Terry Silver listening to the stock market in Japanese is another master stroke by the writers. After you watch the whole season, and see what happens at the very end, then you'll come back and watch this episode again, and you'll think "oh yeah, Terry Silver understands Japanese, he might even speak it, and he definitely has business interests in Japan... Season 5 is gonna be awesome!!!" And you know what? It worked!

In the movie he is imbued with the Korean culture, their martial arts and mentioned the name of a Korean commander or martial arts teacher to Mr. Miyagi. There is nothing Japanese about Silver's background. This was made up to serve the current Cobra Kai.
@audibletapehiss3764
@audibletapehiss3764 2 жыл бұрын
@@kingsman8475 You say that as if adding new character layers to serve the current show is a bad thing! It's the entire purpose of making a show based on 30 year old movies. If they left Terry Silver exactly as he was, a 2 dimensional cartoon bad guy from the 80's, that would be pretty dumb. Anyway, his background in Korean martial arts and culture doesn't preclude him in any way from having taken a business interest or some language courses in Japan, which is what is implied here. Just because he has strong Korean influences, that doesn't mean those are his only influences.

I would like to see a reaction video of you on Bloodsport if you havent watched it yet. Here are the reasons: first, seems like the creators of these series love it because there is been references to it more than once. Secondly, Jean Claude Van Damme was a shotokan karate champion and in the movie he is trained by a Japanese master. Bloodsport is like a bible for all those who want to learn some sort of martial arts.

It would've been far more believable if Johnny jumped roofs first. Then the students could see that it could be done and not impossible if a 50+ year old could do it or even one of his students did it.
@hakichiki
@hakichiki 2 жыл бұрын
I think it is more believable this way, because we see Johnny realizing he has to think things through before he can act positively, and after asking his girlfriend to date him, he is a new kind of sensei who now knows he must lead by example as well as by authority and legend. Plus, he discovers he is actually not a 50 year old man still trying to find his way; he is way better than that idea. But I feel you on your take honestly, just wanna try being positive for Johnny Lawrence as he hasn't had the best of things lately? LOL.

@Japanese Karate Sensei on the Ai(ts) Kreese yells in the dojo before sparring. In Karate, we say 'Ai' as Kiai. I think 'Aits' came from a misunderstanding of reading Japanese. In Japanese, we have words we write but don't read, like k sound of knife. So 'Aits' is writing correct but they are pronouncing incorrect to read 'ts' in Karate kid and Cobra Kai.

i was taught in our dojo to let out a "ki - yie" (apologize for the spelling) Karate, - the reason was whether it was for breathing to get more from your punch from your center to in jui jitsui it was to fall without air in the lungs or to decompress while hitting the mat. is the "ki - yie" not recommended?
@SchizoidPersonoid
@SchizoidPersonoid 2 жыл бұрын
In boxing they just teach you to exhale sharply when striking or being struck. it tightens your core and keeps you from getting the air knocked out of you. The shouting probably has the same effect, but just seems a bit over the top when a simple sharp breath through the nose or mouth would suffice.

In Taoism, there is a story about a traveler on a horse arrives at a village. He enters the village, stops in front of a store and gets off the horse. He ties the horse outside and goes into the store. But every time a villager walks past the horse, the horse kicks them. This puts all the villagers into a panic. So they go to the village elder to ask him for advice. The elder says, "Show me this horse." So the villagers take him to the horse. The elder sees the horse, walks towards it, then walks around the horse, outside of the horse's reach. Then the villagers catch up with the elder and asked, "Elder, we showed you the horse! What are to do about it?" The elder replied, "Simple. Walk around the horse." This parable is also similar to Mr. Miyagi's notion of, "Remember, best block: no be there." Often times, the path of least resistance is simply avoiding the problem to begin with.

He grows the most, adapts the most, and is closest to his center of balance. I can see him evolving better than any of the others. His shifts of thinking are very rapid, he isn't as hidebound about anything as the others as he knows his own mind, and he commits to what he signs up for. Plus unlike the others, he doesn't need an earth-shifting moment to make his transition to "better than I was just before.." But that's just me. What “style” do think Cobra Kai is supposed to be, Sensei? Some say Tang Soo Do- curious about what you see in the choreography….
@luxurybuzz3681
@luxurybuzz3681 2 жыл бұрын
The original Trilogy uses Tang Soo Do for Cobra Kai. Goju Ryu Karate for Miyagi. The choreographer was a multi degree Tang Soo Do black belt.

I have realy enjoyed your wisdom add to this. thank you very much! Which side its miyagi do karate. I have never worked with karate. My great love is Reiki work with it over 20 years. I have been blessed to working with both western and eastern system. I think mikao usui teaching would of been close to how mr. miyagi did his teachings . Thank you again

I have no idea what's up with that "ais" either, though it sounds more like "aits" to me when they say it. Maybe it's supposed to be the American "hai" but it seems they use it as a kiai too. Which is at least better than shouting the word "kiai" as your kiai.
