is Dead Man's Switch worth running? Maximum value build

Trying out a build that came to mind when I saw the perk Dead Man's Switch. The idea is using the doctors static blast ability to force them off generators during the activated perk time, so you can get maximum value out of the perk. Not actually sure how much it's worth running however.

I think bringing the game offering ruined the test. Doc on the game with distressing has always been good. I think freddy with the class photo add on would be way better.

In True Bhvr tradition this perk doesnt even work sometimes. I was able to repair a blocked gen the ONE time someone used it. Well better nerf gear head, right devs?

The thing about regressing gens is that survivors can just hop on them almost immediately, while blocked gens cannot be completed by any means until the timer runs out. So honestly, I feel like regressing the gens so that they get progress back in the same 30 seconds and blocking them for ~30 seconds with Dedmans is pretty much the same thing.

Bauto That has been discussed since day 1 of Ruin nerf and devs said “NO”. The Q&A said something among this lines “we make so many perks that we are scared of synergy, when testing we discovered that new Ruin and Surveillance made for a very powerful combination, in the end we made the hard decision to leave it in the game. However we also discovered that Thrilling Tremors was problematic with new Ruin so to balance it we decided to stop regression when blocking gens”. Finally prepare yourself because they hate synergy and said they are planing on changing Dying Light and Thanatophobia so that you can’t run both perks at the same time!

What’s the fucking point in perks if they don’t synergise, if there’s no perk synergy in a game with perks then they’re doing it wrong. The mere fact that gens don’t regress when blocked make tremors and dead man’s switch BAD/mediocre. They “made a tough decision” to leave the ruin/surveillance synergy in? Oh yeah, because ruin is a “late game perk” all that info and not Gen pressure you’ll be getting is going to be sooooo OP. Ruin surveillance is mediocre because new ruin is still a hex perk. Fucking idiot devs, they’re too scared to make anything good that they’re making NOTHING good. No deathslinger buff, that absurd pig nerd, legion is still dead, nerfing the two most viable killers. Meanwhile the hatch and keys and moris and no ed are still in the game despite all being aids.

it might also be good on killers with high map mobility (hillbilly, demo, freddy, spirit, etc.) that produce sound / visual effects that passively scare survivors off gens. I also wonder if it synergizes decently with thrilling tremors?

Yerv-sama, do a No Gens build with Dead Man's Switch, Corrupt Intervention, Thrilling Tremors, and some fourth perk (nemesis or ruin prolly). They can't do gens if there ARE no gens! NOED for life babyyyy!

I think Dead Man's Switch just needs a buff. I can't see it being useful in any build, honestly. What I believe DMS should do is if you hook the obsession, the generator that has progressed the most will be blocked off for at least 60 seconds, preferably around 90 seconds.

This perk really shines on killers who are either very mobile or very disruptive. Doctor is clearly the disruptive one, just like Legion or Huntress. Ideally DMS/Nemesis/BBQ/Enduring. I’ve tried this build out myself and it’s been pretty solid. Because DMS is 45 seconds, if you’re rotating your obsession well, you get mega value out of it by just waiting for it to come back up. For mobile killers it’s obvious but Freddy shines very well with this too. DMS/BBQ/Nemesis/4th perk of choice. Ideally, I’d run Discordance, but any other info based perk can work here too. His addon, Class Photo makes all the gens spurt blood but none of them give the husk so after you hook your obsession, you see someone on a gen, teleport to it and even if there are multiple people on a gen, because it panics people to get off just to see if you’re actually coming, you still get Monsterous value from it.

It's a bit of a shame that Ruin actually doesn't regress when a gen is blocked. So if anyone you may actually hurt yourself by getting less value out of Ruin than you would if the gens weren't blocked 24/7

@@walkermott1750 The horrible thing is that the devs made it that way by design. They've said that working on gens, literally the core mechanic of their game, is boring, so they don't want too many good gen slowdown perks.

I think this could help when going against SWFs that are communicating gen progress after being chased off it. May be niche, but could help in games that would be considered the tougher match ups. Definitely would like to see examples of different killers on different maps.

My thoughts for best use of Dead Man's Switch is actually with Freddy and the Class Photo add-on. The one that makes it so that you can't cancel a teleport in progress, but makes all generators spout blood while the teleport is happening. I figure that with BBQ or Thrilling, you know which generator to really teleport to, but everyone else will jump off and trigger DMS.

Try Freddy with Class Photo. I think Dead Man's Switch can be good in general with Freddy combined with Thrilling Tremors, because you can fake the teleport. Imagine a scenario when you hook the obsession, two gens are worked on and you know it because of Thrillling Tremors (that is actually typical), you fake the teleport to the furthest one and go to the closest one: now you are blocking every single generator in the map. The ones that matter for 45 seconds. I think it's amazing. You don't even need Class Photo.

I got a Deadman's meme build for ya! Deadman's, Thrilling, Ruin, Surv on Doc with 2 calm. That way you can block gens by picking up, then block again when the obsession is hooked.

Should use Furtive Chase instead of Nemesis. Not only does it synergise more with DMS, but I think nemesis makes survivors immune to your static blast, since they have oblivious, not sure tho

In order for this build to work he needs Nemesis. Dead man's only works on obsession hooks.

Freddy would combo well with it. Use BBQ to locate specific gens and teleport to force survivors to run. I imagine this would be really good with his add on that shows his projection on all gens. Tinkerer is not a bad choice if BBQ doesn't detect anyone.

Maybe DMS could work well on high mobility killers like nurse and Billy since the nurse can cross map in an instant and scare survivors and even just revving your chainsaw can discourage some survivors. Hag could maybe work if you trap the gens, and I can't remember if Clown's tonic forces survivors off gens, but that could be an option. Freddy would work well too.

You can use Freddy with Class Photo or Spirit with Prayer Beads as well for this build. The problem with Spirit is that in general you're not getting stunned a lot so maybe Freddy is better for this.

This is almost identical to that one thing you did for Thrilling Tremors + Ruin. Also I feel like Furtive Chase is a better play for this build to make changing obsessions easier.

Deadman’s switch seems to work on later of the game.If the perk trigger at the time who had sacrificed should be panicking.Maybe pair with dying light and legion with mending add-ons can workout.

Freddy could make it work maybe, like with class photo it could work pretty good but then the downside that you cant cancel teleports sucks... When i saw your new Doc video i thought for first moment it gonna be about the Discipline add ons rework- i love this add on now. You can stack them, its so ridicolous how fast they scream when you shock them its really funny and good

Vargrath Technically you can do it on Freddy. (No add ons needs). Take thrilling tremors and dead man’s switch. Thrilling will tell you which gen is being worked on. Fake teleport there and the gen will get blocked. Go somewhere else and pressure 2 gens at a time (not to the one you fake teleported to).

The perk doesn’t look half bad, but IMO this perk might be best as an End Game perk, just think about protecting a 3 gen for an extra free 20+ seconds!

Try out this perk build: Hex:ruin, deadman switch, pop goes the weasel, and dark devotion. The concept is simple, Hex:ruin activates after dead man's switch timer runs out, which causes gens to lose progress, giving dead man's switch value. If hex:ruin is destroyed pop goes the weasel will back you up with dead man's switch value even after losing hex:ruin. Dark devotion will cause the obsession to steal your terror radius after hitting him/her. The obsession running around with your terror radius will scare people off the gens for even more dead man's switch value. You could use nemesis instead of dark devotion or you could use a perk that increases your terror radius along side dark devotion instead of pop goes the weasel.

you want to do double calm dead mans, fugitive/nemesis depending on what you like most. distressing and corrupt you will hit like 70% of the map

Try this with bbq and Freddy. As soon as you hook someone you can fake going to a gen that has survivors on it. If they get off, you have that gen blocked for 40 ish seconds

Don't know if you read the comments but on your Nemesis, MYC, Furtive, video I mentioned this, If you do it on prayer bead Spirit or Freddy with Class photo to force them off the gen with Nemesis,Myc,Furtive,Deadman's the snowball will be dirty af and you'd constantly be blocking gens

I feel like Freddy gets more value out of this perk than the other killers. I would suggest running Dead Man’s Switch on him with Enduring and Nemesis. Also throw in either BBQ or Thrilling to know which gens they’re working on. Class Photo is a must to scare people off gens while you teleport. That way, you’ll block more gens

I think Furtive Chase may be better for changing obsession, rather than relying solely on Nemesis. Nemesis you HAVE to get stunned, which can take time if they're looping around windows whatever.

IMO, take out haunted and add thrilling. Play billy or something and just go to any gen that’s not blocked. That way you could play on most maps. Doubt it’s a great build but could be fun. Could also use Freddy with the add on that makes all the gens bleed to force them off.

Dead Man's Switch on Freddy with class photo where you can trigger the teleport and cause blood to erupt from all gens. Good chance a person will get off a gen when that happens.

I just want to point out, there were a few times OhTofu ran toward a survivor with an already blocked gen. Shouldn't you chase after any other survivor that was shocked in those situations? If you didn't see a sign of any other survivor then sure, but there were options sometimes.

This is what i think dead man switch should give you another passive along side blocking gens when hooking the obsession, you can kick gens that are blocked this could open up maybe some combos as well, but i still say ruin wont affect blocked gens because if you bring ruin on this build and if gens did regress thats like half the gen regressed

Hey tofu! I know you probably won't see this, but can you try it with Freddy? Maybe like dead man's switch, bbq, nemisis and whispers with the add on that makes the blood come out of all gens+faster power recovery. I know you cant fake the teleport with that add on, but maybe if you trigger your teleport, which knocks someone off the gen it'll auto cancel because the gen will be blocked and Freddy can't teleport to blocked gens? Idk, might be worth a test. I'd love to see you try

Seems more like an endgame perk. Hook the obsession, get to the gen right before they finish it, kick them off of it, and you'll actually have time to chase them. Seems like it could come in clutch.

I think ruin would help a lot more than haunted grounds. Because you already have so much map preassure. And your problem with not being able to regress the gens would be gone.

It seems to me the perk is meant to disable two or three people at once. Say two survivors are working on a gen and you hook the obsession. When one of those two survivors lets go of the generator to make the save, he actually locks the gen down for both survivors. Forcing both of them off the genny and out into the playfield, assuming one doesn't just sit there waiting for 45 secs. I don't think you can really force the perk to work, I think it's a late-game perk that's intended to start tying up gen rushers with the natural flow of the game.

I would still run Ruin with it 1. Totems are hard to find on The Game 2. Ruin makes people commit to the gens 3. You don't need to care about not being able to kick the gens when they are locked 4. As you saw, Dead Man's Switch didn't activate much. Why? Because once people find out what you're doing, they'll stop working on the gen while you hook the obsession, wait for the zap and then start working on them. Ruin discourages that.

Alright hear me out. Dead man's switch, thrilling tremors, furitive chase. And make your choice. You use dead man's switch and thrilling tremors as your information perks. Then you use furitive chase and make your choice to quickly down your new obsession, increasing your pressure quickly. You dont need to eat pallets anymore, just have people save one another.
