Hello there. Just discovered your channel and really enjoying it. Got my ancestors military record some time back. He was in the Gordon Highlanders and fought from Copenhagen, through The Peninsula Campaigns and was wounded 7 times. Finally he was hit in the head by a musket ball at Waterloo and survived. Not much ballistic protection I guess from his bearskin. Retired in Kingston Jamaica after 23 years service and became a Kilt-maker on Skye and lived happily into old age. Tough men in those days.

The thing is, the helmet has been shot already, so the structure is compromised. Also, he's shooting the same side every time. I used to make soft and hard armour for the Army and police.

Exactly what I was thinking about multiple helmets. Any time a helmet is compromised it would be replaced in the field. You just aren't really going to see helmets take 5-6 rounds. Would have been nice to see a new helmet for each shot, or at least only one shot per side. I know that would be pretty expensive but I can dream.
