My shop took a dive right around the time gift mode came out. After a few weeks of that, I got fed up and started to overhaul my shop which led to a huge mess and self-destruction of the last little bit of life left that the shop had.

Talking to friends - they don’t shop on Etsy any more as there are too many mass produced products. I sell vintage one offs, Etsy isn’t what it used to be - I think I’ll need to find other platforms

This is standard for me. My slowest time is mid-April to mid-July. Though my sales have been slightly less than last year so far. Will have to use some of your ideas for my busy season, the last 4 months of the year!

I wouldn't say my sales dropped. I have more sales than ever before, but still not enough to call it a full time business. Well, I left my job so technically it is full time job but can be much better. I do a lot of improvements in my shop and think its on a good way.

My vintageempori has well sales seriously down since this gift mode came out. Before was gainfully self-employed from it then just like that zeroish. Customers used to buy vintage gifts of me lots of repeats and favourites now zero . Apart from 2 customers purchase via this gift mode and never heard from them since on follow up. No feedback very unusual. I noticed the only vintage sellers well if you can call them that Etsy pick sellers constantly rushed off their feet with sales for massive produced pottery items made yesterday etc. Very sad to loose my lively hood like this . Get messages to share Facebook Pinterest etc but that is not a good idea in this part of country as you get your premises turned over. Any advice nick weeks away from loosing my home thanks to this . Quite the opposite here. My sales have accelerated over the last five weeks and my digital products are not very giftable. I'm in a very small niche though.

My shops sales just up and stopped. I can’t see an influx of sellers making someone’s shop come to a complete halt. Zero sales in weeks, never had an issue like this before. I think this gift mode has ruined the site.

Thanks for this interesting post. Despite all the problems listed, I have to say that I am selling more every month. Last year was a bad year because I couldn't take much care of my Etsy shop for a variety of reasons. I saw Nik's channel for the first time in December last year. And his advice convinced me. I started posting 1 new article every day absolutely consistently, saving a video for each article, correcting mistakes I made in old articles, etc. That's a lot of work and I still have a lot of skeletons in the closet. But I'm retired and have plenty of time. From March/April 2024 I noticed sales increasing. And in May I sold for the first time for $500. It may not be that much, but I'm confident I can increase that to $1,000 by the end of the year. But I have two other problems. 1. I sell vintage items. And with gift mode it would be very helpful to personalize these items. But I can't engrave names on an old brass plate, because that would destroy the whole product. I have no idea how to personalize vintage items. 2. I don't think this issue has been addressed on Nik's channel yet. Etsy changed its ranking policy last year. I live in Europe (Austria) and had sold most of my products in the USA, followed by Germany and Austria. Etsy has now decided to rank the items from its own country/continent higher than those from other continents. This means my articles are weighted higher in Europe than in America. As a result, in the last 1/2 year I have only sold 1 item in the USA and 2 items in Canada. If anyone has an idea on how I can get around this new ranking policy, I would be grateful.

My sales have definitely plummeted. I always have less sales around this time but not sure like this. I sell supplies so maybe I can make kits or something. I mostly sell Czech glass beads so that’s hard to customize.

I sell (and have sold for years) custom portraits that are fully personalized and the majority of my customers have always been gift buyers. My reviews for the 6 years I've been on the platform are ALL 5 star (just under 1,000 sales). And yet, my sales have tanked over the past year. I think its largely because there are SO many sellers willing to do a custom portrait for a few dollars so my price point is not competitive. But its a low as I can make it given the quality of my work and prints. One of my custom house portraits is an "Etsy Pick" which seems to make no difference at all. I'm out of ideas at this point.

Also, my listings are rarely under the titles and tags I have.

I sell digital wall art - To benefit from this Etsy Gifting revolution, I have started adding the word Gift (or its variations) in my description and tags. Can you suggest something better? 2. If the number of sellers has gone up by ~15%, but customers by ~1%, isn't it Etsy's responsibility to bring in more customers? 3. Can we find out which products are in the 1 million 'ring fenced' list? What to do to include my product in it?

Unrelated to this specific video, but pertaining to something you have touched on in certain others… For those who sell one off physical products (vintage, handmade, etc), when, immediately after making a sale, you recommend relisting a similar item (using the same listing that just sold), how quickly should you ideally have the replacement listing up? For example, if a red vintage blouse sells at 11 pm while the seller is asleep, but one isn’t awake and on with their day to a point of being able to hop online and replacement list a similar an item (ideally, a different vintage red blouse) until 9 am, is that okay? Would you say that so long as we’re within 24 hours (but always, ASAP, naturally) we should be good? March was pretty good, but no sales in April

I have a niche craft product, and I started in Nov of last year. Was making about 5 sales weekly, and it fell off a cliff about a month ago. Even after running an ad campaign, I get at least a couple favorites daily but no sales. Maybe because it can't be personalized?

April is always a bad month for me, I think due to the fact that April is tax time for much of the world. However this April is the worst I've ever done on Etsy. My shop is plummeting and I don't know that it's ever going to recover. The customers seem to be different now. Once in a while I'll get a request for me to a them to my email list (an they will receive a discount). I a them, and they don't acknowledge my reply and aren't even using the discount code (and buying).

I think this increase in sellers is because people are being told that it is easy to make passive income on Etsy. I think some people are just throwing up junk on Etsy and I think Etsy is finally taking a look at this which is why jobs are getting shut down. I sell digital art and my sales have tanked but I do get sales if I run their ads 😳

I make jewelry, and I’ve always shipped items “ready to gift” in a lovely box tied with a bow (pics of which are in all my listings). However, if I try to turn on “offer gift wrapping” it forces you to charge at least $1. I can’t figure a way around it and it would be dishonest for me to charge extra for some people when I do already do this service for everyone. Any thoughts?

My etsy sales plummeted because they suspended my shop for no reason and without any notification of how to resolve. I appealed and have to wait for them to get around to it. Meanwhile, I am losing my income and they don't care.
