Жыл бұрын

Finally some half decent weather (mostly) to take my Honda CB125F motorbike for a run.
We set off over Penistone Hill on Haworth Moor, passing the walk to Bronte Falls and Top Withens, famed by the book Wuthering Heights and the Bronte Sisters.
Following the Trans Euro Trail (T.E.T) we pass through Stanbury and ride next to Ponden Reservoir at Scar Top before leaving the T.E.T. to ride through Widdop and down to Hebden Bridge.

I love the fact you were barely interested in bikes but now go out for rides just for the sake of scratching that itch!

Living on the dark side (Burnley) I ve travelled on these beautiful roads many times in the car and on the motorbike (although they do look like they are in need of some repair). I hated motorbikes and 17 years ago but took my test and can now only be described as obsessed 😂. Have nt heard the Dvorak music cotton tails for some years brought back lovely memories (not hovis bread in Howarth btw😂). Ride safe and enjoy.

First time watching your videos, really enjoyed it. Some interesting information and no annoying music.... I'd definitely give the Fox and Goose a visit, I was there last week. The beer is great and they have a lovely beer garden. I don't know if you know, but at 2:14 if you follow that road to the end, that's part of the off road TET. It comes out at Pecket Well, I did it on my Honda PCX 125... 🙂 Probably easier from the Pecket Well side then you come down the steep part not up it. Film it 👍

How to fall off a bike! Not too difficult, just find a nice patch of wet autumn leaves on a slow tight bend, such as taking a left junction….and you’ll be on your back like a flipped tortoise in no time. I did mine on a step thru’ moped, but it will work as well for a proper bike.😂

Im a new biker also. I'm still getting to grips with the preride jitters, but once I'm out i absolutely love it! Hopefully, this is something that fades with time and experience.

It does. I’ve been riding ‘big’ bikes for 3 years now and used to get so nervous and worked up. That’s stopped since I got a bike that gives me confidence

Over the last few years I've occasionally got the jitters, and I've been riding 56 years, but as you say once I'm out I still love it.

It's not that you need to learn how to "fall off your bike". It's learning how to AVOID falling off in the first place! Most who fall off bikes do so because they push their luck in bad conditions or do not know how to keep their tyres from slipping while cornering or braking. A mindset that is geared towards falling off is inviting that very outcome. Forget the "how to fall off" thing. Research into how to NOT fall off!

Same experiences here, and pretty much same roads on a regular basis (i've been down your route here many times) as well as up in the yorkshire dales as i live just outside bradford. I really love my 2021 cb125f and some days do upto 200miles with a flask of hot choccy and some sandwiches. I always take it steady on the wetter roads as the bike being quite light isn't as planted as i would have liked, but found that as a heavier guy, turning the preload on the shocks up a couple of notches to no 4 really helped (especially going down some pf the steep cobbles in this part of the world lol). As far as boots go, ATM i have a pair of walking boots i wasnt using, so bought some elasticated jodphur straps for a few quid that i put through the laces and clip onto the trouser bottoms to stop them riding up and wind/water getting in - works great. BTW dont take the mpg readout on the bike literally, it's 20-40mpg out no matter how steady you ride, only way is to calculate it from miles/litres used. I regularly get upto 180mpg on the bike readout, but actually have averaged 140mpg in reality since last Aug. - check www.fuelly.com/motorcycle/honda/cb125f/2021 for myself and others actual figures, but it's still crazy cheap to run. anyhoo better stop waffling, so GL and i might see you on the road sometime

Hi Bob, yes we're very lucky to be surrounded with such lovely countryside. I was out this morning while the sun made an appearance. I haven't tried adjusting the shockers. Thanks for that, I'll give it a go. You're right, it's a great bike and so cheap to run. The only reason I'm getting a different bike (in just over a week) is I want something I can put off road tyres on and do a bit of green laning. I'm still keeping to a smaller engine though. I'll look out for you. What colour bike have you got?

@@projectmidlifecrisis It's a black one, looks really smart. Actually i'm just about to give it a wash in 15 mins lol, i have a lifelong biker friend who's going to help me give it it's 2nd service (4600 miles) tomorrow as the price of £125 (minimum) at Craigs for basically just a checkover and oil seems a little steep. the manual doesnt even say you need to replace the oil filter, but it's getting one along with a few other bits. personally i'm not someone who likes the idea of any type of motorised vehicles on green lanes, except farmers, not since i saw the damage 4WD's did to mastiles lane quite a few years ago now, but i wouldnt mind a go on some tracks sometimes, but hey-ho gl with that, and as you point out the CB125F ain't a machine to do it on, i can still get a tad nervous on wet muddy roads, what with the thinner tyres and all, especially after i had an unscheduled dismount on a single track road last nov covered in a bed of wet leaves. I slowed down to less than 10mph and tried to pick my way through, but it just went from under me & managed to bang my wrist with a bit of pain for a month after, but it's all part of the learning process i suppose :). Suggest you look into doing a bike safe day with your local police VERY worthwhile. I think your road positioning could be improved - plod will sort you out (great lads by the way)

Nice getting into riding story. I'm not sure about a course to teach you how to 'fall off a motorcycle', better a course which teaches you how to avoid that situation..

If your suspension is clunking or crashy look in your manual and adjust the preload. They are set for lighter folk soadding a couple of clicks solves this. I know this as a husky gent 🤣
