I am a fan of constantly eating because then I am less likely to die and I don't have to think about eating really. Worth the loss for me. Its actually kind of annoying seeing peoples hunger bars not full.

Meat vs G Carrots is about your eating habits. I like to eat the moment my regen falls off so carrots are better for me, combat or not. If you want maximum efficiency meats are barely better. Also the fact you don't have to breed for carrots like you do with meat (Which would no longer be an issue with Hoglin farms...) On the other hand it took me like 2 weeks of gameplay to make it through the steaks I got from leather breeding for my first enchanting station. I don't think hoglins are going to be OP, food in Minecraft is really more of an afterthought and you still need to AFK in the nether, rather than running around doing useful stuff in the overworld while your cow farm runs.

my opinion: +1 on 400 tick hoglin spawning -1 on nether to 256 I think automated food should harder, but still be feasible for semi-casual players. The 128block nether allows people who are unwilling to excavate giant perimeters to still have some fun building nether farms, and that would be a sad thing to lose.

You should do a Minecraft play through where you start in the nether and always respawn in the nether, and try to use the new nether mechanics to create a piglin farm and do everything necessaryto trade gold until you can make a nether portal and get back to the over world.

The dropshoot is useful for fall damage, but you can place the hoppers below the signs below the lava and the hoglin hitbox will keep them dieing to lava damage, and baby hoglins won’t die until they grow up

I really like these explaining videos) Like those ones where you explained how pickaxes and armor work, and this one with food explanation. Even though it's possible to just read this on Minecraft wiki, I didn't really care much about details, it was enough for me to know which pickaxe is better and which is worse. But it's still nice to learn these details, gives more understanding about game mechanics.

Oh thats quite neat. But an automated chicken farm can be done, you can take the eggs and ricet them into an autofiring dispenser with hoppers, so that it creates more chickens and squishes them, which gives you free chicken breasts. That seems like a nice overworld alternative, even though it can get a bit cloggy with feathers

I've played the game about 7 years ago or somewhere around that and yeah, food wasn't an easy thing to get. I remember having to go on an epic quest miles away just to find 2 cows and bring them home to breed for a reliable food source. Bread was also a thing but I never liked how few you get at any time unless you make a giant wheat farm, making it even more annoying with gathering and planting it back with the seeds taking all your inventory.

The automatic cow cooker serves me well for years now. Go past every now and then, collect a bunch of food and feed them. takes seconds and is tiny.

Tip: you can eat chours fruit to fully fill your saturation

I think that instead of changing the way hoglins spawn, what they drop, or moving the nether ceiling to 256, it would make more sense to just change the biome on top of the nether so that you can't have crimson forest up there. Sub-biomes.

I saw this vid a couple of years ago and recently used a hoglin farm when i started a new 1.20 survival world. it felt almost too easy, comical amounts of food for very little effort. In previous worlds i would make like a massive wheat farm and kill cows by stacking them in a 1x1 and breeding them, then put the food into a super smelter. this is so much fewer steps.

Hopefully, they will make the Nether Mushrooms renewable like they are in the Overworld. But there is at least one more Snapshot to add for the Bastions, not to mention pre-releases and successive versions of the update itself. Nothing is set in stone until 1.17 starts to roll out, and even that is no guarantee of future changes.

Yeah the remedy for this situation is to completely revolutionize the food system, it's not like nerfing this would address the underlying problem with how players interact with the mechanic being really uninteresting

I also think they should change the generation of terrain in the nether to 256 blocks height and remove the bedrock ceiling and replace it with something purely visual (and nicer to look at than bedrock) to keep the cave like feeling. The top of the nether is convienient for technical players but makes things often too easy for overpowered farms. It also breaks the immersion in the nether world. The nether still feels like an empty half done mod and not like an alternate dimension. There is still lots of improvement needed in my opinion. The same is true about the end dimension and the caves in the overworld. I find it weird that mods like biomes of plenty or twilight forest manage to generate more beautiful terrain and alternate dimensions than the main game. At least this upgrade is a big step into the right direction

I would love to see a food update. Everything comes to getting animals, breeding them and cooking their meat. It's the best and easiest good source. I would love to see pies, stews and other food sources to be buffed. Or even better, make so that more complicated food would restore more hunger than simple one

To be fair, Mojang probably does not intend for players to enter the nether roof. In that case it would be quite alot of effort to build a hoglin farm.

No matter how many times I hear your intro it still makes me bop my head :)

Keep in mind that if you have a source of emeralds, (this could be an iron farm and some toolsmiths, a gold farm and some clerics, or even a pumpkin/melon farm and some farmers,) you have a 2/3 chance to trade 1 emerald for 5 cooked porkchop with an un-cured butcher villager. This makes it possibly the best way to get food in the game, maybe even better than a hoglin farm for the effort put in, assuming we are talking about singleplayer. You also have a 100% chance to get 1 emerald for 3 gcarrots with a 1x cured villager. Opinions: The hoglin farm is a bit overpowered, but I don't really think it should be nerfed, because the point of hoglins was to be able to get food when living exclusively in the the nether. Instead of hoglin farms being nerfed, i think the whole food system should be reworked. The existing one is unintuitive (given the hidden saturation value), and has only 2 best foods. Perhaps they should speed up eating things like sweet berries and melon slices, like they did for kelp. Also, moving the nether to y256 would make it significantly more difficult than it already is to make gold farms. Mojang please don't do this.

Lately i've been playing in Hardcore mode with natural regen disabled just to feel some of the challenge this game used to have back in the day. Game has gotten so much easier.

I love the idea of changing their drops to crimson fungi. I think the fungi could have a larger role to play - maybe they could be (another redundant) food source similar in value to apples, and I also think they could be a cool potion ingredient, or maybe, more in the vain of the current shrooms, they could be used to craft different kinds of fermented spider eyes that have different effects on potions.

ilmango is truly one of the best informers for those of us who play Minecraft from a technical point of view. I'd imagine most of us here try to industrialize this whole game.

I think any farm made above the Nether ceiling is OP. We've banned use of the Nether ceiling on our server. If a farm must be built in the Nether then the time taken to clear/spawnproof an area below the ceiling is enough work for the reward of the farm's function.

Food is so pointless and easy to get in Minecraft now that it doesn’t matter if it’s overpowered or not

This video is focused on the food, but frankly having an easy way to get leather automatically without having to deal with cows is what makes this really appealing to me. Like you said, food's kinda uninteresting anyways, but having the ability to set up multiple full enchantment tables if I so choose is something I rarely care enough to farm up to.

In my opinion the whole food situation is completely unbalanced and broken. They need to fix it entirely
