This is Day 7 of the 'Kickstart your fitness' program. Today's cardio workout is a bit different from what I've done before. I have put in some new cardio moves geared to work your legs and arms while also getting your heart rate to come up so you shed calories and have fun (or I hope so anyway!). Grab some wooden spoons or anything else that is similar. If you don't have them, don't worry, you can do the workout without them as well.
Each day of the 7 day program has been designed to give you a full body workout. If you want to improve your strength, fitness, balance and flexibility, then this is for you!
As always, this is low impact. Please use your judgment on when to modify exercises. If you feel a move isn't good for you, please change the exercise to a move that is more suitable for you.

What a fun workout Jules! Loved the spoons and will be using them again, I hope. Will definitely be returning to this video. I threw some squats in the workout as well. Why not? Really appreciate the love you put into your workouts.

It’s an amazing thing - you start a long workout with reluctance, but in the process you get so much pleasure! Drum roll - WOW! It’s a pity that I live in an apartment building, otherwise I would definitely buy a drum!!! Thank you, thank you, wonderful Jules! Have a good day!

So true! I find within 5-10 minutes into a workout, it brings more energy and then we want to do more. It's always the starting part that is the hardest.

Drumming with the soup spoons was classic, had to smile. Back in the day of Jack Lalanne's tv show he sometimes used soup cans or cantaloupes.

We pulled this one down from the shelf, dusted it off, and worked along with you, with some modifications. I’ve found that the kickbacks give me some relief when other steps may be starting to make my knee hurt a little too much.

I Love “the spoons”! I’d heard about them in another video and thought, oh how silly. Then, when you brought them out for this workout, I thought, oh no, The Spoons. But I did them anyway and was surprised at just how much fun it was!!! I’ll confess that waaay back (fifty years!) when our oldest son was two, my husband called me a stick-in-the-mud. Our little two-year-old laughed and said, Mommy, you’re a mud stick! I sure got out of the mud tonight! Thank you Jules, for the spoons. And the music!

& days...made it through! I have not played with spoons since I was 4 years old! This was a really good cardio workout for me. Thank you for incorporating the warm up and cooldown plus stretch. I would likely have skipped otherwise. Now I am ready to move into the day. AND to find another 7 day challenge in your library.

Yet another FAN (and fun) WORTHY workout -- as in by the time we were finished with spoons, my room fan got turned up higher to help offset the sweat. So grateful for all the variety.

Just done this workout, loved it. The spoons actually made your arms work harder, I'm there convincing my husband to try the movement with the spoons and without, laughing at the same time. Love the balance exercises, managed quite well considering, hip stretches tough for me, I can't get my knees to the floor when sitting cross legged, they are kinda up near my ears, I stretched though. Thank you, will be doing this one again.

Oh, lovely Brisbane. Gosh, I miss Australia. I backpacked there for 7 months when I was 24…I have such fond memories. I worked on a diving boat for two months from the Whitsundays. What an experience. I think of Australia often and I cannot wait to go back one day.

@@margarethogan7745 My hope is to bring my girls when they are in their teens (if they are up for going with their mom!)...and, backpack again when I am in my late 50's or early 60's! I met a Brit when we were both 24 and on a snorkeling trip in Cairns and we totally hit it off and have met up several times over the years. We both travelled in Australia again together in 2004 and have met up in various countries over the years. We now both have kids but we hope to backpack together again when we are retired (maybe with a suitcase instead next time!). I will definitely be back. Whenever I want a peaceful image in my head, I think back to the days relaxing on Whitehaven beach and other tropical places in Australia. 💗Australia

Hullo Jules, Thank you for a fabulous all-encompassing workout.... Loved how the music changed tempo with the various segments... Enjoyed the spoons...wrists got a good workout too, channeled the drummer in me(pretended to...:)) With you, the intervals are slowly becoming less daunting,.... balance and stretching moves are soooooo soothing! :)

March 4, 2022-Just did this one for the first time. My heart is letting me know I worked out :) . My chiropractor is proud of me for working out & she definitely knows my health issues & the shape my body is in. Thankful for you Jules. Your videos are helping me...not too bad for a lady with health issues, including brittle bones, and who will be turning 66 years old tomorrow :)

So that's all 7 workouts done this week. This one was a challenge. Ive discovered over the course of this week the following: I hate standing ab work its so hard. my arms don't go straight up but tend to be forward of my shoulders, I found the bands quite hard to use because of this but modified the exercise. I have better balance than I thought. I am really stiff so need to do more stretching. My husband thinks Im mad and this was only confirmed when he walked in to find me waving wooden spoons up and down like a mad woman. Love these workouts. Ive never exercised so much as I have since I found this channel. Oh and I lost 3lbs! Thanks Jules. Have a great weekend.

Thank you for that:) I can just picture your husband walking into the room as you're waving the spoons up and down (even though I don't know what he looks like!). 7 workouts this week is amazing! Congratulations on that accomplishment and also, congrats on the 3 lbs lost! Woo hoo! Standing abs can be tough but you'll get better:) I'm glad to read you were able to modify the band exercises. What a wonderful workout. I added light weights to a few of these to ramp it up but LOVED this workout, especially adding the spoons. That shows why drummers have such massive forearms.

WOW! JULES!!! You did it again & again & again! What a wonderful sweaty workout. Well, it was really more sweaty because I have to add my running to get my heart rate up there. I really love these longer workouts. You have everything in there as usual, which I LOVE!!! I really enjoyed the balance workout. I'm so happy that I never drink & drive because if I did, I wouldn't be able to do that toe to heel maneuver LOL. I couldn't believe I had a little trouble with that one. I really hope you do more longer workouts like this one. THANK YOU JULES!

Hello Jules: This was the most fun I had for a while. I enjoyed the 30 second increments and especially the spoon drumming section. This will go on my "favorite" list. By the way, what did you eat before the workout? Your energy was contagious. A real mood booster. Thanks.

I love this type of cardio workout 😍 And the end with balance and stretch exercise are great. Thanks for doing this for us followers. A very small thing; i get a bit distrackted by the count down clock in three colours in stead of focusen on you and the exercise 🙈😅 Mayby thats just me. But i do prefer It in just one colour 😁

I am loving your workouts. And I’ve been exercising with you almost every day since I found you. Thanks for sharing! Could the workouts be titled “30 min Something” or “20 min Whatever” so we don’t have to start the video to find out how long it lasts? I’m usually looking for 30 minutes of exercise. Also, I could use upper body exercises to combat osteoporosis, like wall planks or something. I’m not good at making myself do it every day, but if I could do it with you, hopefully I’d be committed.

Hi! I’m very happy to read you are enjoying the workouts:). I don’t always put the time in the title because the time is located at the bottom corner of each video so I kind of thought it wasn’t necessary. I will see about adding it in future videos, though. I will give thought to the osteoporosis exercises. Any of the strength workouts will help with osteoporosis but I will work on adding in some extra exercises. Thank you so much for the suggestions/requests:). I appreciate it!

Hi Jules, A question for you: On the days I'm planning to do the 10 minute strength workout, should I be doing a cardio only workout? I avoid the all in one's but is it okay to do interval ones? Thanks!

You could do an all in one on the same day as the 10 min strength workout. You would be using the same muscles so it’s all good. Ideally, lift the heaviest weight you can manage safely when strength training (feeling a little bit of soreness or feeling the muscles slightly is a good thing the following day). If you do the all in one and 10 min strength workout, then you would do cardio the following day (any cardio workout including the interval workouts). I hope that makes sense.
