Face ID is pretty amazing technology. I have been through lots of phones and different unlocking methods and the iPhone X is impressive. After you use it for a bit it is hard to disagree that it’s the best all around phone right now.

The reason why it worked in the dark is because a light that we cant see works in the dark and puts a million little dots on your face detecting depth that also why it didnt work for the cardboard cutout and the picture on the phone.

I have seen a few of these with twins (first triplets one) and it seems the younger the identicals are the more likely to unlock the device. While the older, they get the more they facially seem to drift apart

Vulpe your most likely to use your phone everyday so when you do, face id learns your face each time. lets say you dont have a mustache and you just put on a fake one, face id might not recognize you. but if you unlock your phone with face id, while your mustache is growing, then it will recognize you. puberty doesnt come over night, soo your phone will still recognize you

IRIS scanning isn't even as good as it. Apple haters love to make these statements but don't provide much to back it up. IRIS scanning = 2D. Face ID = 3D. Hey, ever heard of contact lenses or photos? Yeah, people make a lot of them. and they're all capable of fooling iris scanning. Why? Because it's 2D... Iris Scanning isn't as good as Face ID. It's worse. Like a lot worse.

Samsung even said that the face recognition isn't a secure way to lock your phone but a comfortable way. You can't choose face recognition as a way to enter private folder because they know that this future isn't meant for that. So I don't know how I should be offended being a samsung user.

With the Google pixel you don't even have to turn on the phone screen to unlock with the fingerprint scanner on the back of the phone and actually you can even just tap the screen twice and see the time, battery, stats, and weather.

It's not hard to come to the realization that it't not only about depth but also how the material "skin" reacts to the infra red dots. They might look different on different materials and thus not unlock the phone.

Randolipe - Because it requires your attention (eyes open) to work you idiot. It can be disabled to work without that feature though.

One big True.... With fingerprint twins and identical person dont unlock... So.... Faceid is less secure than fingerprint or íris scanner

To be fair, Touch ID was never as secure because there is a 1 in 50,000 thousand chance that someone elses fingerprint would be close enough to yours to unlock it. By comparison, (unless you have an identical twin) face ID has a 1 in 1,000,000 chance that there is another human being with a face close enough to unlock your phone.

Facial reconigtion has been out ages ago and its not even ranked the most secured , even twins can open it, but.... the iris scanner is the most secured no ones eyes can be the same even twins!

a piece of silicon and a carving knife costs about 20$ if your an actual artist? Simple forgery. Facial recognition has been around for 6+ years, and it has been proven almost useless for security.
