Agreed, and I do disagree about this whole revitalizing his career this year though, just two years ago he was giving Charlotte 17 and 12.5 a game, but other than that he was injured all last year with Washington basically. He just getting the attention now because he is in LA.

Don Williams The Basketball Hall of Fame may be easier to get into than the other sports. But the Baseball HOF is filled with a bunch of PED users while writers refuse to induct other guys who did steroids because they don’t like them. The Pro Football hall also has people using their votes to fill their personal vendettas against certain players who they don’t like, while admitting guys with questionable off the field issues. No HOF is perfect.

@triiii1303
@triiii1303 3 жыл бұрын
Brent skill isn’t the metric that determines if your in the HOF. Statistics, performance, and accolades does. On all three counts, Dwight beats TMAC. Their offensive production was compatible in their primes, but Dwight also was the best defensive player in the league in that five year stretch, switching on to clamp perimeter players if need be. Tmac was never close to the defensive beast that was prime D12. Dwight went to the finals. Dwight has gotten out of the first round multiple times. Tmac hasn’t done either of those things. Dwight has more all nba appearances. Dwight has better career averages. The list goes on. And they’re players worse than TMAC in the hall like Mitch Richmond, gale Goodrich, Reggie miller etc that Dwight easily has had a better career than. This argument is so retarded. If he doesn’t make the hall, a lot of retired players needed to get their acceptances reversed

@brent9908
@brent9908 2 жыл бұрын
@@triiii1303 What's laughable is that you say Dwight's offensive production is compatible to T-Mac. T-Mac won a regular season scoring title with 32 ppg. The most Dwight after averaged was 22 ppg. It's not even close. Next I never said skill determines a HOF. I was simply making the point that T-Mac should be in the HOF bc he was consistently producing on Kobe's level for years. Kobe even said Tracy was the toughest player for him to guard bc he can do everything he can do and he's taller. I won't say "skill" since you read way too much into words and semantics. Third Dwight won defensive player of year for all those years bc there is a bias for bigs when it comes to that award. Tracy McGrady was an excellent defender in his own right. You clearly don't watch enough basketball if you don't know that McGrady was a great defender. T-Mac shutdown two offensive juggernauts in Dirk and Glen Robinson in the playoffs. However, for the sake of the argument I can be objective and give Dwight the edge on overall defensive impact. You talk about Dwight's finals appearance but he had better teams around him. McGrady never got to play with a healthy prime Grant hill. Only had a couple of healthy years with Yao, who retired early due to injury. In short, Dwight had the longevity, but prime vs prime McGrady is certainly the better basketball player. Any NBA player would tell you the same. Dwight had flaws like lack of post moves, no mid range game, poor free throw shooter, no handles. However, you cant name one flaw in T-MAC's game. I REST MY CASE

dwight was a legit superstar and best player on the team from 2008-2012, but to say he carried a bunch of role players is a massive overstatement. jameer nelson and rashard lewis made the all star team in 2009, and hedo turkoglu made virtually every clutch shot necessary for us to advance to the nba finals. not too mention we had a deep bench made up of jj redick, marcin gortat, courtney lee, and mikael pietrus. Bottom line: dwight was a huge piece of that 2009 finals team, but to say he carried us single handedly is false and short sighted

Bill Walton is in the HOF with 2 rings and a few great seasons before injury. Dwight was a force to be reckoned with for years in the league with the accolades and awards to back it up. Even if he retires ringless, I'd say he's made a great case for himself as a first ballot Hall of Famer.

I’ve been following him since day 1. Def not a HOFer. He didn’t care about winning as much as he cared about having fun. They always said back in the day that if he had iverson’s heart, he would’ve been one of the best ever. He cared more about impersonating shaq, Stan van gundy, and other players. People wanted him to be a certain way and he just wanted to joke around. Stan van gundy always asked him not to swat the ball to the 3rd row because it gives them an extra possession but he never listened. The one thing that stands out is in the nba finals. Kobe just snatched the ball out of his hands in the final seconds and the announcers pointed out that Kobe is stronger than Dwight. What does he do? Starts laughing while Kobe still kept his serious face about to win the chip. The man was gifted but had the heart of a cat and the mentality of a joker. I’m happy to see him doing well with Lakers though.

D12 was unreal in Orlando. He was the second coming of Shaq. A 5 time all pro, a 3 time DPOY, a finals appearance against Kobe’s Lakers, where he had nobody on his team other than himself, that was of serious note. Remember, the second best player on that team, was JJ Reddick. Especially if he wins a title this year, but even if he doesn’t, this is a slam dunk, no doubt, NBA Hall of Famer.

That's how these talk shows work. they might agree on certain debates but 99% they discuss beforehand in the production meeting that you will take this side and argue and I will take that side and argue. That's how that works. We have to remember these guys are TV personalities. Television characters sort of. They have to maintain that character show after show.

People don’t make hall of fame just based on skill, need accolades also, so for sure Dwight makes it if mcgrady did. But I prefer both were not in it, but if one is in the other should be also
