@@paulelderson934 "in this pack" is a weird way of wording it, Hose Pulley is a "vanilla" item part of the base Create mod. FYI: In "vanilla" create a superheated steam engine can produce MUCH more SU than a normally heated steam engine. If this behavior carries over to ATFC then using lava to run the coal forges at normal heat levels may impose a lower maximum SU output per steam boiler multiblock. If you want to check on Create's "vanilla" behaviors, checkout the blaze burner (coal forge equiv) and the way it interacts with a steam boiler when superheated vs. normal. FWIW in "vanilla" create the only way to superheat a blaze burner is via a blaze cake, so I guess that's the equiv for bituminous coal.

There is another thing to consider with the steam engine, you can only maximise its output with Bituminous Coal. Regular temperature coal forges will max out at half the heat capacity of a max size steam boiler, which honestly is plenty of stress units for most people. Adding Bituminous Coal will double the stress unit output, until the forge is no longer super-heated. Just something to consider.

One bituminous coal makes 9,3 buckets of lava. So yeah, that should be worth it even though you get double the stress units out of using the bituminous coal on the steam boiler directly. Edit: If you can produce lava continuously, with one coal forge melting cobble into lava, you can run 6 level 9 boilers continuously. That's a lot of stress units (884.736). Of course finding an unlimited lava source would be easier, but without chunk loaders you'd have to be very lucky if one was close to your base.

If you make an automatic lava farm, you should try to make a huge hole and create an infinite lava source.

@@racernatorde5318, you mean that they deactivated the mechanic where if you have a big enough volume of liquid and put a hose pulley, it will classify it as infinite?

@@racernatorde5318, interesting. I don't really see a reason for that. I don't think you can find a big enough natural pool, and creating one would be quite an endgame project.

@@thomasfplm There are some really large lava lakes in this pack. Some that stretch for 100-200 blocks. I have no doubts that you could find a >10k pool within 5km of any location
