1200 MILES FROM ANYWHERE, the remote isolated island of St Helena lies in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. This tiny island is the first British territory we have reached with Florence since we left England over 6 years ago at the start of this voyage, but the reception we received was not what we expected. Join us as we explore this remote British outpost.
We have been sailing around the world for 6 years after setting off from England in 2016 on board our 37ft sail boat Florence. Join us as we share the highs, lows, and challenges of travelling around the world by boat, Sailing offshore across the Oceans and exploring remote locations with our own little tiny house. Boat life out at sea on the ocean and off the grid.

Your videos are a tonic I look forward to watching every couple of weeks. I was at St. Helena in 2014 and; the weather was just as wet as you have experienced. The highlight of our trip there was visiting the stately, Longwood House, Napoleon Bonaparte’s residence for 5 years until his death in 1821. You tell a great story. Safe passage to the UK.

One thing that I love about remote islands is how many well maintained older cars there are. I have so many buddies who are constantly leasing new electric or hybrid cars rather than just buying and keeping for 25 years one Corolla

Woo Hoo! Beautiful. Matt and Amy, I've been waiting for this one, it seems like longer than two weeks. Wonderful shots of your hikes and you were so lucky with the manta on your dive. I've sat and watched 20 of them swirling over my head in the Maldives, it's so, so magical... Fair winds to Brazil!

Wonderful video production quality. Having such photogenic material helps, but it take a lot of skill and exceptional talent to capture it so well. Many thanks. All the top YT sailing couples are obviously skilled at creating sailing videos, but you have the eyes and and feeling and the wide range of shots required to convey the reality of a small yacht interacting with the wind, the waves.

This was one of the most interesting videos I’ve seen in a long time, it was better than any documentary I’ve seen on the island. So many informative facts and idiosyncrasies that aren’t common knowledge & make it somewhere anyone would want to visit or put on their bucket list. Thanks!❤

And that swim with the ray was a remarkable experience. I once had a similar experience with a Manta, as interested in me as I was in it, but then others joined and one went to touch it … and it was gone. Other occasions with dolphins coming to introduce their young to these awkward bubbling creatures attempting to swim under the surf as they guided past. Wonderful

With yet another cinematic adventure under your belt: it's time to cast some shade. The Annapolis Sailboat Show hosted a YCA awards ceremony. Winners pale in comparison to yours. IMHO, YCA is more of a popularity contest. The more T&A shows, the more views. The who's shagging who, for some. If ever there were a more deserving channel, it would be yours. Thank you for the hard work and effort you deliver. You're reaping your rewards by living life to the fullest. 🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆A mantle full of awards. 👏

I rigged a hammock on eye bolts between bulkheads--only used it when in a seaway or rolly anchorage. HUGE improvement to sleep--and CHEAP. Those old sailing ship systems had some stowable advantages.

A volcano in the middle of an ocean. A small island in a temperate zone of an ocean, typically it rains often. What ever blows over the ocean just continues on through and there is no tempering of that due to a continental land mass. No doubt it is very green, at least where there’s soil and not scoria, in your case. I live in Auckland, New Zealand. It’s very green here as well. It rains often in winter and spring, most days in fact, at least at some point in the day. This is the home of “four seasons in one day” as is St Helena I expect.

Thanks for a wonderful look at St Helena. The locals are doing a great job of revegating the landscape the last that I heard. Bureaucracy in English speaking country's all seem to be on a power trip, even here in Australia. I suppose if all countries were the same there would be no need to go exploring. Stay safe on your trip to Brazil.

"Manta Rays" enjoy the feeling of divers bubbles on their skin, they like to swoop through your bubble stream and will do backflips to feel the bubbles on their backs if you let out a long stream for them.

The quality of your presentations and stories continue to astound me….including the marine life and cultures. If ever a couple bring value to living a life…it is you two. Simply wonderful! ⛵️ The music for the under water filming was exquisite and that “ray” was something else. I can’t get my mind around how much hiking you did, especially as you spend so much time at sea.

Hi Matt and Amy, its good to see you again, I didnt even know St Helena exist, to be quite honest with you. As beautiful as the tiny island is I myself would be a bit scared of living Off Grid on this remote location. beautiful under water scene from the lovely manta ray fluttering through the water, I love those sea creatures. I ve heard of a very old tortoise living on the island of Mauritus, prettty much the same age as the tortoise you found on St Helena. But dont get me wrong I still think Jonathan is the oldest living being on earth. As always stunning views from the exotic island of St Helena. I wish you the best for the balance of your trip on your way back to England, bear hugs to you guys, hope to see you soon, rgs
