more rational folks will be making the decisions some day soon.

@Robstafarian

Dave sets neck relief using a 0.012″ (i.e. twelve thousandths of an inch) feeler gauge, as shown. Neck radius has no direct effect on neck relief, though string action can determine how much relief is required. As Dave's preferred string action shows, his standard neck relief is based on pretty low action. The following Premier Guitar article, from 2012, gives a pretty good overview of guitar setup procedure (I recommend ignoring Step 8 for now, as nuts can be tricky): www.premierguitar.com/articles/DIY_How_to_Set_Up_a_Fender_Stratocaster

Its cool, my doc knows..... its not like I am trying to hide it. I get asked when and how much, so I am honest about it, but it does come back +. Just throwing that out there for ya. Measurable amounts of cannabinoids can remain in a person's blood for weeks, depending on the frequency and method of intake. More frequent use extends said duration, hence medicinal users are quite likely to be flagged by tests. The most problematic aspect of such testing is the wholly-arbitrary, nonscientific standard for how the test results are interpreted: it is entirely possible for someone who is not under the influence of cannabis to be flagged, most notably medicinal users who maintain a regular dosing schedule. Meanwhile, muscle relaxers-which are considerably more debilitating-are not subject to such testing; patients are advised to determine said medicine's effects before driving.
