funniest thing about the pvp bit is that, reporting what people say on servers is going to change pvp forever. if you don't like someone (or they are better at pvp than you) just auto spam the report feature and they get banned from playing minecraft (even single player btw). Minecraft hack developers for servers like 2b2t and hack developers in general are already working on implementing this feature. so if you think these "minor" changes won't hurt the community, they most certainly will. these "features" have been in bedrock for a while now, and it's just a matter of time until the 2(java and bedrock) will be indistinguishable.

Everything is fine.Nothing about minecraft changed if freedom of speech doesn't count and the best part is because the corporation that's behind the change won't give a s**t about players opinion.

Not really, 1.8.9 PvP (the superior PvP version) does not need to be changed at all. Yes, for future versions; but if they don't do anything to change combat I'm not going to complain. It's fine the way it is.

@@AnInternetMod not too safe though, anyone in 1.19.1 could report a player in say 1.8.9. So servers such as hypixel that allow all versions from 1.8 are not safe.

Just check the Reddit thread. There are so many who as tried to migrate their legacy accounts to Mojang accounts. Each time they just close the ticket without moving the account. I know this as well. So many minecraft accounts will be lost as a result from this. This is just the first step to either discontinue java edition, or to make microtransactions. They will ease people into it. They will also force Microsoft's ToS on everybody, an agreement that didn't exist when people purchased the game.

My thoughts exactly. This whole thing just looks like an excuse by Microsoft to get more people to use their services by forcing them to create accounts on their website. If you use Windows 10, it's already tedious enough just to get things up and running without having to link your computer to a Microsoft account, but if Microsoft actually goes through with this, you'll have no choice but to use one whenever you want to play Minecraft, which is ridiculous. Not only does it put everyone's personal data at risk (because, let's be real, Microsoft is not known for being that safe from hackers), but it's also completely unnecessary, as Mojang accounts have worked perfectly fine up to this point. Nobody asked for this, nobody wants this, and frankly, the fact that the only thing we're getting in return is a pointless cape should tell you everything you need to know about what direction Microsoft wants to take things in.

@@poke6z430 Mojang is owned by Microsoft, and yes, Microsoft still would have access to that data. The problem is that now Microsoft associates any account data from Mojang with my Microsoft account. Instead of effectively having two separate identities with different interests (one for Mojang and one for Microsoft) they are both combined into one identity with all interests, accumulating the information Microsoft has on me. Admittedly, I don't know what they could be doing with this data, or if they'll even learn anything new from the migration. Still, I don't trust Microsoft with my data, and I'd rather keep from using my Microsoft account as much as possible.

Are you serious? Java Edition has been linked to an account since the very start. You don't purchase the game, you purchase an account that allows you to play the game.

@@carotteatomique The idea is a Java account is pretty separate. It contains basically no information about you, and it's not connected to other information about you. The fact that you have an account doesn't really mean anything except you log in to use MInecraft.

Also, it's wrong to think the Mojang accounts don't stock any data about us. They collect some information about the game, like your statistics (nb of blocks placed, etc) and crash logs.

@@Yqe- In fairness, this cape can be taken as a "thank you" for originally buying the Java version with Mojang or older accounts. Minecon capes continue to be rare since each design is obtainable from Minecons of each year only, and never again.
