I have dry skin and I used to have a peptide serum and a ceramide cream at different times and I noticed my face would remain hydrated throughout the day. I was able to tell the difference when I couldn’t afford any of them for about 2 years and after repurchasing them, oh yes, what a difference! I also noticed azelaic acid completely calmed down the flared skin I always used to have on the sides of my nose. After watching your videos I started tretinoin 6 months ago and my complexion is so much better now, less pigmentation and texture! So thanks!

Hi Jen, I love your skincare content, as basic as repetitive as it is, I like how you have been consistent and found out what works for you. I watch a great load of derm skincare content, I am passionate about the topic and even work with skincare. My main advice for everyone would be: 1 - Remember that your skin and your skin needs are very unique and what is right or great for others, even if that's the majority of people, might not be good for you (the opposite is also true) 2 - If you think you have a skin condition or you are struggling with something specific, get a proper diagnosis from a derm. You might be using something that doesn't help with what you're trying to treat, it might even making things worse. Don't follow anyone's advice if don't have a specific diagnosis. 3- If something is working well, stick to it unless it's not working anymore - use few things consistently

For me, having a very dry and dehydrated skin, I use additionally serums with fatty acids, cholesterol and ceramides ( Paula's choice omega or Stratia Lipid gold). 1. Bioderma Sensibio H2O (the only one micellar water my skin can tolerate... it is great. Garnier burns my skin like hell) 2. Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser / Cerave Hydrating Oil cleanser (it is a gel, not an oil) 3. Purito Niacinamide serum with galacto ferments 4. Retinaldehyde 0.1% from Ph. Doctor, the best one i have used so far, gave me better results than spanish tretinoin, without irritation and peeling. 5. LRP Cicaplast baume B5 or Uriage Xemose cream 6. Castor oil, mostly for the lashes, when I put it all around the eyes then sometimes i get tiny bumps, but i do put it a little around the eyes as well, not always :) During day sunscreen of course, i have many and i like a lot. I use mostly chemical sunscreens (my rosacea skin loves chemical sunscreens!)

I’m a month shy of 30 and still get mistaken for a teen… but I’m also half East Asian, so that may play in to that. I also believe in simplicity with simple active ingredients and watching/listening what your skin is saying. I’m based in London and I just use the “Simple” range of skincare… super affordable and simple. And a nice affordable sunscreen designed for the face… I use “the Altruist, face fluid” about 12 USD a month… Anyone new to skincare, this KZfaqr knows her stuff! Thanks Jen!

Love your simple approach and you look amazing! Since finding you, and Dr Dray, I use moisturizer and sunscreen, sunscreen, sunscreen in the am. I don’t feel the need to cleanse my skin in the morning. Night time is double cleanse with Alboleen, then ceravie gentle cleanser. Then moisturizer and then Tretenoin.25. I am 60 but look in my mid 40’s. Very few fine lines. I used to buy a lot of actives and I am not convinced they really did much. But the tretinoin and sunscreen and protective clothing have saved my skin. Love your channel. 😊

Switched to this simple routine after getting skin irritation from using Adapalane. I thought my skin could tolerate Adapalane well and started out using it too frequently... The skin around my mouth and nose was peeling and irritating. My skin has been healing quite well after switching to this routine. La Roche-Posay Lipikar Baume AP+M is my HG! I started using tretinoin last year in summer and I like the effect. I try different sunscreens because I want to find my holy grail :) I do enjoy skincare a lot and trying different products so I'm definitely in this category of 4-5 step skincare routine which I love! However, there are 4 things that definitely are the foundation of my skincare routine and it goes in line with yours (which are responsible for 80% of my good skin, the rest is just fluff honestly, on top of nutrition, hydration, activity and good sleep hygiene): 1) good, gentle cleansing 2) sunscreen 3) retinoid 4) rich moisturizing (cannot use tret without good moisturizers personally). I love your simplistic approach. I do use additionally: AM: vit C serum with ferulic acid and vit E, AHA and BHA (couple of times a week, otherwise my dead skin rolls under my fingers from tret), PM: niacinamide / hyaluronic acid serum. Love each step of my skincare routine and it's my time for self love

At the moment, I simply use Bioderma for cleansing (once a day as my skin is very dry, and I never wear make-up or sunscreen - owing to a severe chronic illness). I then use an essence - I like Missha Time Revolution, followed by COSRX Snail Mucin power essence (I don't think this will ever leave my routine it's so good). I then apply just around the eye area Estriol cream (estrogen cream - prescription), and the TNS Skinmedica growth factor serum all over face, neck, chest. After that's soaked in, I use the Skin 1004 probio cica barrier cream, which is excellent: a little goes a long way, it's extremely hydrating and calming owing to the Madecassoside. I tried for awhile using castor oil as last step around eyes but it was irritating, so I'm now using Le Prunier's Plum oil. It's definitely a splurge but so light, effective and smells like marzipan!

To bring an example to my point I had acne all my life and got good results from using Differin. Now in the past years I have little spots that look like acne, but when I spoke to my doctor they think that isn't acne anymore but most likely dermatitis/rosacea, so the retinoid that I am using specifically on that area thinking it'd do me good, might be making things worse. So will check in with a derm to adjust my routine!

I just turned 36 and I use a skin cleanser, vitamin C serum or Night repair by Estée Lauder, a Retinoid crème, a moisturizer and castor oil + Vaseline. Sometimes I do an AHA or BHA and ofc sunscreen.

I love your channel, your channel is very informative and educational. I have been using retinal for over a year and when I wash my face in the morning my face is extremely dry and it looks trouble. Your skin look so amazing. I am not sure what I am wrong.

Im always using vanicream vitamin c, tret every 3rd night, and vanicream as my moisturizer. I alternate a lot on my other products, it depends on the price point...but for now I'm happy I have 3 all star products

One major life changing habit that improved my skin drastically is cutting down use of make up. My skin literally improved and I stopped breaking out altogether. I still wear occasionally for special occasions but I stopped wearing it daily. I just use cleanser, moisturizer and sunscreen now.

I use a no name gentle cleanser for sensitive skin, centella ampoule for hydration, and the Hada Labo Tokyo Sunscreen, (which i have to put powder over cause it shines like a lightbulb, but it was the most affordable I could find that doesn't feel greasy or make me look like a ghost or had that awful specific sunscreen smell) Also for the powder I got an affordable one from essence that does the job. And then once a week or once every 2 weeks, I use an AHA+BHA mask.

Since I started following Dr Dray in 2019, I switched to Vanicream cleanser (loooove it), nightly 0.025% tretinoin, and Clinique 100h moisturizer. In the morning I add Vanicream Vitamin C serum and Azelaic acid because I suffer from a lot of redness. And of course my holy grail sunscreen, Skinceuticals tinted physical sunscreen. Never without. ❤ Oh and I also double cleanse with a cleansing balm before my foaming cleanser because I find it does not get rid of all the sunscreen on my face if I don't.

What a kind and lovely energy you have ❤ thank you for sharing your routine, your skin is absolutely beautiful. My hero products are Dr Vanita Rattan Cleansing Oil, Micellar Gel Wash and Cerapep moisturiser plus same Cetaphil face/body moisturiser (amazing for dry hands at work) and another Dr V product for spf - Inzincable - keeps melasma at bay. Have a great day xx

I’ve been using La Roche Posay hydrating cleanser and their Toleriane moisturizer- very mild and effective. I try to use differin at night but it seems to irritate my eyes, even though I don’t put it around my eyes. I also will sometimes use Eucerin Q-10 cream, which I love! To take my make up off at night I use Ponds cold cream and a washcloth, then follow with cleanser and moisturizer. Lately I’ve been using Neutrogena sunscreen, I think it’s the sheer mineral 50, doesn’t bother my eyes. Thank you for the video!

For too many years I believed that I needed multiple products and active ingredients, but also believe simpler is better. I think my skin is so good at age 65 is because I have used Retin-A consistently since I was in high school. I have only recently discovered Castor Oil and love it, but need to mix it with a thinner oil such as argan oil in order to spread it on my face easier. As an unexpected benefit, I found that the castor oil helps with my dry eyes.

I agree, simple is best. In the morning I cleanse, use a serum, a moisturizer and then my SPF 50 Cotz flawless complexion. I've really been loving the new cerave hydrating foaming oil cleanser. For moisturizer I use the Kiehls ultra facial moisturizer (not the cream in the tub) because the texture is incredible and it leaves the skin so dewy and plump. At night I oil cleanse then cleanse, currently using Altreno as my retinoid (INCREDIBLE formula) and then seal it all with this amazing vitamine E based cream. I will say the serum I use in the morning is egregiously expensive. It's the skinmedica TNS serum but I can honestly say I've never used a skincare product that created such an immediate and drastic change in my skin. It was hard not to be impressed with it so I'm stuck buying it now. It truly lifts, firms and evens the skin you can visibly see and feel the differnce. It's like photoshop in a bottle. That skinmedica product is truly remarkable but it is like $300

Ohhh Jennifer... the way I love your videos, specific the ones about skincare. I know you keep showing over and over the same products, simple and effective... and that is why I love it. You remind me that i do not need all these steps, I just bought 2 korean toners and stopped using them. Cleansing, serum, retinaldehyde, moisturizer and that is it! Thank you so much, my queen and guru of skincare

I love Cetaphil gentle, non foaming clanser and also i love Cerave Oil cleanser (its not oil, it is a regular Gel... that foams but it is super gentle :) My 2 fav cleansers. It feels like my skin is a little oilier now so i tend to go more for the Cerave, but cetaphil was my go to for the past 4 years)

I agree that less is more. Daytime: Rinse with warm water, Cetaphil Healthy Renew Face serum (mostly as a light moisturizer), Kroger Shimmer Tinted Sunscreen. Evening: Olay Gentle Foaming Face Cleanser, .05% tretinoin 3 times a week, alternating with Paula’s Choice 8% AHA once or twice a week, Cetaphil Redness Relieving Night Moisturizer. Thanks for sharing!

My AM routine: wash with warm water, Kiehl's calendula toner, Kiehl's Clearly Corrective Dark Spot Solution, Biore Aqua Rich sunscreen. My PM routine: wash off makeup/cleanse with Shu Uemura Anti/Oxi+ cleansing oil, Kiehl's calendula toner, Kiehl's hydro-plumping serum concentrate, Kiehl's ultra facial cream. 2-3 times weekly tretinoin 0.05% strength. I do also love the Chanel Red Camilia Revitalising Serum-in-mist. I tend twds oily skin (better now with tretinoin), living in tropical climate, all these serve me well. Yes, I do splurge a little on skincare but it is still simple, not 10-step, and I don't spend money on mani/pedi/eyelashes/clothes.

My favorite product by far, is my cleanser Oxy Acne Treament. The one with the prebiotics in it. That cleanser really worked wonders for my blackheads and funny enough my feet as well. Currently im testing out this 3% sulphur cleanser though. So far it's good, but the smell and texture sometimes makes me want to go back to my old cleanser. My other hero product is the Some by mi miracle cream. The cream truly did wonders on my scars from picking at my skin. I still use it today.

I like The Ordinary Glycolipid Cream Cleanser and Natural Moisturizing Factors with Beta Glucan. This combo seemed to finally allow me to use Differin without getting too irritated. Most people would probably not find them moisturizing enough, but I really can't tolerate heavy products. The only sunscreen I can stand is Skin 1004 Air-Fit Suncream Light.

Hada Labo oil for cleansing, especially makeup removal - no film or stinging. Beauty of Joseon for sunscreen (also, Australian gold tinted). Moisturizers - CeraVe PM or The Ordinary good old NFA/HA as it's not greasy or pilling. Unscented argan oil is nice for very dry nights. I love CereVe Healing ointment for lips or irritated spots.

In the morning I wash my face with my dermatologist prescribed benzoyl peroxide face wash, I then use a 20% vitamin C + vitamin E + ferulic acid serum on my face and then a 5% caffeine serum under my eyes. I then finish with Cetaphil oil free SPF 35 moisturizer. At night I wash again with the same benzoyl peroxide facewash and then apply tretinoin to my face and neck, and an eye serum with yerba mate, caffeine and hyaluronic acid under my eyes. I top it all off with Cetaphil hydrating face moisturizer. 4 steps in the morning and 4 steps at night. I like to keep it simple. I also sometimes use some Vaseline if my face feels dry, especially with using tretinoin. The Vaseline tip I got from you Jennifer.

Hello, I use CeraVe hydrating cleanser, started prescription tretinoin (Retrieve brand in Australia) at night at the beginning of January and my skin has adapted well and use CeraVe facial moisturising lotion PM. Morning routine is Khiels toner, vitamin C serum and Clinique’s moisturising lotion the yellow cream because it was a gift, I will switch to CeraVe once it finishes and La Roche-Posay Anthelios sunscreen. At your recommendation I started using organic castor oil around the eyes and lips. Hoping my eyelashes grow 😊I’m very consistent with my skincare and will continue to stick to these simple steps. I have been using LED mask every night for 7 months and am happy with the improvement to my skin in general. Thank you for your informative videos.

I tried tretinoin a few years ago but I went really strong and didn't like how my skin was reacting to it, so I stopped. I started seeing your videos and decided to try again and this time, with a much more simple routine and my skin looks so beautiful! But I must say, as someone who is fascinated by korean and japanese skincare products I just can't stop trying new things. haha I have oily skin and I live in a very hot and very humid city in Brazil (Amazon region, near Equator line) and my favorite-always gonna buy products are: Cerave lotion, Bioré Athlizm sunscreen (love love love) and cerave gel cleanser (oily skin version). I also LOVE shiseido's deep cleansing foam and hadalabo vitamin C foam cleanser, I find them amazing and very refreshing but I only use when my face is really greasy. I also love hadalabo's melano CC lotion, it's very lightweight and I use under the sunscreen. I tried castor oil mixed in a little bit of eye serum/cream and it feels more comfortable to use, my eyes don't get so irritated when I wake up. If I use just the oil my eyes burn sooooo damn much.
