Looks lovely. I've got Irish relatives, so I've been over to Ireland many times and always have a bit of barmbrack when there! My parents go more than me and usually bring some back from the local bakery. :) Lovely stuff. I usually spread a bit of butter on a slice, which really sets it off.

Oh that looks so good and so easy! I want to make a batch this week. I love the cute tradition of adding the ring inside. I was wondering if you can just cut up a fresh peeled orange skin and add it in the fruit mix or is there some special way of getting the orange peel? Are you supposed to only peel the top layer of the orange peel or can you put the whole thing in, from outer orange part to inner white part?

Hey ya Donal. I've tried out a few cake recipes of yours, and they always turn out AMAZEBALLS! I've got a question though regarding this Irish Tea Cake recipe. I made this yesterday - and maybe I put in a wee bit more of the Jameson than recommended - but that only made the dried fruit that much better. I let the barmbrack cool; wrapped it up in plastic wrap to allow the flavors meld over night. This morning, with a fresh brewed pot of Irish Breakfast Tea, we did it justice. It was amazing! Thanks Donal and Happy St. Patrick's Day!

I made this cake many times now - it is very straightorward and very tasty. I just find sometimes that lining the tin for the cake is a little challenging and just wondered if lining paper is sold measured to the tin. Its not a massive problem more convenient I suppose. Also, I have not made this cake without lining paper and wondered if it makes any difference in actually getting the cake out? I might try it next time - I do use butter to grease the tin so I just find sometimes the lining paper annoying to be fixed whilst I pour in the batter mixture.

Very decent height - it rose well and looked decent texture - well done and decent shirt. Now, the issue with the ring is that you might digest it, which occurred in BUSTER the film and so in England it is a sixpence inside a Christmas pudding. I prefer the ring thing - it adds an edge to proceedings if you are into Mystic Meg stuff.
