I just wanna see the reaction on people's faces when they see the trailer

If you want to see a snow white live action movie that's exciting, there's two and they're called "Snow White and the Huntsman" and "Mirror Mirror"

The most ironic thing about Disney’s Snow White is that the animated film itself was inspired by the 1916 silent film of the same name for which Mr. Disney himself watched. I watched that film (though I doubt it is a complete film) and clearly didn’t resemble the animated film in many ways.

Considering its track record, it's hard to be excited for this. Excited for any live action remake.

I really feel that this is was caused by the buzzfeed Era of internet with their cynicism towards fairytales "Aurora didn´t do anything in her own movie" "cinderella married a rich man to saved her from her family" "Ariel changed herself for a man" "Belle had stocolm syndrome" people just get tired of analyzing everything to find what´s problematic on it.

They already did a GOOD modern Snow White. It's called Mirror Mirror, and guess what? They do tackle the discrimination and lack of jobs little people in that world didn't get, and they were forced to become bandits to survive. Snow White has a good arc, she grows, she learns to become a leader, and she still has her prince charming at the end. (granted that the actor now is controversial, but back in 2012 nobody knew that). I have no doubt they are going to “borrow” a lot from this movie and also Snow White and the Huntsman, where we also have a “warrior princess Snow White”. But back in 2012, we didn't have so much of this “hate watching”, and the actors were not bad-mouthing prior versions of the story. I don't include Once Upon a Time, because it's not the best version (it's Disney, by the way), and in the show they avoid little people as well.

The thing is, there’s only so many times that controversy can market a film. Disney already has a bunch of films with this anti marketing under their massive IP belt. I don’t know if people will go see it. The Little Mermaid live action CGI fest already barely broke even. So I don’t think this film will make a profit.

I've got a horrible feeling about it-

Maybe this is a crazy idea, but if they hate the Disney version, instead of just completely bastardizing the movie, base it off the original! There's still romance, but Snow is older, she's not entirely helpless, and there's also some potential for a good film in it. The original movie did go very by-the-books for most of it but cut a lot out that could be repurposed for a newer film in our day of longer runtimes. Also I'm not sure any remake can be more generally hated than Mulan, but that's a very, VERY high bar to clear, so second place probably isn't too hard to snag.

Rachel said that Blanca Nieves waa big in Latin America, which made me think: why not make an original Snow White film (new characters, music, story, interpretations) set in Latin America? I'm sure people would adore it.

Honestly, if you want to see a good retelling of the Snow White story, ABC’s Once Upon A Time is a fantastic show that does just that with Snow and dozens of other characters. Ginnifer Goodwin is the only true live action Snow White in my book!

Its one thing to d*ck with the original for the sake of a cashgrab, but its clear that Disney and Zegler have open disdain for the source material, so why should they expect us to like their angry remake that is openly attempting to replace the classic?

Is it wrong that I'm scared to see how this live action film will turn out? I can understand wanting to reimagine and retell the tale of Snow White but the concept of that reimagining has to work well with the story you're working with. Maybe they could have made an original movie that revolves around the Snow White concept but in a different way. The main character goes through struggles almost similar to Snow White or has the nickname Snow White or just Snow. Instead of seven dwarves, it could be a team of seven specialists of particular skills who train the main character to be their strongest self to take down the "evil queen" of the original idea and save the day. The signature poison apple can be incorporated as a different object, project or weapon to be retained in the story. With that you have your original live action take on Snow White. You have an independent Snow White, you the seven dwarves but not dwarves but still seven, you have the poison apple, everybody wins.

Don't hate-watch it. It will get money and more garbage will get created in the future Also, the original 1937 Snow White is kind and sweet to everyone she interacted with, something that a certain somebody "forgot"

Imo it feels more like they wanted to remake *Brave* but some higher up said no, do Snow White first, and so they combined both movies.

I think the real issue with the live action Snow White film is Disney labeling it as an live action remake instead of reimagining because nothing about this is following the source material of the original film. If Disney wants to make a new Snow White movie that happens to be live action then do it but don't call it a live action remake because people like me are expecting to see things from the original film translated to live action and when you don't do that of course fans are going to be pissed just call it an reimagining and call it a day

As a German I can confirm in Germany it will. I actually see why people say that is appropriation of the German culture, because Disney is literally slandering one of the most important pieces of German culture. The German Gebrüder Grimm Fairytails are about the most famous piece of German culture right after r/place and that bowl bro you know what bowl even though you don't know where tf it came from. However, every child here has had their parents read them these stories, the traumatized kids heard the original versions and the protected kids heard the kid friendly versions. I am not saying that you should stay deadass to the original, especially not because the Queen literally ordered her Highest servant to fcking bring her snow White's guts to prove she is dead and he then proceeds to kill a wild animal and bring her it's intestins because he was not able to kill a fcking girl obviously. Also she is 15 and the prince is literally twice her age.(I think he was 32 I am not quite sure rn) I genuenly don't want a Disney movie where this happens but yeah my problem is quite obvious when you read the first parts of the original or the kid friendly version or watch the first few minutes of the original Disney movie where the guy in the mirror literally describes snow white (who is also named snow white for that very reason) as a girl with coal black hair, red lips like roses or blood and white skin like snow. That is because in historical Europe and Asia pale skin meant you are royal, because royal people are not going into the sun, just like my Gen Z ass and therefore their skin stays pale. The general folks, the peasents if you will are more tanned because they work in the fields under direct sun most of the times. Another huge problem is the seven people with different ethnic background, so Disney can't be called racist anymore. Yeah but now I can call them Ableist and I would be right. This could have been a chance for seven people with dwarfism to get the roles for the dwarfs and become famous. Disney just snatched that chance away. Thanks Disney for nothing. I may not really be a member of the bodily disabled community, but I am still fighting for my people, allthough I am mentally disabled and I see ableism when I spot it. (I honestly don't like the phrase mentally disabled because my brain does not make me unable to do shit, society does The part that my brain plays into it is caused by trauma which is caused by the system and the original versions of the Gebrüder Grimm Fairytails, which is also a problem caused by society and the Grimm brothers, but I have no substitute phrase.)

Why do so many studios keep putting people who hate the original material in charge of making remakes or adaptations of it. First the witcher, now Snow White? Seriously, if you want good product that is based on an existing one, make sure the people who make it like the original in the first place. Make sure that they are people who truly understand the fans.

Most people don’t understand the destruction of snow white along with the other marvel. IP’s are part of an overall strategy to destroy Disney. The consistent failure of Disney productions screams, intent. The interesting point is Snow White was the first big animation success and it just may be their last big Animation failure.

The remakes are already a bit of an insult to animation. But this. This feels like a slap in the face. Snow White And The Seven Dwarves is not sexist. It is not ableist (if that’s even the correct word for the situation with the no dwarves thing?). It is a wonderful piece of animation history, and should never have been touched by the remake trend. What IS sexist is to say that a woman CAN’T enjoy taking care of others. And to say that she CAN’T dream of a Prince Charming. Just because not all women want that, it does not mean no women do.

Don't forget that Schneewittchen (Snow White) is a German fairy tale. I think people like Rachel Zegler should call that cultural appropriation😂

I realize this is a bit of a tangent, but... People expect Captain America to beat up German soldiers in WWII, especially when they're actually Hydra. They didn't expect Wonder Woman to beat up German soldiers in WWI when their excuse for making it the earlier war was that it was more morally grey and then pin the blame on one general, an insane scientist who doesn't get comeuppance, and a last minute Ares. Her second film is even worse. Yeah, she fights Cheetah near the end, but she'san afterthought, and everyone else is just a normal person. In the animated film, she fights mythological Greek monsters. They keep making the same mistake with recent Hercules films. Ignore the source material where they fight equally powerful enemies, just have them beat up dozens of faceless goons that are beneath their power levels.

Rachel Zegler I thought was such an odd choice for the film. Of all the Disney Princesses, Snow White is... the only one with a prescribed appearance in every version of the tale? Little Mermaid - could be green skinned. Others - not described at all or had a variety of descriptions. Moana and Mulan and Pocahontas match the source of the tales both fables and truths. But Snow White? Disney cast an actress with Colombian tones as Snow White? Yeah she's got brown hair, and yeah they'll put red lipstick on her, but if they make her look pale on screen that will be offensive, and if they don't then she... well she would have no reason to have the name Snow White because she won't have skin the colour of snow? It's the name of the character and the film and the fairy tale 😂 Look at Mirror Mirror - that's the colour set, with our without makeup and hairpiece. She legitimately has those lips and that skin, it's not make believe it's a real thing that you'd would find in some (not all) people from the region's that the fairy tale originated. Disney is setting itself up again for a shit storm, plus setting up Rachel for being hated because she was cast. She can sing - that's great. She can act - excellent news! But no matter what the end result is, the character on screen will be named, bizarrely, after someone else's skin. I don't love the cartoon. My family is not a cream skin tone or germanic. I've got nothing tied to this film. But fck me dead Disney has decided they are going full steam ahead with representation and it's impressive, also invariably going to stir up hate. Sometimes I am convinced even if they have gotten white actress for both TLM 2023 and SW 2024 people still wouldn't see them. There would have still complained about something. I mean the new Peter Pan film was bad so having a white Tinker Bell on that film wasn't going to benefit the film at all.

Thing is with the original Snow White, and with that I mean the version written down by the brothers Grimm in the 19th Century, was never a tale about romance. The moral of the story was: "Don't trust f**king strangers coming to the house when your alone!" (Also "be kind and hardworking then good things will happen and people will look out for you") Also I think they could have avoided a lot of controversy simply by going with the narrative that they wanted to be more faithful to the Original. Because a lot of "Problems" People (aka Buzzfeed in 2012) had with the 1937 version are not in the Original. Mainly the true loves kiss stuff is not included at all. Snow White gets revived because one of the princes servants, who were carrying her coffin, stumbled on a root and that dislodges the poison apple from her throat and she wakes up. Also it is explicitly stated in the end that Snow White becomes a Queen by marrying the prince so there's that whole leadership deal ticked off. Also there's some other fun stuff They reiterated that message three times. First with a laced bodice that the evil queen made too tight, Second with a poisoned Comb and third the famous apple. Fun thing about the Apple, the tale states: "Are you afraid of poison?" asked the old woman(Evil Queen). "Look, I'll cut the apple in two. You eat the red half, and I shall eat the white half." Now the apple had been so artfully made that only the red half was poisoned. The main issue Disney (and all of Hollywood really) is theyve decided every single female character now should be a poster girl for empowerment and potential. So they've created a media where women are only allowed to be one thing - not only is that thing the opposite of what Princess Snow is, its also the opposite of what feminism was supposed to be, that women can be anything they want. You can be a girlboss IF you want to. But feminists now find it unacceptable that some women don't want to be, many women are soft and gentle and loving like Snow. But that's not gonna overthrow the patriarchy is it? 🙄 To this film, stripping iconic motifs is the biggest issue, Zegler's unappealing loudmouth personality a close 2nd. Gadot (Guh-doh) is actually the best thing about it, which is not much to brag about but she's not woke as many assume. Her walking away from any and all future projects is the biggest tell there. This movie bombs so hard even the co-lead is disowning it!

At this point it's a totally toss up if it'll do good at the box office. Like you said hate watching can absolutely boost its views but also it could effect the reviews which a ton of people use to decide what movie to watch. Another possibility is that it'll get the little mermaid treatment where the black community and poc communities bought tickets in mass even if they weren't going to actually watch the movie boosting ticket sales but instead of the black community it'll be women and or people who identify with this style of feminism. Lastly the biggest thing that'll actually affect the ticket sales is Disney themselves more specifically Disney + . I can't tell you how many times I've heard why would we watch in theaters when it's going to be on Disney + in a few months

It's just got hated because of Zegler's comments and "Latina" Snow White. But based on test screenings, I heard that it's one of the best live action remakes, and it's prayed by Greta Gerwig's writing and Rachel Zegler's songs. Also, I heard Gal Gadot played Evil Queen very well.
