I drove in a town where at least 75% of drivers did that to me all the time, changing lanes was almost impossible there because they took it extremely personally and sped up, honked, or flashed their brights at me when I tried to change lines with plenty of room and warning. And then if I did, by some miracle, they'd fly around me honking and flipping me the bird. Also I think a lot of people need to relearn what cutting someone off really means, seems like that term gets abused

You’re not supposed to have to brake when someone in front of you changes lanes, but in this scenario the cammer is making the whole thing a bigger issue than what it actually is. The SUV forgot to blink and that’s about the only actual problem with the SUV. It might’ve been close, but it was completely safe to change lanes there.

Didn't even need to tap the brakes. Simply choosing to not accelerate as soon as she saw the other vehicle start to change lanes would have avoided the situation.

You can forget the horn, brake pedal is more important. I almost don´t use horn at all, after all, horn is there to avert imminent danger. Most people use it to vent their frustration instead.

Amen. So many of these incidents could be avoided if people were just a little nice to each other. It won't save you from the red light runners, but a lot of the lane change ones could be solved by taking your foot off the gas for 2 seconds and letting them slide in.

And being a Dick is never a good look either.

Came here to say this, cammer was camping in SUVs blindspot, when SUV was going to merge due to all the cars the cammer sped up. What a piece of turd, dude needs to get taught some street lessons. What a loser.

First: It's a dickmove they made, and a dangerous one at that. Second: This is not a defence of the driver in the BMW(?), more of a thought. As a non-native to the Stockholm area, this person might not know that. Third. Even if it had taken more than 3 minutes, any time for a detour with a late arrival to your destination, is always far better than running the risk of not arriving at all. Usually it's very easy to get around/turn around and get back in your correct direction. There are some places, like Tingstads tunnel in Gothenburg that can be a bitch.

@@PerStenback I am not from Stockholm either (I live in Gävle), but I know that the above ground area of that intersection can be h*ll during rush hour. The tunnel used to be only like 200 metres, but since they upgraded it to the ”Norra Länken”, it’s much better. The tunnel used to be Stockholm’s 2nd shortest road tunnel, and now it’s one of the longest. And yes, it was a BMW. 1 Series to be exact. Probably between 2009 and 2016.

@@kaosab Ah, interesting. Did not know that. Though there are many places where the distance and time to switch to the correct lane, even if you do it as early as possible, are far to short. See my example of Tingstads tunneln, if you end up in the wrong lane, you might end up entirely in the wrong direction, on top of rush traffic. This is of course if you abide by the law and rules. Also, experience, and knowledge of the area/route ahead plays a massive role. If one knows that there might be issues getting over to a specific lane the further down you get, one should try and make the switch as early as possible, instead of cheating ahead. At least, that's how I see and feel about it. Feels like there are fewer and fewer that does this though. In my mind, I feel that the sooner I get over to my lane, the less of a headache it's for me. If I need to switch a lane and to that as early as possible, and then just needs to go straight, that makes my life easy. The rush people have to get "ahead" if frightening. Haven't had the luxuary of driving in Stockholm yet, though there are those that say they rather drive in Stockholm than in Gothenburg. Who knows. I find Gothenburg to be (relatively) easy, and instead have a slight respect for Stockholm.

@@PerStenback I agree. I’ve had my driver’s license for a year know, and I really know the meaning of planning your journey. I bought my first car in the summer of 2022, and since I love to drive, I drove as much as I could here in Gävle. But driving in a town with a population of 75 000 it’s nothing compared to a city with a population of 1 000 000. I was kinda nervous when I drove to Stockholm for the first time, but is not that bad as people say. OK, if you’re used to drive in small towns or at the countryside, it’s a huge difference. You might find it chaotic, but people in general are good drivers. And three things that I’ve learned from driving in Stockholm is: 1. Stay in the middle lane, becuase then you don’t have to worry about cars entering the motorway. 2. If the speed limit says 80 but everyone is driving at 100; keep up! 3. If you need to change lane, don’t hesitate! There is one part of the E4 (actually just north of Norra Länken) where (if you’re following my first advice) needs to change lane in order to stay on the E4. Just turn on you’re blinker, and slide in between two cars in the other lane. Be cautious and do it carefully. When the other cars is noticing that you’re about to their lane, they will speed up / slow down to make room for you. This works every time. And I would love to drive to / in Gothenburg some day! I see it as a challenge.

There was enough time to react don't you see he didn't get into a accident smart guy? What do you want him to do? Slow down until he is sure the car that is in the right turn lane with the right tune signal on, turns right...? I was in a simillar situation. There was a lot of traffic before a stop sign and only one lane. A guy in a sports car thought he could bypass some of us using the opposite lane, which was illegal. When he tried to merge to our lane, no one let him in. The guys on the opposite lane were honking him too. You should've seen him panicking and trying to escape the situation, it was hilarious. Point is, sometimes its worth teaching assholes a lesson.

This is a situation, when nobody in the right of way should back down. The other guy literally became an obstacle for opposite lane - after all, he was the one, who was supposed to be waiting. The only thing worth doing here is to avoid honking the horn, to prevent further escalation of the situation. Let the guy in fault have his ego crushed because of his stupidity. He will either learn from it, or will be forever doomed to keep repeating the same mistake.
