Reed Timmer was in Cedar Key, Florida to experience the storm surge of Hurricane Idalia. See the progression of the rising tides in the most intense area. Then, join the Ridge Riders on land to experience the eyewall of the hurricane in Perry, Florida. The aftermath survey of Keaton Beach, Florida, and the drone footage of Cedar Key sums up the toll.

Prayers to the Nature Coast in their recovery. I won't complain about the king tide 4 foot storm surge as it crept about 3 foot from my back door and then began to recede, from the creek that I live on in Gibsonton. I prayed so hard and God heard my prayers.

This is the most comprehensive footage of the Hurricane I've seen, quite a storm surge and winds. Had it tracked over an even more populated area, the monetary and personal damage would have been horrible with Tampa just to the southeast and other populated areas to the northwest. The hurricane stayed strong into Georgia and South Carolina. I still remember Andrew--I was in Florida just after, in Orlando, and other hurricanes since. I do not recall as many bad hurricanes in the three decades I was alive before Andrew, but also with population in Florida so much larger, risks have risen. The storm chasers here did a good job reporting, and have done a service for anyone considering riding out a hurricane near the shore--heed their video message, and do not tempt fate.
