Great work Ed! A very compact and simple system, I think it's great! Hope it sells well! I finally got mine all working, the old way with temp relays and the solaris but works great so far! Got 600w element at 24v, heats in no time! And made a wood burner back boiler system inspired by your original water heater👍

I can see a ESP in the controller. Could you add so you could connect to the wifi in the van? And also could you add something like Mqtt to the controller so I could connect it to my home automation and turn it on and get status remote?

Hi guys, looks amazing! Will be purchasing an air Xchange kit in the near future so this couldn't have dropped at a better time! Question, my system is primarily 24v, though I do have a DC converter for a few small appliances that require 12v. Would this controller work natively on the 24v side of my system or is it explicitly 12v only? And if the system is 12v only, would it be able to control a 24v heating element, or do the sensors/display not cover that range?

Ed can the switchover( diverter) from to heat water to heat hab area . Do you need the controller to control that ?

Can it connect to a wifi network rather than creating its own and having to disconnect and reconnect?

Hi Ed. What are the dimensions of the Smart Controller Display as I am just trying to allow for suitable fitting space in my build and it won't be delivered for a few weeks yet?

Is it still possible to run the diesel heater like the original Controller ie 1-6 rather than temperature settings to save it cutting in and out and using power for the glow plugs everytime as normally leave it tick over on setting 1 overnight in the winter.

You can still use your diesel heater as before. If you have the 1-6 controller then this won’t directly control it and you’ll have to use it in manual mode. Genuine question: what do you mean by having the thermostatic mixer to prevent constantly changing from hot to cold? Doesn't a mixer tap do the job? I'm planning my build in a t6 and working out crafty ways of fitting this great bit of kit in

@@Roodoo55 a mixer tap would mix hot and cold, but you’d have to adjust it as the water in the tank cooled. A thermostatic mixer would do this automatically, and reduce water wastage and increase safety-no chance of 80 degree water coming out of the tap!

is the wifi elemet of the controller cloud based ? Can it be accessed and controlled remotely if there is a wifi source in the van? Like victrons VRM for example.

There, I've been thinking about this because in my experience, the autoterm 4kw diesel heater doesn't heat to 30°C when it's -20 outside. So do you think that the bobil air water heater will be able to reach a higher temperature?

What’s the vehicle? 30 degrees is hot for a van. However it should easily heat to 22 degrees even when it’s -20 outside.

@@julien_savage_kayaking it shuts off at 60 degrees. Takes around 15 minutes.

@@julien_savage_kayaking yes it should do. The temperature outside should be irrelevant as you should recirculate air within the vehicle.

Nice idea. I didn't realise how chunky it would be compared to other controller out there. Thought it would be much more slimline...
