They are definitely not doing it because they are humanitarians, if they were, the price would be $150.00-$250.00 and still make a great profit. Instead of $1000.00+ people don’t matter profit does.

Exactly. There's no reason even the highest dose should be over $300 (dare I say even $250) for the BRANDED .... period. They are grossly overcharging people in the USA simply because they're allowed to.

It’s about money. If the compound pharmacy bought tirz from Elli there wouldn’t be any law suit but since the pharmacies are not… Other side Elli is go greedy, they can’t keep up with demand but they are trying to shut down the places where we can get medicine? makes no sense if you are worried about us right?

I am also interested to see what happens to MJ and Zepbound supply as the new insurance regulations make it financially impossible for people to get brand name medications. This stuff has my conspiracy on high alert.

No one was able to get rid of alcohol during prohibition. If there is a will…there will be a way. These drugs are saving lives. It’s going to be next to impossible to try to stop the world from trying to live longer.

It won't. No need for the long face or sad emojis. I just wrote to someone else that pharmacies like Strive Pharmacy, South Lake Pharmacy and Empower Pharmacy were adding some kind of vitamin (usually some kind of B vitamin) well before any shortages but never changed. Many others can/will just go that route if/when shortages end. E L is not that powerful...they just wish they were.

Dave do you think this is coming because of the impending hit Eli Lily is about to take from insurance company medication coverage and people who are going to have to go to compound due to the new insurance requirements that are coming?

My understanding is that the shortage is for the pens not the glp-1/GIP. Unfortunately I don't remember where I got that information so take it with a grain of salt.

Well, for the medication itself not being the cause of the shortage at all, Lilly sure is building a *lot* of production capacity to make the medication. 😯 Just sayin’.

If we are to believe the current FDA shortage website, all tirzepatide shortages will go away at the end-of-June (two days from now). If an end to shortage is declared, all tirzepatide compounding will be shutdown in 60 days. It also seems the FDA has to take the drug manufacturers word about shortages.

@@ManOnTheMounjaro I love your optimism. I just remember how long it took Ei Lilly to add any doses of ZepBound to the shortage list. I also believe that many of the doses shown as being available are still in shortage.

I believe they can still compound a similar thing when there is not a shortage they just can’t mix the EXACT thing like they do now, they can add b vitamins and such. That’s how I understand what I’ve read on shortages and compound pharmacies etc

Stop spreading this. They not be going away. @@HeatherPaulineWeightloss Seems like drug companies just need to enforce their patents on the drug molecules to shut this down. The lack of shortage means the loop hole is over.

I don’t think Novo was ever successful at shutting anyone down, and what you see here is the supply of non-Lilly Tirzepatide is being choked off.

The Novo lawsuits were all over trademarks of their name brands being used to market compounds.

@@ManOnTheMounjaro oh got it. So different plan of attack. Novo seems a little smarter with their approach to lawsuits. And fortunately there are plenty of places with compounded sema for people to access.

I don’t think one is more ethical than the other. One is about compounds, the other is going after the trademarks to make the compounds. I don’t think Lily will be successful. One thing is clear: Big Pharma isn’t interested in our wellbeing.

*Great* vid (but audio de-syncs as it goes on). For myself, don’t care a whit if research-grade (what I call ‘rat grade’) goes away. Was not even intended for human consumption to begin with. 🐀 But legit compounded meds are different from that, and Lilly’s greed here is unconscionable. Especially since only about 3 percent max of GLP-1 prescriptions are compound (analyst estimate). Lilly either *fears the future* (aka compounds becoming a bigger thing, due to unending bad shortages, plus the likes of Ro and Hims ‘mainstreaming’ compounds, with more ‘name’ providers to come), or they’re just HYPER-greedy… or BOTH. 🤦 However you slice it, they do not seem to give two sh**s about patient access, unless THEY are the ones providing it. Target the unsafe stuff, but do not target access, Lilly. Disappointed in them as a company right now. ☹️

@Dave If what some 503a’s are actually using and selling is research-grade API, then they should be shut down. But if it’s ‘human grade’ (for lack of the official term), then the source shouldn’t matter much. Though I guess the collateral damage of a supplier being sued and shut down over research-grade med production is that any human-grade meds they were supplying would also go away. Is that the play, in your opinion? If so, morally defensible by Lilly, but also quite convenient for them, yes?

I think you’re right about research grade terzepatide, if it didn’t work, why try and shut them down. Are the 403b pharmacies using research peptides? Where do they get it?

People have died and been hospitalized from research grade medication. It is very bad for the Eli Lilly brand if people are reported as dying on tirzepatide/ZepBound/Mounjaro (even when it isn't the branded medication)
