there's a computer game called table top simulator. it simulates just about any table top game from sorry to D&D. obvi not as great as playing in person but its better than not playing. especially when you are distant from your friends.

Just started looking into pipe knowledge to pick up the hobby and now I get to learn about pipes and watch games. Sign me up!

If you're a baseball fan, APBA has a board game that I've been playing for 51 years and has been around much longer than that. Great card game that adds a lot of realism to situational baseball.

The world of adventure board games is a deep rabbit hole, MuttnChop! I can't say how pleasantly surprised I was to hear your story. I am just a step behind you (52 at the time of this writing), and my heart broke a little bit that you did not have the opportunity to enjoy a game of Dungeons & Dragons or any of the thousands of role playing games now available. It changed my life when I was a teen, and I still hope to get a group together again once everyone's families are raised and we all get some time again. RPGs can be amazing. Board games are also outstanding these days. Truly we are living in an age of wonder! I look forward to watching ol Muttnchop roll some bones and shuffle some cards as we learn new games together. This is a great idea! Board games are a wonderful hobby! I'll often play games that are designed to be turn based cooperative games as solo games. Pandemic Fall of Rome is a good example of that. You can also do that with Elder Sign (Cthulhu themed dice game). Both are good. One of my favorite single player games is Nemo's War. It's a longer play and has quite a few rules, but it's a brilliant experience. Looking forward to see what games you'll be playing!

Nice background 👍🏻 almost like Read Dead Redemption, a game I like. I’m a gamer (tv-game) since I was 8. Now I’m 56 and I still play games. The first time I saw Lord of the Rings I was around 10 years old. My dad took me to a Lord of the Rings cartoon. My father was at this time in charge of the film projectors. I loved the movie, I remember I was a little bit scared😁 now I’m at the lake its 7am and I have my morning-pipe. Happy piping

Yes, yes, yes! This is a fantastic idea! Your earlier videos of LoTR LCG is what got me into the game and now I have collected the entire game. I'm currently playing Descent: Legends of the Dark from Fantasy Flight Games with a friend. I strongly recommend that board game!

Great idea! I am 62 and I used to play wargames, back in the 1970's, with My older brother and His buddies. They had small models for the realism but there was also a good deal of commercially available games too. Can't remember the name of the game company but I do recall some of the game names. "Mustket & Pike" was a favorite of Me and My bro. It was based on the English civil war. There was also "The Battle of Britain" which simulated the air superiority struggle over southern England in the second world war. I will be sure to watch Your new series, Muttnchop!

A lot of board game fanatics play solo, like you said... basically playing against self. Many games are enjoyable this way I hear, some others not so much. Tabletop Simulator is a fun (but janky) way of playing many games online, there are also some other ways to play online. I never got super into board games, but I enjoy watching content about them from time to time. One board game I very much enjoy is Talisman... all the hardcore board gamers look down their nose at it, but it is fun. There is a digital version of that as well. I will watch these videos gladly! I'm fairly new to pipe smoking. Definitely not new to tobacco. I've been a cigarette smoker for over 30 years. Hopefully not too much longer for cigarettes. I'm a cigar lover and really enjoy smoking my pipe. Muttnchop Piper was the first KZfaq channel I found when I was learning about pipe smoking. Your channel is the only pipe related channel I watch. I also love games but have limited people to play with and even more limited time to play. I am definitely interested in your new series.

I'm most definitely up for this kind of series! Been a fan of board games for years at this point, and play solo games a lot. If you like fantasy, I'll list some of my personal fantasy themed favorite solo's: *Casual:* - Mini Rogue - One Deck Dungeon - Iron Helm *Complex:* - Spirit Island - Sleeping Gods - Gloomhaven (Jaws of the Lion is great for Gloomhaven beginners) - Aeon's End By far my #1 solo game has been Mage Knight (ultimate edition) for years at this point. It has a rather steep learning curve, but most definitely worth it! If you want to try out some great solo Lord of the RIngs games, I'd suggest the card game. (BGG is always a good source as well, but you're probably well aware of BGG at this point)

I recommend Castle Ravenloft as a one player boardgame. Lots of fun, and is full of your standard monsters, ghouls, and heroes. You won't be disappointed.

This is amazing! Gaming is my first hobby - started in 1974 with Avalon Hill's D-Day. I played a lot of wargames solitaire until I found some friends who played. It's easy to play a lot of wargames solitaire, if they don't have any hidden info as part of the game system. I still play these games, but with my kids!

Backgammon Galaxy is a great place to play people all over the world, anytime of day. It does'nt beat 1 on 1 real time game play but it's still worth a look if one like the Epic game of Back Gammon.

I started playing the new solo computer game ‘Book of Travels’ and love it for the same reasons you mention. Pipe smoking is an area being implemented into the character development.

I highly recommend a hidden gem called Adamastor! It's a card game you can play solo or co-op and it's about sailing with a crew and making hard decisions in order to get to your destination. ⛵☦️

Even before , a few years back. My brother and some friends would get together to play games , mostly big D&D buffs , but others to . I just never got into many. Anyway him being mostly home bound , and others work being away couldnt come to play. Game night for them is Friday or Sat evning start , done late sunday , eat and sleep when ya break. They found instead of leaving one out or not .eeting , they would connect online , let the one gone play while they did the actiins. Worked well as long as signal did , which has improved , mostly. Just an idea that between a couple friends you can make it work and try it.

I like it! As another idea, have you ever considered a reading of 'The Hobbit', and / or 'LOTR'? It could be 1 chapter a week, or whatever you felt like (if you feel like it). Happy Piping!

The day after you posted this i was at my LGS and randomly picked up a solo game called "Final Girl" and wow, i cant recommend this game enough. you have to buy the core rules and at least one "feature film expansion" (i got hans the butcher). in the game you play as a character in a horror movie and there are only two outcomes, you kill the villain's or they kill you. its super fun and tense!

Dominion is a great game

I’m a big board-gamer here. There are some great solo games out there. For me, it’s more fun to play with other people. Especially the cooperative games can be super fun for the people that don’t like the competitive ones. A great cooperative game is the Pandemic series. If you want more recommendations, let me know. I have a wealth of knowledge when it comes to boardgames.

You’re so right about the benefits of learning something new, and games are a great way to keep your mind sharp! I’ll be getting back into “Magic The Gathering” with the new Lord of the Rings expansion. Not a solo game, but thankfully I have family to play with. I’ll be watching your new series!

Speaking of the pandemic, you should try out pandemic the game. It's a great co-op game (can be played alone) and simulates trying to cure a pandemic before it totally breaks out. You'll definitely lose a lot, but the few times you win are worth it.

Baldurs gate 3 is releasing Aug 3rd and with a decent pc you will find that perfect mix of LOTR and gaming I bet. You can even multi-player online but it's not necessary. Happy piping!

If you want some good games that solo really well with a fantasy theme there's a lot out there. Probably one of the best if you want a big series is Oathsworn, might be worth looking at soon since the pledge manager is about to close within the next month or so (game ships in about october/November
