Gandalf cannot lead riders btw. He is from Minas Tirith army list so can only lead Minas Tirith soldiers. If taking him as part of Rohan, he must be on his own in a warband. You still get your army bonus however. In relation to prone and spears, prone models can be supported by spear models. The spear model is able to strike to wound if the combat is won. FYI at 24:44 steve rolled too many dice. The rider still only gets the total of 4 dice to wound. Steve further mentioned that he was going to do 3 and 3. This is not able to be done, as each strike is doubled for going against a prone model so you have to roll 2 dice against one model at a time if that makes sense. Its a little hard to explain in typing without being there playing with you guys :p

600-800 points I think is the standard. Anywhere in there. 600 for faster game but 800 lets it be a bit more balanced since everyone can bring more toys. 23:02 Yes you can support a prone model. I think the prone model just stands up but the pike can strike. Good game guys!

Pikes count as spears for the most part, thus can support prone models.

I guess that barrage atack with troll so you could charge eomer would be much more handy. Plus I'm not sure if cavalry model can pick up the artefcr. Anyway nic battle report. I enjoy the fact that during the game both of you were forgiving others mistakes, and let each other correct them afterwards!!!

just a rules thing for you guys. on about 20:20 seconds ish when the Rohan guy charged he rolled for a throwing spear but he wouldn't have been able to do that because he charged a model in combat and only evil can shoot into combats.

The newest edition seems to be between 800 and 1000 points as the rough standard for a decent to big game of matched play.

We mostly play 400-600 at our club. Staying away from the large stagnant combat messes that occur quite easily.

I believe that the charge into the guy holding the relic at 37.40 (ish) was not a valid move as he crossed the control zone of the nearby uruk hai. Thus he would have to engage him first. Can anyone confirm if this is correct?

I'm interested to know why you always do your shooting one at a time. During the first move you had 5 riders with the same shoot value shooting at 4 crossbowmen with the same defence, so why not just roll all the dice at once?

At 33:09 you used the banner to re-roll a fight result, though the banner was in combat. I am pretty sure that the banner can't be activated while it is in combat

usually play about 700-750 is what I generally play.

The relic would have immediately passed to erkenbrand for killing it's holder
