Another thing about Twilight Princess that contradicts the argument that it's dark is that the main plot of the game is centered around hope. The shadow beasts might have just come for Faron and Ordona, but the cloud of Twilight had become a fact of life for the rest of Hyrule. Things are bad, but there are people who hold onto the hope that things will get better, like Colin hoping that Link will rescue him and the rest of the children, Renado hoping that Link can help the Gorons and Gor Corin hoping that Link can save Darbus, Ilia hoping that Ralis will survive, Ooccoo hoping that she and her son will find their way back home, Midna hoping that she and Link can save the Twili from Zant, and Zelda and the Resistance (Auru, Ashei, Shad, Rusl, Telma, and Louise) hoping that Hyrule Kingdom will one day emerge from the darkness. It's beautiful and it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside when characters talk about their hopes and then they happen. In short I love this game and returning to it recently has only made me love it for so much more than just nostalgia reasons.
