If you're 22, built like a classical Greek statue, able to deadlift over 800 lbs at 220 lbs raw, are already a two time IPF world champ in single ply gear, maybe, just maybe you won the genetic lottery. Phenom Jesse Norris joins us to talk about his early lifting career, the transition to raw lifting, how he structures his training, and coping with the aftermath of a severe motorcycle accident.
Jesse lift this week at USAPL raw nationals. Details and live streamin info on the USAPL website. You can find Jesse on Instagram @jessenorr and / mrjessenorr .

Look kids, if you train hard enough and long enough you just may find that yes its very possible to be this strong naturally. You people need to start looking at the yesteryear of strength training. Bob Peoples deadlifting 725 at 178lbs. in the 40's and others such as Arthur Saxon & Edward Aston & William Gerardi just to name a few. And note that these athletes feats were performed in the pre-gear era. Stop worrying about what another man does and focus on YOU and YOUR STRENGTH. Amaze yourself, unlock your potential.

Goober McDabs Well yeah but those old time strong men did achieve their max after more than 10 years of training. I've been studying the 19th century old time strong men and their achievements were reasonable as a natty. Jesse Norris deadlifting 800lbs for less than 5 years is just mindblowing, and a fact that most of the people competing in IPF were doping. A man who had good genetics will never outlift other men with good genetics as well plus dope.
@mardukdemigod1523
@mardukdemigod1523 7 жыл бұрын
Mat Coddy It was a real name bro. Arthur Saxon was a 19th century strong man who was able to bent press 370lbs at 200lbs bodyweight. His record was never broken, maybe due to the fact that nobody practiced bent press anymore these days.

+Jesse Norris Whats your opinion on Amit Sapir. I heard what you said about weight cuts, and I believe he cuts somewhere arund 20lbs. I'm sure you're aware he just squatted 783, do you think you'll try to beat this?
@MrJessenorr
@MrJessenorr 8 жыл бұрын
+caleb oberrath Yeah, I'm not going to compare him and I as his squats are not walked out and depth is questionable on his squats. I'm glad he continues to reset the WR, however i'm still chasing, I believe I will be around 770lb squat, as I was intentionally training to beat his previous squat. So I will hopefully hit this, walked out and at proper depth. That is my thoughts. But I will continue on the road to 800

The kid's been lifting since he was in junior high and buses his ass, I've trained with him b4 and let me tell you I've never seen a harder worker. I don't know much about roids, so I don't wanna make any assumptions but he also does a lot of high volume accessory work, if he was on he'd be the size of Matt crock, the kids genetics doesn't just stop at his strength, he's well proportioned body wise

+kifenehma3ak The podcast is primarily an audio entity and the audio audience is much bigger than what you see on KZfaq. A lot of those people aren't even aware of Mark's channel or mine for that matter. Also, the podcast is an entertainment talk show, rather than a training information video. It's an entirely different vehicle and it was my idea and something I've worked hard to bring to life and sustain. Mark and Mike spend more time together than I spend with either one of them, because they work on Sling Shot business together. That's actually Mike's primary job. The fact that they talk more is for sure reflected in the show. It's not ideal, but it is what it is.

So jesse is all natural and is going for 2050 at 198 soon? You mean to tell me that he is going to total 49lbs less than the 220 non tested world record in sleeves of 2,099 set by Dan Green completely drug free? So what would happen if Jesse were to take steroids, would he total 2100 at 198????? I don't see Lilliebridge Jr or Belyaev claiming natural…Anyways the kid is a tank and definitely works his ass off, just rather he not claim natural.

+Anthony Benson He's competing in a tested fed. That's pretty much all he needs to say...and that's pretty much all he says.

+Anthony Benson I don't even understand your argument really, so that's fine. I don't think anybody really needs to claim anything. If they compete in tested feds, and perform well, they'll probably get tested and the outcome of the testing will be known. If they don't compete in tested feds, everybody assumes they're on regardless of what they claim, so they might just as well not say anything.

+Jim McDonald The point is that powerlifting is one of the very few sports that differentiates between tested and non tested athletes and gives non tested athletes a place to be completive, it's morally wrong to compete in a tested meet setting a total that forces tested lifters to use when you have the choice to compete in a non tested meet. I don't want to argue just want to get that point across, love the show, content is great as usual and thanks for taking the time to respond.

+Anthony Benson There isn't any way for you to know if someone is or isn't natural outside of the results of a testing system. If someone fails a test, judge their morals all you want. Outside of that, you're judging them on assumptions you're making about them that may not be true at all. What are the morals surrounding that? My only point is examine your own actions before you judge others. I'm not defending Jesse or anyone else. Just encouraging people to look at the big picture and not get caught up in some righteous indignation over things they don't even know and can't prove.
