Yo, great video! I think I both tunnel-visioned on the base defend via battleship and underestimated just how committed Virmir was to taking the center base. Strong agree on just plopping a mega or mid and saving for the super power. If nothing else it made for a nutty game worthy of the quack cup.

I figured virmir was using the early base race and abandoning the left side of the map as a distraction and false sense of security. I was expecting the artillerys to sneak towards your hq (as soon as you built the battleship), and be there in time for the super power, blast the blackboat and march in for the win as your units were making their way towards recapturing the base. I think you had showed good adaptive counterplay here whilst virmir had no idea (couldn't help myself with the rhyme)... virmir had one plan, and did not react to the battleship. I thibk he would have been better off capping that base and leaving the artillery to protect it like a city - no building from it, just preventing you making units on the right side and having a sitting duck of a battleship costing gou money in repairs. Really interesting game and you olayed really well 👍

That infantry in the thumbnail needs a caption of whatever is Advance Wars equivalent to "I'm a green unit". It would be perfectly fitting 😂

I think Sami would have gone toe to toe by playing like Colin with sneaky infantries smuggled to the far sides of the map. Feign fights and not commit on any offense, pop victory march and buy humongous units to make up for the loss of map control and momentum at early game. Especially with threat of baselocks. Honestly, really love this map, battleship lock, possible early base lock, vision and predeployed unit mind game, all around good match to cast, Deej.

26:16 around day 9, Virmir might have been able to make Kilmefirst pay for building the blackboat by attempting to lock it on top of the harbor. If he was able to do that then the outcome of this match might of gone differently. Still a good and nutty match!

If there's ever any situation to use Blizzard, I would use it that turn right before Sami got off the first Victory March. That could have saved several caps and (though he couldn't see it) ensured the double airport, because Sami couldn't put her infantry between the blue infantry and the black boat in the top right. Didn't matter because Olaf was so far ahead by that point and the Winter Fury was probably even more crippling, but I would have been fine with a Blizzard there.

I outquacked my opponents the first two rounds in this tournament, but I got HQ rushed in this round on Donda. Truly a cup of quacks. I was in D1

Would have been hilarious if virmir moved his tank to block the black boat from leaving the port. That would have been a mega big brain play. I do agree with deejus, if the mech was on the road, blue wouldnt have been able to make a arty. Could have taken the base faster and cost much less and maybe win the game.

Olaf COP must have been to guarantee sami inf goes down to 3, delaying the base cap by a turn. Maybe he had hopium he could still stop it, or just forces sami to sack more stuff to secure it. Incidentally it went down to 2, which means the inf was chipped, so this was completely unnecessary and it was guaranteed to go down to 3 without the cop lol
