"Fred as a left-sided 8, because he's left footed." Wrong. Fred was a right-sided 8 and Bruno a left-sided 8. Huge difference. Fred has gotten 3 assists from the 4 games he has played as a right-sided 8. He's much more isolated and has fewer option when playing as a left-sided 8. The reason why he always seems to play better and creates more chances in Brazil National Team is that he plays as a right-sided CM, rather than left-sided CM, as he also did in Shaktar Donetsk. Assists in the last 4 games as a right-sided 8: - FA Cup vs A. Villa - EPL vs. A. Villa - EPL vs Brentford. And we never really played 4-2-3-1, which so many thought we did. It was a 4-3-3 in which either Fred or Bruno press really high up to the 2 center backs.

I know zoom zoomers wants instant gratification.. and football does move faster in its progression than it did a decade ago.. but it’s still a marathon, there’s still a shitton of factors and stuff is gonna take time. Being an interim manager is a short term commitment and your influence and power is limited.. so you gotta judge relative to the circumstances. I love the bluntness. His honest assessments helps sanitize the weak mentality that’s going on in the club. We see a lot of small improvements on a game to game basis. We’ve gotten squad rotation and giving the youth a chance. That’s a lot compared to what we had before. I don’t say it’s a 10/10 job, but probably a 6/10 bordering to a 7/10 which is a huge improvement, because we were far lower before. I’m happy he’s here, I do think if Tan Hag gets in, those two will sync together really well, they play similar way but divert a bit from each other. We all know that the managers getting into the post, are gonna have one hand tied on his back. I’m satisfied so far with Rangick. Not ecstatic, but he’s doing decent.

I don’t personally think that Rangnick being a consultant or director at the end of the season will be detrimental to the next manager. Both Poch and Ten Hag work under directors of football already, pretty much all successful European clubs have that sort of model. As long as they’re in agreement with the direction it should work 🤷🏻‍♂️

For anyone who's seen Rangnick as a manager in the 90's and 2000's, it's not odd at all, he was a fabulous manager and ahead of his time. I think United should consider him as a permanent manager - IF he wants that. I think that's what it all hinges on, he might prefer to be in a sporting/football director role. But if he should want to continue, I'd say let him! You won't find a better manager that's not already at a top club. Also it's not "Geigenpressing", that would mean Violin pressing. It's Gegenpressing (counter pressing).

I'm hoping that "consultancy" is a soft way of talking now about him being the sporting director in the future and helping them build united into a modern club without coming right out and saying in the middle of the season that they're going to fire fletcher and murtough and move forward with someone like Enrique or ten Haag as the coach under Rangnick.

Really interesting discussion but it simply isn't true about Varane. He missed a number of games but was fit for all but Liverpool, City, Watford and Villarreal in Ole's last 6-7 weeks. He got injured at Villarreal away shortly before Liverpool. He's only been fit for 4 of Ragnick's games in charge
@ILikedGooglePlus
@ILikedGooglePlus 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, and it's far too simplistic to say that United's problems are down to a single individual, whether it's Ronaldo being not fit enough for pressing, Varane being injured, or Ole. There's something holistically wrong at United, and has been since Ferguson left. It can't be fixed by just swapping manager every few years, or spending 100£mil on a couple famous players every summer, even if it means United luck themselves into the Champions League every ow and again. They need a complete behind the scenes overhaul, and hopefully Ragnick is the beginning of that in the summer, and not the end
@liamr194
@liamr194 2 жыл бұрын
@@ILikedGooglePlus agree with that word for word mate! Although I think the rot was allowed to set in under Fergie personally, that squad was allowed to wilt from 2009 instead of building on it. We allowed Ronaldo to leave, Scholesy to retire, Hargreaves went, Pique left, the average age of the team was 29 when Fergie left and he took discount options on Valencia, Owen Young, Kagawa, Pope and even Bebe. D'yu remember all that "there's no value in the market" when the fans were begging for a centre mid? The solution was to get Scholesy out of retirement. For me, despite the money spent since, it can all be traced back to The Glazers and the faulty hierarchy they installed.
@KaiXx751
@KaiXx751 2 жыл бұрын
@@liamr194 I agree. I remember in 2010 there were calls for Carrick to be sold! Yes he had a renaissance (IIRC the nadir was a FA Cup semi final (2010?) where Toure ran past him to score the winner) 2011 onwards, but the midfield was sorely lacking back then. This was probably when Fletcher also had his UC and began to not be the same player- so we had an aging Scholes and Giggs, and the holy trio of Anderson, Cleverley and Gibson. The fact it was such a well oiled machine kept us at the top end. Its been a problem area for a decade, and the fact we've hardly had any decent CM prospects from the academy for years is also a concern for me...

I genuinely think he's trying to impress the board and get the full time job and that's why he keeps playing the same bad midfield and maguire, if he fails to see vdb Is light years better than mcfrshit then I don't want him to be permanent he didn't do any major change.

@@raiden_187 Jesus Christ. You're beyond help 😭 I can't see a single reasonable point in that entire poorly written block of drivel... Apparently the board "like" McFred...? Apparently I said that "Mcfrshit" (??????????) are good enough...? Ralf is trying to impress the board by... not winning convincingly? Ralf is working with all of Ole's coaches when Mckenna, Carrick and Ole himself are all gone and Phelan is taking a back seat...? Donny is a "genius"...????? In the few minutes he's played, he's played well?????? The last game he started, he literally played the pass that stopped us from winning the game, from McFred's position of all places! You don't speak football, you speak brainwashed twitter nonsense.

I think the idea of him developing the players was in an indirect way, his elite mentality is second to none and it shows in the way he trains, the way he conducts himself. If United’s youth were to shadow him without him having to put any effort into them, they stand to gain a lot and there’s no harm in doing so

It's definitely far too simplistic to say that United's problems are down to a single individual, whether it's Ronaldo being not fit enough for pressing, Varane being injured, or Ole.

Ralf reminds me a lot with Bielsa. Both are hardcore pressers, both are highly rated by great managers in world football today (Pep, Klopp, Tuchel, Pochettino), and oddly enough both are not as successful as we might think. I can't wait to see Man. United vs Leeds in the upcoming game.

Adam’s view on RALF is already biased. The way he scoffed at his tactics and his view on Ronaldo is not here to develop the players baffles me. How can experimentation of different tactical setup not be a good thing? It shows aptitude and understanding of the game, and also the willingness to take risks. As for the Ronaldo part, everyone can see how Greenwood & co are just too arrogant to take in the views of a 5-time Balon D’or winner and have not improved and developed since they arrived.

I like ralf, I think he's a great couch but what frustrates me Is that he isn't as strict as people said he is. He spread his cheeks for the board and keeps playing the same horrible midfield he did improve us a little bit defensively but we keep squeezing out wins and his favorite word control isn't there. I genuinely think he's trying to impress the board and that's why he keeps playing the same bad midfield and maguire, if he fails to see vdb Is light years better than mcfrshit then I don't want him to be permanent he didn't do any major change.

The main problem Ralf has to solve now is that dreadful midfield. And considering it's 3 days before the window ends, there's no sign of United signing a new midfielder which is worrying. Ralf cannot work with a midfield of McFred and Matic for the next months if he wants to make top 4. Donny is not favored and the squad just simply don't have any quality in that area.
