As soon as I heard her singing at the Super Bowl I thought of Kev. I looked at my mom and I said I know Kev on stage if he’s watching this it’s saying how she is putting everybody to sleep. My mom looked at me and said well it sounds like she’s singing a lullaby or a Christmas song…. Lol🤣🤣🤣🤣

She said she sang in that key to create an atmosphere of healing....Jhene can actually do the loud, shouty singing because one of the first songs she ever recorded was like that. I think she chooses the soft, whispery thing because keys and pitch and all that mean something to her spirituality🤷🏾‍♀️

I think people believe that those experiencing mental illness have no autonomy over their situation and choices. And in some ways that's true, because you didn't choose to have your mind get off the rails. But that doesn't excuse their behaviors and choices as something they can't manage or choose to correct - and it doesn't mean their partners have to endure that behavior simply because "that's how they are", or being responsible to "fix" them because they seemingly can't fix themselves.

Jhene Aiko is like the colors of the wind. also, as a 23-year-old old soul who loves classic rock, 2000's pop punk, 70's R&B, pop, and hip hop, I was thoroughly entertained by the Super Bowl halftime show, it was like a personification of west coast hip hop (where even a Black young man from Maryland, I feel like west coast hip hop gives a better picture of African American culture than east coast hip hop), and i lost my mind when my two rap goats (Kendrick Lamar & Eminem) performed, and mad respect for Eminem for kneeling. The highs of being a Kanye fan are good and amazing to experience (talking about musically) but the lows are really low and very intolerable. And I agree with that article about how Black women aren't the thing that is gonna help Kanye West out (because we as a society asked Black women too much and not enough for them) and the best medicine for him is therapy and mediation (and I will also add Jesus too)I'm empathetic to Kanye essentially not being over his mother passing away. in 2020, I lost my cousin who died of colon cancer at the age of 33 and I have never gotten over it and it's most likely something where it's like death bed scenario where you fully get over it, but at the same time, you have to be accountable to yourself and to others and not put the blame on things, not yourself.

This is so crazy to me, because I've never seen this talked about, or even acknowledged from a Black POV. I'm about to go down a rabbit hole now, this is so exciting!! As a Samoan and Maori (indigenous of New Zealand) a lot of the Pacific (Polynesia, Melanesia, and Micronesia) can be traced back to Native Americans and Africa, in particular Ethiopia. It's all over our oral history, cultural practices/traditions, and even food.

And they should look at you crazy. The idea that black people always have wide noses, kinky hair etc is perpetuated by White racism and stereotypes. Rwandans have narrow noses, Ethiopians have loose curl hair, there are Indian people as dark if not darker than black people. We have to stop constructing the idea that blackness is based on segregation rules and start basing it on shared heritage

@@PunofHarts she never said black people ONLY have wide noses and kinky hair. There are phenotypical characteristics that are easily identifiable amongst different racial groups. For the most part, all of the characteristics you mentioned are phenotypically black.
