About the whole BB not practicing TF and such. He went on the German costream after the series and talked about some more draft/ingame stuff. Some takeaways from that for anyone interested: - BB/G2 actually got bamboozled by MDK in game 1 draft and had to bandaid Caps onto TF mid draft. He also said in hindsight the Akali pick was not a good one as MDK had a lot of cc that game - He thought Myrwn actually played pretty good in game 1 but G2 just had better drafts after + Myrwn didn't seem to know how to play the matchups very well after that - He actually didn't expect to pick Gragas and only practiced it 1 day bc he thought Gragas might be pretty broken on this patch (especially on 3 items). Also Gragas is an oldschool Jayce counter. He didn't like the full AP topside but also didn't really have a good AD pick into Taliyah/Rell. And MDK didn't have that many tanky champs + the AP champs G2 had, were of the type that didn't care too much about MR (Lillia true dmg, Azir a lot of DPS). He then proposed it and team/Dylan gave the okay. - they knew MDK liked to play Senna so Hans and BB were constantly communicating in Game 2 and 3 if a swap was good/when to swap bc Senna doesn't have great push and you could even swap when not actually having prio in lane - Game 2 he said Myrwn played Gnar very well (in lane) and the only other person in LEC that can play Gnar that well in lane is probably Irrelevant - in his eyes MDK as a team doesn't pick meta but what is "good" in the sense of what makes sense at that moment in draft. (He gave the example of game 1 them picking 4 champs that are good against TF and him having to ask Caps to play TF for him). In that sense he thinks they are similar to G2 as in you have to think twice when drafting against them and they like to flex a lot. ...oh and his plan for the off-season is to fix the flat tire on his bike.

I honestly believe that the section where they talked about how this show came into being is why I love the concept of LFN. It's genuinely interesting people making the content they want to make without any of the handcuffs of suit and tie TV. I have never been able to put my finger on why I have watched almost all of Thorin's content over the years but I think he nailed it. None of it is artificial. It is organic, pure, and free of the shackles of fake television. Thank you very much for all the years of entertainment guys. You have, and continue to, be some of the best parts of my week.

Casual reminder that the only loss of g2 with caps in lec finals is from a team which they had 3-0 just a week prior in even more dominant fashion than bds. So i don't really agree with the bds didn't lose anything anyway in terms of winning finals. You never know how teams will respond and what bds learnt from that series. At the same time i don't think it's a disaster for them even if they lost some championship points. They've been a good team and can continue to grow. And i agree with striker benching adam, you gotta think about the long term profit instead of a team. You can't be giving a pass to players.

Maybe Coach Kim isn't a fraud, but we can't know for sure if he's good either. Yeah he won the LCK with Longzhu, but he was already on the team when they were bad in Spring. And then they became good because they added good players in Khan and Bdd to pair with their already good bot lane. That's it. He won with IG because he had TheShy, Rookie and JackeyLove. Everywhere else his teams were either bad or mediocre: DIG, Damwon (won Worlds without him), T1 (kept swapping player in and out), BLG (he had Weiwei, Zeka, Aiming and ppgod lol). And DRX only became good when he was kicked out, right before Worlds. But regardless, Mata is the one doing all the coaching for Gen.G, we can see him speaking nonstop in between games and after. The guy has the greatest brain ever in LoL and actually he's Challenger right now, has more LP than people like Keria and BeryL somehow.

I was just not convinced by the reason of that choice which is because T1 lost to GEN and when you say BLG lost to IG they say it doesn't matter. it just literally doesn't make any sense. you can say BLG is better because their play style is better in your opinion, T1 is meming and having fun or Guma not having his best split or any other reason that might seem reasonable not that nonsense @@og_ktg

The statement last year winter champ didnt get qualified for MSI is wrong. G2 went to MSI because of Winter. Not because of Spring or something else. They probably would have as well with Championship Points but they could have been 10th in Spring and still would have gone. There was even the question raised, wether they should just send a budget roster to spring LEC and send the real roster bootcamping and scrimming in Korea to get competitive

I feel like it goes one of two ways with Adam, he either feels like he let his team down and attempts to change his behavior as Monte said. Or he realizes the team built as it is with JNX in his place has no chance to come in first, so it emboldens him and he continues to act as he does. Knowing the team is subpar without him.

@@fathertime7864 He’s not bad, but the team was built around Adam, they have no other carry threat, and I don’t see JNX becoming that top lane bully/carry player. Look at the drafts before the substitution and after, it’s obviously changed the dynamic of the team. It forces ice and nuclearint to take on more of the dmg% responsibility. They went from oriana/neeko/azir to azir/corki. From Varus/Ashe to ezreal/apheleos. Losing Adam affects this team in a rather significant way.

The unfortunate truth about the very artful yelling at clouds segment is that the problem with the man yelling at the cloud is not whether the cloud deserves to be yelled at but rather what yelling at a cloud is going to accomplish. I'm not the biggest Rekkles fan but I have watched quite a few T1 CL games with Caedrel and Rekkles is not even close to the reason they have a 3-6 record. The bot lane is easily the best part of that team. The top laner and jungler are huge griefers and Poby can either play well or run it down

I am pretty sure that last year it was also the case that both split winners would attend MSI unless the same team won twice. I distinctly remember that people thought MAD shot themselves in the foot by beating G2, because that meant they had to win the split (which people thought they couldn't do), while otherwise they just needed G2 to win it (which people thought was guaranteed)

Monte, you said "I would like to believe that there is inherent truth or inherent power in certain forms of art and that it isn't all on the interpretation of the critic, [but a critic can make art via beautiful, compelling interpretation.]" Let's say a monkey with a typewriter is given an infinite amount of time and it creates the works of Shakespeare and some original, beautiful piece of literature. While that Shakespearean work might have some "inherent truth or inherent power" because those same words were written by a human with intention, do you think that the original piece of literature the monkeys created has some inherent truth as well? Does inherent truth necessarily come from the artist themselves? An interpreter of art might be closer to the inherent truth than the artist themselves, and I think this issue is what gave rise to postmodern approaches to criticism, like Barthe's. What do you think Meteos' response would be?

The reason why we don't effectively already live in (a voluntary form of) communism is because neither the rich guy cares about the poor guy as much (or more) as he cares for himself nor does the poor guy care about the others enough to not ask "what about me" and keep slaving away enthusiastically Stalin’s form of communism is fine unless you think that people didn't want to build tanks and combat aircrafts for 16 hours a day every day for a loaf of bread or that getting killed by a famine is undesirable So voluntary communism would mean that humanity is evolving past limited identities of "individual", family, etc Government enforced communism means that everybody is a literal slave cause having more than someone else (read: anything), and that includes intelligence, means that you must've stolen it It is a beautiful concept but as a government ideology it misses the fact (sometimes intentionally) that sharing is many of times (not always) the opposite of what most people wanna do, especially when the sharing is taking place besides your will and goes through the middle man of a government that not only killed your whole family but also only cares about economic pie in as much as it's necessary to wage war (in a case of Stalin) or in as much as it allows them to skim as much as they can from the top to prolong their reign (and wage war (in the case of Putin)) Last but not least all socialism (government "charity") is also a beautiful concept but it's always about the same exact thing - the ability of the "government official" to take fruits of labor from the others and use them. . for his benefit It's interesting how communism doesn't get as much bad press despite having killed more people than probably any other ideology and how places like San Francisco are literally turning into postapocalyptic wasteland due to being high on the spectrum (sharing and caring wise) Good slogans but the idea that "big guy" will "take care" of you is not only very presumptuous - it also sounds kinda gay Big government is not just "good" or "bad" - it is insanely stupid

For the communism part, beyond being a concept it is actually applied in a lot of structures in different passed and present societies. It does matter because they have different standards, A leaker has significantly lower standards than a Journalist because a Leaker can effectively say whatever they want, whereas a Journalist would not only damage their integrity and image but also potentially open themselves up to all sorts if they say something wrong. They can't go 10 seconds into talking about LCK without going right to shitting on T1 fans. Ah yes, the great monolith that is the T1 fanbase, the largest fanbase in all of LoL. It must be so convenient to be able to completely dismiss any and all arguments from anyone in said fanbase on the basis of that fanbase's most insufferable loyalists being (surprise surprise) insufferable and insane. I wish I could say their opinions come from good faith sincerity like their disdain of TSM and FNC fans in years past, but it's so entirely clear to anyone that's kept up with Last Free Nation's content and overlapping discussions between shows that the near-constant, indignant dismissal of T1 fans is simply copy-pasting IWD's opinions into an otherwise empty vessel of a perspective. How about we try compartmentalizing the hating of the fans separately from the team itself, yeah? Let's not underrate the team just because a few dozen fans share their (at times, understandable) vitriol at the criticism of their favorite team. And let's certainly not arrogantly assume that every one of said fans is a fair-weather bandwagoner who hasn't even watched the rest of Faker's career. Just remember, if you respond to vitriol, with vitriol, you might as well have deserved the former response.

Not uninformed about TSM, T1, Spanish fans or French fans - As they repeatedly show themselves up to be clowns over and over again. You seem to miss the context in which they are talking about Communism and people who ironically will use that line to say that Communism is good... whilst also using it as a stance to call for the murder of the wealthy or people they dont like. Which was literally the entire premise of Revolutions in both China and Russia that resulted in a Authoritarian state in which anyone who went against the "common good" was killed. Its kind of easy to understand what they are saying when you realise that 99% of the internet pays no attention to history and stands behind politics that they dont really understand without ever questioning it or think critically about it. The same people that will see the name "Last Free Nation" and immediately go "That is a right wing fascist programme and Monte and Thorin are Nazi's" unironically whilst Monte is closer to liberal than he is anything else.

This is one of the dumbest episodes i've watched I'm not a t1 fan at all but their points about them is so stupid. First do these guys really think that if yagao was replaced with knight in those two games t1 played against blg that blg would've won. Second if knight is such a better player than yagao how did t1 3-1 jdg who had the "greatest" roster of all time and a roster which is better than the blg now. Lastly if you're going to cherry pick and go back to msi 2023 where blg shit stomped the enitirety of the lck we should go back to worlds 2022 which is an even more important tournment where lck shit on lpl just the same and where t1 went 6-1 against the lpl this shit makes absolutely no sense to me im not saying t1 would for sure 100% beat blg rn but looking at all the leagues t1 is the best team rn.

@Arkanna96 5 ай бұрын
I just love how all of JDG's losses shouldn't count against them, and they still had the "best roster ever made" but T1 doesn't because they also sometimes lose games. Just because a team loses a series doesn't mean the other team is always better and will always beat them. Freaking G2 lost to Rogue in regular split. From that sample size Rogue is better.

@@Arkanna96 Weird how when T1 spend half the year struggling but then beat JDG at worlds - They were always better than them and always will be. Funny how it works that way, but JDG beating T1 at MSI didnt actually mean anything and was irrelevant because T1 were just always better...
@Arkanna96
@Arkanna96 5 ай бұрын
@@PeoplePleaser578 First off, that isn't even the point I was making nor the logic I was using. I was simply pointing out a double standard because people love to take any excuse to hate on T1 and say they're overrated way more than with any other team. I do believe there's strong arguments for that JDG roster being the best and I did actually think they were going to win worlds last year based on how their year had gone. But I also believed that if there was ANY team that could beat them it was T1. Because when T1 are at their absolute peak they can beat anyone and it showed. Maybe others value consistency more, and from that pov I guess GenG and JDG can be rated better. But I personally rather root for teams like T1 and BLG who have the potential, even if that higher volatility means they sometimes lose games they shouldn't. And at least in the last worlds it showed exactly that. It's sad the roster was split up, I am curious what would've happened if it didn't, if JDG stayed together more than a year and showed the same consistency then I would consider them competing with T1's roster for best roster. As it stands T1 are now on their 3rd year with the exact same team. The team which in 2022 won 1st place LCK in spring, second place MSI, 2nd place summer and 2nd place worlds - and people called it a disappointing year. Now their "struggling" 2023 year, they dominated regular season but ended up losing finals to GenG in spring. Then they got 3rd place at MSI, again losing to two of the best teams in the world in JDG and BLG in games that were very competitive. The only time this roster struggled was when Faker was not playing and they had to use their god damn academy mid laner who was not LCK ready. They bounced back instantly when he returned and finished second again in LCK and then finally won Worlds. So again tell me why that MSI BO5 is worth more than the BO5 at worlds? Why is JDG better than the team that always finished at least second in every competition with the exception of that one MSI? If "struggling" for T1 means they didn't stomp everything and "only" came in second in international events and in the most competitive region, because we have just that high of an expectation of them then maybe we should just admit that subconsciously we think they're the best.
@PeoplePleaser578
@PeoplePleaser578 5 ай бұрын
@@Arkanna96 Nobody said that JDGs Bo5 win at MSI was worth more than worlds… the point that Thorin and myself were making is T1 fans have a tendency to go “Well T1 beat them at worlds in a Bo5 that means they were always better and JDG only beat them at an irrelevant tournament” so his point is counter to that. As for T1 - They did categorically struggle, after spring split they were not the same team. GenG had their number all year. They made it through playoffs looking like a shade of themselves and beating a KT team that literally beat themselves at every opportunity. Going into worlds they did not look like the dominant team in fact nowhere close to it, it wasn’t until their Bo3 vs BLG where T1 actually started to look like their spring form. They were not the best in the world - They were the best for the meta that developed at worlds and the meta that still stands now. As for “Most competitive region” it’s really not… it’s literally KT (Occasionally), T1 and GenG, everyone else is irrelevant because they have 0 chance of winning it or even beating those teams…. And one of those teams we can count out when it comes playoffs because even with Beryl “I’m going to win worlds regardless of how good my team is” they will inevitably roll over and die, losing to T1 because that is KT all over… they are Perennial chokers. Fact is last year LPL was vastly more competitive and it showed at every international event… with LPL holding like a 19-7 ( Looked it up) record over every other team in the LCK not named T1. T1 were the only team with a winning record vs LPL and all of those came at worlds which took LCK to 19-18 vs LPL last year…. Literally T1 were the wins of the LCK. LCK is not some super dominant region anymore nor is it overly competitive it’s always been a top heavy region dominated by 1-3 teams.

@@PeoplePleaser578As for me I was just using that jdg argument because they had a better roster than the roster blg have now and t1 has looked pretty much the same as they did at worlds so I don’t think it’s objectively right to say blg is the best team in the world rn (I still think lpl will win Msi cause lck never does). I do agree with you tho lpl was a much stronger region last year and lck has always been 2-3 teams at the top without much competition.
