Kinda random for this video, but i wanted to comment this before forgetting to mention it again. When you pull the 5.7 out of the ram, you should either put forged pistons in it or at least gap the rings for boost. That way when its in the 2nd gen you can throw whatever at it no problem. The stock pistons can handle decent power as long as the ring gap is big enough/correct. Thats what kills the 5.7 when boosting and breaks pistons.

I'd suggest taking the heads to someone who knows what they're doing. You just need a LIGHT touch-up on the valves and seats. You don't need somebody going crazy on them. You want to make sure you have a 30/45/60 LIGHT grind on the seats. Lightly dress the intakes w/ a 45 face and a 30 deg backcut. The exhaust need just a light enough 45 deg grind to remove any pits. A backcut on the exhaust valves is controversial for flow reasons. I usually do it because I want to narrow the face appropriately, and I think it can't hurt flow.

The orange deposits are from boostane or torco octane booster. Its a byproduct of the MMT they use to help raise the octane level of the fuel.

I think since you got it this far pulled down. I'd go all the way down to Bare block take the block get it hot tanked somewhere check the bearings check the crank I mean you're already this far why not.

Great video, lots of info... I like to use solvent when I check for valve seat leakage, it seems to find all the highs and lows. I could never recommend gasoline for obvious reasons.

Very cool! Might not hurt to go ahead and lap all the valves while you got it down that far. Thanks for the video!

Looks like good news john .. i really like to know what all that gunk was you were pulling outa that hole at the back of the engine you said it looked like grease or something .. can you jeep us posted on what that was an is that normal to have that ? Your definitely taking all the right steps to be cautious an make sure now its all good before Installing in the engine 👍

He is building the Ram 1500 that Dodge should have offered a regular cab 1500 with a hellcat is far better than the SRT-10. Reminds me of the muscle trucks of the 90's like the lightning and 454ss. I can't wait to see it finished.

that motor looks fine to me. If you want to see if you have a leaking valve put your spark plugs back in, tip the head to the valves are facing up and fill the chambers with alcohol. Then look in the intake and exhaust ports for signs of any alcohol leaking through.

Don't forget to get all new head bolts as they are torque to yeild and a complete gasket kit for the hellcat engine valve seals ECT..... better safe than sorry I say.and you are correct NOT to port anything at the moment.....cut open the oil filter see what is in there as well.... hopefully TRX oil pan comes with or you ordered the oil pickup at the same time and new oil pan bolts....I got a print out from my local dodge dealer for any and all spec's on the engine and torque sequence and degrees and states do not reuse head bolts,main cap bolts, connecting rod bolts,oil pan bolts, Crank damper bolt,or intake manifold bolts, it's good to have friends that work at dealership to be able to get factory tech sheets from...oh and get the vin# from the side of the block LH side oil pan rail close to rear of engine you can find out what it came out of year and make 👍✌️👌

The orange paper material that you found on the inside of the engine on the video looks the same color that’s on the block is it possible of some kind of paint that got in there

being the blower had massage work to it, maybe the "splooge" as Freiburger calls it could have gotten flaked off and blown through the motor via the blower PSI?

By the looks of it i think it just needs serious TLC for the hellcat engine 🤔 clean up everything and reassemble it back with need gaskets I think it will be fine I faith in it and still get the blower checked #BSTEDMTRSPRTS

i musta got confused, the motor that ran high 13,s must have been the stock 5.7 an you liked it,after that,an the old blue an white striped one,i musta got lost , cause of so many things goin on etc.i want it all to go well,or i wouldnt get so irritated,but mostly of course the hellkota........

Your viewer who made a comment to clean up the heads by porting them now is correct because you mentioned it being a heavily modified project to be tuned well why make the work twice as laboring when you toss this beast in and wished you went the added steps just looking now you can see the carbon left from gasket match alone tells you to open things up safely

Hopefully, this possible catastrophe has been averted. I don't know how others feel, but I don't trust anyone's "word" that an used engine is good. That said, if I were doing this swap, I would've done a complete tear down of the engine just so I would know it was done correctly. It surprises me that you haven't just gone ahead and committed to doing it yourself with your attention to the little details on your projects.
@boostedmotorsports22 жыл бұрын
I hear what your saying but it’s pretty much stripped down at this point. Also the rest of the engine I can tell is all factory sealed and once the pan comes off we can check the rods for play as well as well as a few other items. She will be good to go and no corners cut in confident otherwise I wouldn’t proceed

Looks like someone was running E85 on a bad tune. Also, old-school method to check valves is to fill the chamber with brake fluid while they are upside down. If a valve is leaking you'll have an empty chamber and then the fluid will either go down the intake or exhaust ports. Hits both valves at the same time.
