In this video we have a look at a customers 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee that came in with a customer complaint of a leaking brake line, a loud exhaust and a leaking brake line. We'll diagnose the light, see what we need for the rest of it and get approval to get it done.
-Enjoy!

*PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT* - If you are watching this video on 3/6/24 or 3/7/24 and you don't fall asleep before the end screen and you see part II is listed as "Members Only." *DO NOT PANIC* Do not send me nasty emails, don't unsubscribe, don't tell me I am an asshole or a sellout in the comments and *DO NOT CALL MY SHOP* to tell me you can't watch it. The part II will be posted on the 8th at 6am just like *I ALWAYS DO.* The reason it says members only is because there are some folks that patronize our KZfaq channel by becoming a "Member" and it gives them early access to all videos I put out. Take a breath, slow down, everything is gonna be OK. Thanks for watching! -Eric O.

So I am still amazed these people think that someone else is going to do it cheaper rather than paying you and then having documentation of the repair and being completely transparent in the process. Can you image if all employee's were scrutinized over their job duties for the World to critique? People just don't do their homework, research or read of past solutions to problems they have. Great Job as always Mr O. Got a little push back 14 hours ago eh? Yea-the public is edgy. Not enough Brake Cleaner!!!

I'm betting the "local muffler shop" will just weld the pipe back to the muffler housing. Seen it done a few times down here in the south. If they don't just remove the whole muffler and drop an Autozone "Cherry Bomb" in it's place and rock the loudness. It always sucked to be in the woods in your stand, hunting a nice whitetail deer, and hear that guy with the 4.0 with a cherry bomb on it coming. Like a fart can Honda. Scare everything within miles of you out of the woods. Well, anyway, hope to see part 2 cause you and Ray's vids are my daily dose of reality and information. Take care and stay safe.

I'm actually surprised to hear all that on the O2 sensors. Our 99 has had the had the factory ones in it since new. The front one started to give us issues however I disconnected and reconnected it and it lasted another 2 years. Last year it finally went out so I ordered two factory originals from NTK and its been good. Granted ours is not an emissions version and only has one cat and 2 O2's.
@dougkubash8673

If the early O2 sensors at least on GM's would get oil or some kind of junk on the outside of the sensor, they wouldn't work correctly because it sampled outside air along with the exhaust. I never had no luck cleaning them because what you used to clean them would further pollute the sensor. Hopefully you can get the old girl up and running. Good video

A lot of dodges use engine temp to control o2 heater circuit. I had a 2008? grand caravan 3.8 that guy replaced 3 o2 sensor himself...kept burning heater circuit up, i found his thermostat wasn't opening fully or at proper time..causing it to run the sensor too long burning up the elements in the o2 sensor.

I didn't have time to watch the entire video but something to keep in the back of your mind on Mopar systems I very occasionally run across an intermittent code on rear O2 sensors. The source for this each time has been a weak battery. Vehicle would start fine and rarely if ever set the code from say March to November, but cold weather would roll in and pop its head back up. I accidentally found the source when one vehicle needed a new battery changed battery took it for drive to pick up filters for it. Code cleared and never returned.

Years ago I brought my Jimmy in for a brake line. The shop cut the brake line at the ABS module and ran a new line down the center of the car and just left it flopping on the gas tank. Never even zip tied it to anything. They also knocked the vacuum hose off my vacuum accumulator, so I could change my defrost, vent or floor modes. This is why I'm a DIYer.

Eric.. A quick way to get around the "reset" issue with the scan tool is to just pull your starter relay and drop a temporary switch (or jumper wire) there so that you can start the car while still leaving the key on... Then you shouldn't lose your live data on the scan tool.

O2 sensors need access to atmospheric oxygen, usually through a small vent next to the wire. If it gets blocked with oil or other crud, the sensor will be unreliable. A quick squirt with brake cleaner and careful poke with a probe sometimes brings them back to life.
