Hi, great vid and what looks like an awesome product. I own a FlySky Nirvana with a JR bay, but it appears that there is no custom OpenTX 2.3 for the Nirvana when you download the custom firmwares. Do you, Joshua, or anybody else know anything about this?

Hey JB... would love to see this compared to the FlySky FRM302. Pawel also has custom OpenTx fw for his RadioMaster so he can get telemetry and run in serial mode.

Real quick for people who might not know. If you have a frsky xlite radio you have to put the radio in boot loader mode by holding the directional pad down in the middle where your pressing all four directions at the same time, then load the 2.3.... firmware for it to work

Hey Joshua, do you perchance know how to setup switches on Ghost for team race mode. "The Team Race menu supports assigning up to two switches (or banks of buttons) to the selection of the active receiver. These switches then support split-second switching between up to 16 quads." Is what manual says, but there is no information how to set these up. Thanks!

Hi Joshua. Does the lite version of the ghost have a dissadvantage to the big brother? It only has one antenne to transmitt. What does one antenna change? Thx

Joshua, can you please give me some help. I followed the tutorial and the radio and the rx are now seeing each other but when I power on my TX16S it gives an SD card WARNING. I think that I have to change from expected version of 2.3V0029 to something different but I have no clue as to what. Thanks for you videos and all the help you provide.

I use spektrum srxl-2 protocol serial protocols in betaflight. LQ is automatically read out via osd on betaflight (supposedly). I set the external radio protocol to ghost (correct?). However, for my LQ info, I just get a "9" that remains constant? Any setup video for the LQ? Or anything I might need to check to solve? Is LQ interprétation and scale same as tbs crossfire?

I bought Ghost but i can’t use it with my 9xr pro, and a very strange thing is that sometimes in the « mode » menu on the ghost module, i can chose protocol CRSF or protocol CRFU. I really don’t understand how a CRSF protocol can be displayed on a immersionrc product !!

I would love to see how much range Ghost provide when using a basic whoop 2.4Ghz antenna on the RX, instead of the heavy qTee. Would it provide more range than a FrSky RX on a tinywhoop ?

It seems that it has a future . there is a video test with a quad at 10km with 99rssi almost all the test and the lowest 95 rssi .

You can bind any Ghost receiver. Atto, Zepto, etc. Not any other type of receiver though.

I was wondering if wiring it to the TX pad on the FC was a typo in the manual. When I tried to use TX, it didn't work, so I used RX, and it worked. Something seems dodgy here. It might explain my failsafe issues with Ghost.

Out of all the possible radio systems (Tracer, Crossfire, DSMX, SRXL2, SBus, Inverted Sbus) which one is the absolute best specs wise?

Srxl2 is the lowest latency. After Betaflight 4.3 comes out use Ghost protocol.

Crossfire, its a no brainer . As good as this looks, parts are still in development and i can guarantee there,s gona be a whole load of issues with this until all the bugs have been sorted out.

Link control issue for Immersion RC Hybrid Got bf 4.3 rc2. Settings: serial hybrid wire connected to TX3 Radio is set to external module : GSTH. All leds for both rx and vtx are green so rx and tx seem bound. However no response in betaflight for this quad. Ports tab set to serial rx for uart 3. Any ideas? Thx!

So basically, as I can see the tx outputting the LQ value, but no other channel, this must mean the communication between the radio and the tx module is broken but all other communcations work (tx-rx,fc)? Also can't access the lua ghost script... .

My ghost module shows a red light and doesn't show any text. I updated to v1.0.2.1 Tx+Rx and after that I couldn't do anything. Any idea how to fix this? The updater no longer even recognizes my module.

When JB says there’s no telemetry and later says that LQ and RSSI are anyway on AUX8/Ch12... then I got lost. What else do you get with telemetry?

Telemetry is sent from FC to controller. LQ and RSSI are baked into the aux channel by the receiver.

Hey how u doing I had a question about my drone and you have a lot of knowledge! I have a tinyhawk freestyle 2. Long story short I crashed and broke off the connector head to the camera I already soldered the wires as best as I could to the microscopic pads were the head was and worked a bit but ripped off again can I solder those wires anywhere else on the board? If you can write back or anyone that knows that would be awesome! Thanks for all your knowledge!

Hey man, not that I'm aware of. Once stuff is ripped off, it's usually pretty much done unless you have some real serious micro solder/electronic repair skills and equipment. It would be the perfect time for you to upgrade the camera! Depending on what nano cam you end up going with, you'll need to adapt the wire/plug. Most that I've seen have plugs now, but probably won't be compatible with the TH plug, unfortunately. I put a Phoenix V2 on mine and had to make it a custom cable (The lens of the Phoenix V2 also sticks out the front some, so I would not really recommended it if you're doing lots of proximity and stuff where you'll crash nose first often... I just cruise mainly but when I do crash I always end up upside-down somehow, heh. (heavy battery). It's not hard, but messing with the wires and plugs can be time consuming and you need a few materials- the old plug from your broken cam can be joined/soldered, etc onto the new cam if you cut the cable and or rig up a plug- Don't throw that away! Don't forget some patience to put it together. heh. Or, if you got it to work once, maybe try again? but in my experience once things go bad like that, they just get worse usually, sorry. If you're just looking for an easy install, pick up the specific Runcam2 for the TH2 and it should just plug right in. It's in stock @ RDQ for 18 bucks, should be able to find it a few places. MiRaGEx485 hey thanks for the response man! On mine the plug port broke off on the flight controller side:/ so I was able to get rid of the plug and solder the 3 camera wires directly to the board (which was a nightmare) but again in an unexpected hard landing (crash) ripped the wires off the board:/ so my question was is there any way I can solder those wires somewhere else on the board or is the V-in the only place I can have the yellow camera wire to? Thanks for letting me know about the camera I still crash a lot so I’ll probably stay stock until I get better haha

@@ruvyfpv4398 Oh dang, that's rough bro. I assumed it was camera side, my fault. There very well may be some points you could micro solder to but that's gonna require very specific knowledge of that board and a ton of skill. So while probably possible, unfortunately I just don't think it's a feasible fix. Hopefully some one else can come along and prove me wrong and provide you some insight. All I got man, sorry. A full board replacement is 60 bucks, and that would put you soldering all the motors on and stuff which can be a pain, so you're probably better off just getting a whole new unit and keeping that one for spares and only doing that kind of work when you have to. We always need spares, right?! Haha. Welcome to the Tinyhawk life. I'm on my 3rd one, I think? You can always keep rippin' it line of sight until you get a fix, it's good practice! Best of luck chief!

That would be awesome if I could solder it to another pad but just don’t know enough yet to know if it’s possible or not u know!

@@ruvyfpv4398 Sorry to not answer directly. Not another pad- only one for video. What I was referring to was scraping the trace of that video pad to make a new solder point. Extremely difficult and risky. And feel free to quote me on the need for replacement to the wife. Lol. Best of luck.

I got mine today immersionRC Ghost , I use radiomaster T16s followed all JB steps and performed all updates, this thing doesn't work, i think it still has software compatibility issues. I use Diatone mumba F7 FC, S post connected to the Tx UART4, set up SLRx2 protocol, binding was successful , I did all the CLI commands that JB recommended, still can't get the transmitter controllers work while on Betaflight...

You need to update to the latest version of OpenTX or, better yet, EdgeTX. It will have Ghost support. You don't need any nightly build, as the regular release builds have Ghost support now.

Is there any open tx build that supports both 1) crossfire shot 2) fully supports all ghost functions ? 3) telemetry? I don't wanna give up on crossfire shot on all my quads with the crossfire nano receiver. I'm on that nightly build now.

Yes the ghost and expresslrs builds both support both crossfire shot and ghost. Also you can check opentx 2.3.12 which just dropped. It supports crsfshot but I'm not sure about ghost.

Ghost does not require any mods on any radio. They solved the "crossfire inverter mod" problem in software instead.

@@JoshuaBardwell I can't get Gbost to work with Nirvana and was told (after tons of research) I had to do some power mod. Crsf wors fine with my Radio. no mods. I was just going to buy another (your) Radio. If you can save me that money...AWESOME!!!! THANKS JB

At 3:28 you said to connect the Receiver output to a Tx pad on flight controller. Is that correct? Shouldnt the Reciever output connect to an RX pad ? I mean RX pad receives data and tx pad transmits data. And at 17:00 u you said "Tx3 is uart3, Rx6 is uart6". What ? Am I the only one who heard this ? Help me out if I'm confused or missing something .

It's like FPORT. It's going to an TX pad, too. And yeah... The number after RX and TX stands for the UART it belongs to. He only said RX6 as an example.

The baud rate situation is solved in the custom firmware. Telemetry is automatically at slower baud rate while control stays full speed. No mod necessary.

Hey JB great video is always right I got everything working except my receiver everything's wired right I selected everything you said to select (sxrl2) and my receiver tab none of the sliders are moving but the preview shows the quad just flipping around in flipping flipping flipping.... Any ideas?

Did you ever get it working? I'm having issues aswell..my radio sees the module, I'm bound, and I have all options checked and nothing..even did both the CLI commands. Pretty frustrating

@@scottyfpv5651 i have the exact problem, i can spin the motors manually the image is rotating wile i flip it around. but nothing moves on the reciever tab

@@MRdeLaat on the ghost transmitter, make sure you select srxl2 as the bind option. By default it's on ghost protocol, so it won't be recognized by betaflight (not official release anyway)

I was updating my crossfire module the yesterday and i noticed the notes talk about "FreedomTX" i cant seem to find much info about it. Anyone have any info about it i could look at?

As I understand it, it is a fork of OpenTX that they used to support the Tango 2 when OpenTX did not support it yet. I am not sure if OpenTX now supports Tango 2, if so, I imagine that they will discontinue FreedomTX.

Does No telemetry for Pure Race mode also mean no telemetry in your OSD? I might guess no. Doesn't feel like that big of a hit if I can still get my LQ and other things in my goggles.

Can you make a quick video on how to hook up an ImmersionRC Ghost Hybrid? I haven't been able to find a clear wiring diagram on how to connect that to a T-Motor Mini F7.

The 8fi you need is either in this video or oh the Ghost user manual. Signal to UART tx is the shirt version.

@@JoshuaBardwell Unfortunately the manual doesn't show a wire diagram for the Hybird but it does show a diagram for the Atto/Zepto and Tramp nano which doesn't help me much. This is my first build and can't figure out where the green telemetry wire and yellow serial wire go from the Hybird.

** with Tesla battery day coming today I think it would be cool for you to make a video about how the change in form factor of the new batteries will affect our hobby or if it will. With a larger cell size it doesn’t necessarily seem to be a good thing for RC cars but I’m sure the technology will have some impact on the hobby down the line. Thanks!

Do we even know the discharge rate of the cell yet? I have been playing with 18650 and 21700 cells a lot over the past 9 months for everything from 3inch up to 13in Xclass(and bigger). I am building for 6s2p to 6s4p for Xclass and soon 8s4p to get the voltage and current capacity needed to be safe with 18650 cells. The new cell is huge by comparison, like 4250 or something similar. If anything it would be good for really big RC cars in the 1:8 to 1:4 scale size range. But for drones? Not unless we are flying some true monsters like the 20-24in 18650 6s8p insane sized 1.5m mockup I have been toying with.
