Lovely and very informative video for both owners as well as for housesitters. Except the reasons you mentioned, even more disadvantages of an unoccupied home are that leaks, mold and pests, for example, go unnoticed. Especially if there is no heating or ventilation in a home. So, lots of considerations to have a housesitter whilst the owner isn’t at home. Owners are very privileged when they are able to “book” a housesitter like you.

Excellent comprehensive video, Luise! I am always impressed that you will take on any animal, including horses and rats!. I have house sat for friends with cats and dogs, but doubt I could do rats😂You are a superb house sitter.

I love horses and used to work with them and have stable management qualifications so it's more of a desire than a willingness. 😊

An excellent & comprehensive introduction to housesitting Luise 👏🏻 I’ve been researching a move to Portugal for a couple of years now, and have finally decided that housesitting is the route to take, at least to start with. Lots of conflicting emotions around the family (grandchildren galore) v personal desires. Your journey has been a great source of inspiration in that decision. I have house sat for family & friends here in the UK, and have 2 lots of friends who do it regularly through Trusted Housesitters, so I have a fair bit of anecdotal knowledge! I’ve got a Black Friday membership offer from Trusted Housesitters but I’ll hang on until your next vlog 👍🏻👍🏻

@@Solo50plus No, I wouldn’t be aiming for full time. Lots of little grandchildren here in UK, and that’s my main dilemma about making a permanent move. Housesitting feels like a good compromise at least for a few years.

Can't wait to hear your next video...I already did quiet some house-sitting in Belgium as well as Portugal...but are eager to plan some years again of house and pet sitting in Portugal. At the moment it is " babysitting" for my grandsons 😌 what I , of course...being " a good grandmom " also like to do. Especially because young couples nowadays have so much stress , keeping it all together...we want to support them. So grandparents are very useful 🤗👏🙏🕯️ Because my ultimate wish is to find one day maybe never a good nice house for myself...I want to continue my house-sitting program in Portugal. If it is okay for you, I LL contact you. All the good to all the caretakers of this planet 🙏🕯️🌈

How do you manage staying so long in Portugal? Do you have a work visa or a D7. After two and a half years surely you must have exchanged your driving licence and have a NIF number etc? Just trying to find out how you are legally working and living in the Schengen zone.

Firstly I’m not working! And I live here… I have five year residency. Stuff like exchanging the driving licence is all here on the channel. 😊
