What’s the reason for fasting in the morning over night? Dr. Joel Furhman advocates the opposite saying digestion slows at night, so the same calories count more later in the day. Would love to do it right based on the best science but now I’m confused. Thank you!

HIGH CHOLESTEROL and plant based? I was then DR. Gregor mentioned “portfolio diet”. I found that adding MORE FIBER via psyllium seeds, more soy products, Phytosterol product and other fiber products dropped my cholesterol from 266 to 160 in a short period of time. I’d like more information on Portfolio Diet. As usual, being my own doctor augmented by your show and other plant based doctors has helped me tremendously. I love your show ....you all look so healthy and alive. Thank you.

For a non-scientist ordinary guy out there in everyday life it is extremely hard to interpret all the different information about what is healthy food and what is not. I would like to know what you think about the teachings of Professor Benjamin Birkin. There seems to be a discrepancy in the way to avoid or treat a diabetes by way of eating. How can it be that research has lead to such different results regarding the protein from egg whites and protein from vegetables? I’m a two year vegan with a type 2 diabetes and I’d like to know the full story.

Recently diagnosed with celiac’s disease. Would adding in a little bit of animal protein be beneficial? It is very hard to find grains and beans that are certified gluten-free.
@michellehashish5341
@michellehashish5341 3 жыл бұрын
Gluten is found in grains - wheat, barley, rye and triticale. While other grains such as corn, rice and quinoa also contain gluten, they don't seem to cause problems the way wheat, barley and rye do. Legumes/beans are naturally gluten free - you can still eat chickpeas, lentils, black beans, kidney beans, pinto beans, peas etc. Products that are naturally gluten free like legumes/beans are not going to be labelled gluten free as there is no need. Just use Google search if you're unsure and there are plenty of gluten free vegan websites and KZfaq chanells. Just have to use search.

@@michellehashish5341 , Thank you for your reply. However I have celiac’s disease and even gluten-free grains and beans are easily contaminated with gluten due to how they are grown and processed. I am highly sensitive to gluten and I can also not eat gluten-free oats or any corn products as they also cause stomach issues. This leaves me very limited and I am wondering if a little animal protein would benefit me so I am not deficient in nutrients.
@michellehashish5341
@michellehashish5341 3 жыл бұрын
@@Learning-as-I-go that does make it difficult. Not sure of the answer on that one. I'm surprised beans can be contaminated with gluten, but I guess if it is a big processing factory it can happen. You're worried about cross contamination which I understand. As for consuming meat I can't answer that question for you.

Some people are sensitive to nightshade plants, but it's a small portion of the population - obviously people should avoid if problematic, but these foods shouldn't be avoided on principle. Also, sometimes food sensitivities improve as well if an individual's diet is improved overall.

Latter part of the day should be the one which is restricted due to circadian rhytm! I paused and I'm writing this, first doctor at least did not give any insight about why is it adjunct to our diet, why is it? Im doubtful about consept if one follows time restricted eating should such a pattern have meaningful place in our world?
@jarnokokkonen2497

I started rewatching. She mentioned some studies. But nothing why restriction should hapoen earlier. Because of circadian rhytm that is so not true. Except if one want to gain weight and feel not as good as it is possible.

@@michellen2325 morning is the most important time to eat because bacteria in your colon is most active then. Circadian rhytm, that was my point. Eat like King, prince, pauper that is most effective way to eat... Except if fat gain is a goal as it could be if someone is going like in expedition to antarctica... Even in this case eating greatest in the morning can be most beneficial.

How can you talk about protein needs when in fact it’s important to cover the complete amino profile. If you consume 0.8g of protein per kg doesn’t mean you fulfil essential amino requirements.
@miekekuppen9275
@miekekuppen9275 3 жыл бұрын
Thankfully we now know that you don´t have to cover the entire spectrum in a single meal so if you´re eating a varied diet you´re likely to hit them all over the course of the day - although I agree it´s helpful to track for a week or two to see if there are any you often go low on. I´m more annoyed that they give protein content in percentage of calories rather than percentage by weight. Nobody is going to eat 100 kcal of lettuce in one sitting so the amount of protein contained in that amount is irrelevant.
@hannahrl
@hannahrl 3 жыл бұрын
An array of whole plant foods easily provide all essential amino acids, which the body takes apart and recombines as needed. There are old misconceptions about "co plete protein" delivery that are now known to be just that - misconceptions. Most plants actually include all essential amino acids, in differing amounts, anyway.

What about the information in this video (kzfaq.info/get/bejne/e66GqNCoztmYlZuU.htmlbout) fats, nuts and what to eat or not eat first thing to break the fast? Is coconut oil really all that bad? What about the MCT in it that is good for our brain?

@andymack8178 3 жыл бұрын
@@hannahrl not sure what that means or why it's even necessary. The countdown is purposely put in but absolutely annoying and not needed. I shouldn't have to be bothered or to guess how far in to click to avoid it. I don't see this on any other youtube video that I've ever watched.
@hannahrl
@hannahrl 3 жыл бұрын
It clearly bothers you, and it's clearly just how their video comes out after broadcast and they don't remove it to edit it out. I expect they start this timer before they go live with these so that when Chuck starts, things are smooth. If you watch other live casts on KZfaq or Facebook, you'll see almost categorically that they often start sort of mid-sentence in-progress of an intro or otherwise. Pretty sure this is the result of PCRM having an actual production team that is coordinating things while gettingthe episode queued. Then that live-cast video is archived directly as a KZfaq video (static, the result we're watching here) without their taking the footage and editing it. If you pull the playhead forward, you should see frames above it, allowing you to "scrub through" the video to roughly where you'd like to be. This is definitely true and maybe easier on larger devices and computers. Hope understanding that stuff maybe helps make it less irritating to experience the 30 seconds or easier to skip past them.
@andymack8178
@andymack8178 3 жыл бұрын
@@hannahrl see here's the thing, these videos never used to do this before and now they do. They really need to understand that the old way is better. Again, never saw this on any other KZfaq video. That means they can easily go back to the way they used to do it.
@hannahrl
@hannahrl 3 жыл бұрын
@@andymack8178 Sounds like contacting the PCRM production team is in order for you, so you can either have an explanation from them that satisfies you, or convince them to alter their processes. Beyond that, I'd suggest the Serenity Prayer. Ever since PCRM started LIVE broadcasts during COVID, I have *always* seen their countdown-to-live-cast counter in these archived playbacks. I am sure that they could remove the livecast videos from their uploads, edit and reload them, but I am not sure that the team would find it worth their while, and I'm sure that would also remove the questions posted by viewers during the live shows. Presumably, they are reading the handful of comments from frustrated viewers who wish they would re-do this, but no reason you can't reach out to PCRM directly. Wishing you a peaceful week, free of countdown timers.
