Here in India, never make the mistake of drinking tap water. Although the water _is_ purified before coming into houses, it still becomes contaminated from all the pipes and containers. Every house has a water filter for drinking water.

In the south of England water can be fairly ‘hard’ (meaning it contains more limestone I believe), but it’s completely safe!! Water elsewhere in the U.K. is softer, which means that soap will get more bubbly and stuff. I feel very grateful to live somewhere where tap water is safe to drink. The water hardness varies depending on the underlying geology. Where there’s a lot of chalk/limestone (e.g. chilterns, bath, south east, etc.) that are where the water is stored underground the water ends up full of minerals. Living in those places means descaling the kettle every couple of weeks/months and sometimes having ‘chalky’ water unless you filter it.

From Denmark: Yup, I always drink the tap water here. Denmark has a LOT of very clean underground water so there’s no danger in drinking the tap water (unless you’re specifically told not to, of course). It actually takes less than an hour to drive from where I live, to the town where most of our bottled water comes from. So fun fact! If you live in that town, you’d be drinking water bottle grade water straight from the tap.

A general rule of thumb for me, when you’re travelling internationally, is to drink bottled or filtered water rather than their local tap water. Tap water in the UK has essential minerals that disappear when you filter it, our water is from the water table & is treated, not sure if its a similar system in america but here it's safe, in some cases it's more beneficial drinking tap water than it is certain bottled waters (which is taken from the same springs as our tap water btw) due to pH levels (lots of videos on youtube testing this theory). My water bill in Yorkshire is expensive but worth every penny coz my tap water tastes unreal & id choose it over any bottled/filtered water in the world.

In the Uk, (used to live there for 8 years), the water is all filtered. It has this weird taste in the back of my throat, somehow still thirsty but at the same time not but other than that it’s normal. I’m now in a different country without filtered water, I have a pitcher filter but we don’t usually drink it.

For me, it's acceptable if it's used in cooking or has been boiled. Heck, even ice made from tap water is okay. But I can never drink it straight from the faucet. It tastes weird and it's just really unsettling overall. Idk. It's probably psychological at this point. 😅

Here in Finland, and most of scandinavia, tapwater is very safe to drink, and tastes pure. You can drink it straight from the tap, without even thinking about it

Costa Rican here! Where I live its completely safe to drink tap water, you probably could drink hose water 😂 BUT! In hotels and resorts is pretty much advised to buy bottled water, not beacsue the water is dirty but because the filtering is not as through as it is in other places.

In the US, depends on where you live. I prefer filtered for peace of mind since my family lives near a sewage treatment facility, but I can imagine the same is felt by those who use well water.

UK tap water is super safe in the UK, and it tastes delicious!! I personally think we have some of the best water in the world. You can go online in the area you are staying and see what additives etc they add to their water in that area xxx

Morocco here, I grow up drinking tap water, it's cleaner than the water they buy actually it's not a thing buying water, unless you are really thirsty however some places have clean tap water but it tastes awful I couldn't drink it. We have a thing we call "gola" in our dialect, is a heritage that still to this day used to store water and cool it, my mom also claim it purifies it too but I don't know about that, it's made of natural cooked clay.

Hey, it’s Singapore, you can pretty much say it’s safe to do so. At one point we were laughed at for being able to drink our own waste water, now it’s a treatment method used in several countries. That was 20 years ago when we first started using NEWater.

In my area, no. They recently messed up filtering out the water, they said something about opening a wrong valve and now the water has wayyyy too many different chemicals in it.

I'd only drink filtered water if the water in my area isn't soft. As in, it tastes like lime scale from the local rocks it flows through. We've had contaminated water in the UK before, but the warning went out quick in the effected area. Nothing like flint, took a week to replace the effected filter that let through a parasite but we just boiled our water and stored it in jugs in the fridge in the mean time.

We one of those water dispenser things where you take a gallon of water and thank put it on the top and the water comes out nice and fresh and clean. And you can refill the gallons at some grocery stores so it's environmentally friendly as well👌🏻

Up in Michigan, unless your in Flint or a few other minor places, the tap water is very good. But sometimes you will get contaminate from pipes. Like tiny bits of dirt that just sink to the bottom of the cup. But that had never discouraged me. I was taught to drink tap water at a young age and i never thought anything of it.

I live in a Canadian big city, we have really good water filtration and fluoridate water, so I drink the tap water no problem, except at work since it’s an older building and I’m worried about the condition of the pipes. Growing up though I grew up on a farm with well water, and while that actual water in the aquifers was good by the time it got to the surface it was exceptionally hard and full of iron (stained everything red) and sulphur (you could literally light the end of the garden hose on fire and have water coming out of it at the same time) so we would have to send it through a water softener to take out most of the hardness and the iron and then through a still to make distilled water to drink.

Tap water usual has chlorine in it which doesn’t do any harm except it just has a funky taste. Their were a couple incidents in the United States where people had methane in their water which is toxic. Preferably I drink the water that comes from my fridge since it has a filter and it doesn’t have any chlorine in the water.

It depends where you live. In the Arctic, there are cancer causing chemicals in our tap water from generations of spilled chemicals and dumped waste. Being in an isolated location there was nowhere to put trash and waste. We have a lagoon where there are rusty barrels that people used to put their waste in, then they just threw the rusty bins into the water...

I live in the US, I would never drink tap water when I lived in town limits and had town water, everyone used to say I was weird and picky. I live not far from Baltimore and Baltimore has an issue with lead, so after what has happened with Flint Michigan, I feel like I dodged a bullet. Now, I live out of town limits and have well water with a filtration and conditioning system, but I still rarely drink the water, probably out of habit, I usually go to a natural spring near my house for drinking water, my grandparents have been getting their drinking water out of the spring for over 50 years and it tastes better than most bottled water
