The double hypothesis would only work with historic crimes quite clearly it would have provided no alibi if one were arrested while the other was elsewhere incarcerated or not

I agree, but it's not the strangest theory on the Ripper out there.

This is another suspect that makes no sense. Cream was a very dangerous psychopath but his MO and motivation was worlds apart from the Whitechapel killer.

Yes, his MO was so different. Yet he makes the list because of his last minute confession.
