@@shadam_free You're wrong in saying any teaching institution. Any college graduate who hasn't learned this, and really you should know this BEFORE you go to college, hasn't been paying attention. With that, if you're only referring to grades 1 through 12, not colleges or ateliers then perhaps not. I would also point out you had horrible art teachings in the latter years if they didn't teach you at least the basic concepts pointed out in this video.
@shadam_free
@shadam_free 5 жыл бұрын
@@atenakehnaton3965 Yes you are right and I've corrected myself already. Not sure what country you live in, but primary and secondary schools dont really teach precise arts, just basics, and maybe not even that. And also I'd mention that I am at the ending year of my secondary school so I had no art teaching at all, ball I have is natural talent and videos, and I found those more effective then the 12 years of school I was wasting my time with.

@@shadam_free You should look for a book by Michael Hampton on Figure Drawing. You can find it for free as a pdf on Google, or get it off Amazon for roughly 20 American Dollars. Jim Lee took a lot from Andrew Loomis and George Bridgman. There are a lot of books out there that teach these things some good some bad.

It's so refreshing how humble you are to take the time from your busy schedule to explain these things. Sadly, not many professional artists are humble like you who take the time to answer questions. Despite being busy, many professional comic artists such as Shane Davis usually come across as snobbish when asking them tips on how to progress your art. For that, thanks a bunch Mr Lee ☺👍

The processing of Jim Lee's hand-eye-mind coordination is so amazing. It's hard to quantify his ability, but I'll I know is that you have to draw every day of your life to even get close. Specialization, like comic POVs, forms, lighting, and anatomy is a great start. I love cars, so I became an automotive designer. I admire artists who've made anatomy and the human form their life's artistic focus. Jim is one of the few that is at the very pinnacle of his skill. He is a true icon and master of comic anatomy and theme!

You're seriously the best, man. I started out my drawing life by copying the forms/lines from your work from the 90's and ended up doing okay with just interpretation, but watching you work really helped me understand how to get the volumes/shapes down with lines and shading like I hadn't before.
