Goddamn, I respect JR even more. He's a class act and sees things in a very professional way. I'm glad he's out of the WWE and he's living his life. He looks like he's lost weight, he looks great. You may not like the man, but damn it, you have to respect him. For taking all those humiliation segments all those years. One of the best wrestling commentator of all time.

stndrds79 He wasn't fired for *being* drunk and unprofessional, he was fired for failing to control a panel wherein *Rick Flair* was drunk and unprofessional. There is *nothing* to suggest he is a bitter man.

@stndrds79 10 жыл бұрын
***** why would he be fired only for the actions of someone else, like ric flair, who is not a regular person on the roster? he was clearly tipsy and i resent the fact that he would use his handicap to try to make an excuse and justify slurry speech. jr, im glad management didnt fall for that. shame on u
@WraithTDK
@WraithTDK 10 жыл бұрын
stndrds79 1. WWE thought the panel was an embarrassment, and blamed him as the host. 2. *None* of the people on the panel were on the roster. It was a legends panel. 3. He didn't *have* slurry speech. 4. Shame on JR? Shame on *you* for abbreviating 3 letter words and forgetting how your shift key works.

Why would they fire him that way? The guy worked there for 20 years. They should've done it backstage privately and then did an angle afterwards to write him off TV.

Because the WWE is now a corporate product (meaning stockholders want to be pleased) and anything that potentially threatens the bottom line of the company (even when it's not even close to doing so) is jumped on that white blood cells on a virus. This is why the WWE needs to go bankrupt.

Talk about a humiliation angle. How about the whole Mark Henry, Mae Young thing. That was beyond cringe worthy. It was as if Mark Henry pissed someone off so they set out to destroy him. Then making Big Show get down on his knees and cry and beg to John Laryngitis not to fire him. That wasn't just humiliating. It seemed spiteful.

It's absolutely pathetic how WWE treats their "employees". Keeping them all as independent contractors sure gives them a lot of leeway and they know it. How big of a douche do you have to be to surprise a long term employee with something like that? It's just another way for Vince to remind everyone that he's the boss. Jim Ross was a kick ass commentator who was also the head of talent recruiting. It's not like he was the first guy they've screwed over. Anytime someone criticizes WWE publicly they suddenly get pushed down the card and jobbed out or released. Vince keeps blaming the talent for not stepping up yet it's painfully obvious they don't have the creative freedom that they once did. I swear the only things that have changes with the script writing each week is the date at the top of the page. The least that dipshit could do is pay for their travel and health insurance considering how often he f***s them over and plays with their careers and livelihood. The guys ego means more to him than the quality of his product and he's surrounded himself with a bunch of yes men. Vince knows they won't speak up because they've lost the leverage to sign with the competition.

Jim Ross is the best announcer of all time. However, the reason why they ran these angles to poke fun at JR was because he took it for all those years. They wouldn't have done it to jerry Lawler because he would call them out or quit. I think JR needed to hold them responsible a little more.

I started listening to Jim Ross with UWF in the mid 1980's - he and Marc Lowrance at WCCW actually called the matches instead of promoting the next card or arguing with "guest" commentators (except Michael Hayes). They both had their own group of fans and didn't come off like actors playing parts, as they WWE fools do.

I don't know whether, Jim Ross is actually ok with how he was treated or if he's trying to be nice, but both as a fan (of wrestling and of Jim Ross) and generally as a person, the way he was treated was disgusting and it was bullying. There were two levels, there was the stuff where they got him to dress up in stupid outfits and get Santina Marella to flirt with him or Big Dick Johnson to thrust his cock in his face, which was just poor taste and embarrassing, then there was (face) Vince trying to tell Hornswoggle how you really do an impersonation of his JR's bells Palsy, doing a skit operation on a mannequin of JR while he in reality was actually of tv having an operation, trading him to Smackdown and not telling him just so they could see his reaction (this was at a time when RAW and Smackdown had different touring schedules, so JR would have had to change all travel arrangements for the next couple of years) and then taking him off TV, while he was still physicall on tv with the camera's rolling. I don't even know how some of it didn't break contract.

Instead of surprising people live on TV with a "you're done" type of message why don't they tell people in meetings or backstage mention "oh btw were going to have this guy cone out and do this to you and its because we want you out of this position and doing something else"? At the end of the day Vince has a severe prejudice against southerners. He hates everything about them and as much as Jim Ross gave him,he still saw it fit to reduce his character,which ultimately could affect his brand,to nothing. JR has seen worse tho,he ran with Bill Watts,im sure he has.

:O it wasn't J.R.'s decision to stop on commentary? WTF! Who decided that!? Why man.. Why wouldn't they keep the best teams?!: J.R. & King on Raw. Booker T, Cole, & King on Smackdown...
@redchris05
@redchris05 10 жыл бұрын
Several reasons: 1) Booker is fucking appalling on commentary - even worse than he was on promos. 2) Lawler is almost as bad. He's the weak link on Raw. 3) Cole and JBL are superb as a pair.

Christ J Sorry but Cole/JBL are awful. I know they're told what to say, but JBLs 'catchphrases' are annoying as shit and Cole can't remove his tongue for John Cena's ringpiece long enough to call a match. And all respect to the King, but he was 1000% better as a heel.
