The great Irene Kral who left us too soon. Like a long drink of water for those of us who thirst for the classic period of American music. Thanks very much !

Thanks for posting this. Young singers, listen up. Irene Kral is absolutely the best jazz singer that ever sang. Her pitch, delivery, style and phrasing are right-on.

Somehow missed this gem. So many fond memories of shelley's manne hole in the sixties. Loved that club. Irene was a true artist.

Her voice, both in timber and style never changed. From the day of this taping up to the day she passed, she never altered her approach to a song. Thank God.

I was very fortunate to catch Irene Kral at Donte's one Sat Night with Alan Broadbent- It was one of those (Indelible Jazz Supper-Club Nights, I've heard many exceptional vocalists on recordings & in Jazz Clubs, but Irene Kral was Pretty Close to perfect in Voice & Delivery whenever She picked a Mic.....

irene Kral --quite an unmistakable sound, voice so special, a bit sad, always pure. One of my very favorites, great to see her on video, never had a chance to see her live, but the duo albums w. Alan Broadbent are among best vocal recordings ever.

Chet Baker introduced me to this song, which I recently heard Irene Kral do in this version as a Bonus Track on a quite wonderful 77:30 length Solar CD; sharing in Dreamsville group on Facebook, inspired by my brother from another mother, John Barrett out of oHIo...

Please note that her splendid album "The Band and I" and its followup collection of songs by Steven Allen are at last out on C.D. Not to be missed.

I never got to hear Irene live, but she's been one of my very favorite singers since hearing her with an early version of Maynard's band in the late '50s -- the LP was called "Boy With Lots of Brass." Irene had a unique style, an absolute delight. Check out her work with Alan Broadbent, and with Elliot Lawrence. It's great to have this video.

L:ove this lady so much. Hope she understood how much loved she was and hopefully, still is. Totally natural. She of course made the best ever version of "Better than anything" which if you don't it, please look it up.

Chet Baker sang this song a lot. I'm trying to learn more about the tune. On one lead sheet found in fake book ("JazzLTD") Tad Dameron is listed as the composer. But on Chet's CDs ("Chet Baker with Fifty Italian Strings") it lists two different people as composers. I can't find my CD or any information online. VERY hard to find out anything about this tune.
