@stevenleblanc8146
@stevenleblanc8146 11 ай бұрын
I kind of agree except average is a little too strong. 18, 5 and 4 plus for a stretch considered either a lock down defender or close to it. Definitely not superstar numbers or performances in the regular season but still a really good player. Years back, like 2014-2016 somewhere around there he was looked at as a budding potential superstar and hasn't quite been that guy in the regular season consistently. So I get the point but not average either. Average is like 10, 3 and 2. Definitely a different monster in the playoffs as a member of the Heat though.

Nick had Luka 20th best player of the last 50 years 6 months ago with Jokic embarrassingly not Top50 and 6 months later doesn’t have Luka Top10 of last 20 years and Jokic (who was AMAZING for 3yrs before this year including in playoffs especially with context of injured teammates last 2 playoffs and never playing with another official all star, all nba defense) he has Top6-10 of last 20 years. Also Kenny Smith was not young on Rockets b2b title teams (and I love Hakeem he’s top3-7 GOAT tier imo as an all around 2 way player) he was in year 7/8! Nick gets some much stuff wrong it’s 😆. “Kenny Smith was SO Young he was SOOO young!” Kenny Smith was 29/30 years old in the 94/95 playoffs you goofball!

Firstly the list was a year ago with Luka coming off the back of a conference finals. He said multiple times throughout the Luka episode that he was projecting it because it would look silly when coming back to look at it, and that Luka did not have the résumé of a top 20 guy yet. Repeatedly compared it to Shaq on the top 50 list. Jokic hadn't done anything in the playoffs before this year. His team had never been title contenders (whether because of injury of not), he got played off the floor in the only conference finals he made, and yes had back to back MVPs (that Nick didn't agree with), but nobody considered him a top 3 player in the league. Now he's carried a team to the finals and is being widely considered the best player in the league whilst Luka missed the playoffs. You are the one missing the context!
@superdopehiphop
@superdopehiphop 11 ай бұрын
@@ryanwatkin3327 let’s tear apart your lies defending Nick Wright who you think knows his stuff but gets stuff wrong a ton (and I’m a fellow BIG LeBron fan, but not a Stan and also love MJ ad I’ve seen both 51/53x live center court row 9/11/13): 1.) It was 9 months ago not a year ago 2.) Jokic was a historically great 2x MVP who averaged 27, 13, 9, 2 stocks on insane efficiency at 25/26, 26/27 years old! very few players EVER have 2 MVP by 27! Nick saying he didn’t think he should of won was moronic and wrong 3.) Any player EVER missing their 2nd best teammate in b2b playoffs is not going to go far and last year he was also missing MPjr! Nuggets roster 1-10 the last 2 years was BAD with those guys hurt + no role players like KCP Bruce Brown or even an energy rookie with upside like Braun. Even with that Jokic was HISTORICALLY great in the playoffs BEFORE this year! You can be elite and lose to better teams with way more firepower and that happens throughout NBA history to Big O Wilt Jerry West Dr J MJ Hakeem Dirk LeBron Shaq etc 4.) Luka is amazing. He’s one of the best players ever at 23 and under when Nick made the list. I didn’t have a problem with him making it (although 20 was def too high and not having Reggie Miller on it was also amateur hour), but not having Jokic on the list AT ALL of Top50 of last 50yrs when he was undeniably one of the illest ever 27 and under was INEXCUSABLY horrid! 5.)Saying Joker got “played off the floor” in 2020 WCF is a lie. He averaged 22, 7, 5, 2spg on 53/36/85 in 33 mpg at 25 years old after being MVP of first team EVER to come back from TWO 3-1 deficits in the same playoff run! In the 2 series before that Vs good Jazz team and top2 title favorite Clippers he AVERAGED 25, 11, 6, 2stocks on great efficiency! That’s prime Larry Bird type stats! 6.) “Nobody considered him Top3 in the NBA” Unmmm yes they did just the talking heads you listen to like Nick Wright and a few others didn’t. People that know their stuff and are objective have had him top1-5 somewhere the last 3 years. In March it came out he was NUMBER 1 based on GM/media poll and Nick/Broussard acted like they didn’t know what they were talking about when the reality is THEY were both just late to the party. Nick said “he’s closer to 5-7 then 1” which is just embarrassing as only Giannis Joker were correct answer to best player in the NBA the last 3 years to ppl who actually know what they’re talking about. Nick was dead wrong on Jokic from day 1. “He’s the worst MVP of my lifetime” when the reality is he’s one of the best players of all time and now finally he has a healthy/good team around him! Luka to his defense inexplicably lost Brunson (just like Dirk on Mavs inexplicably lost Nash who was a least a little older but two bonehead moves by Cuban’s Mavs) so his TEAM isn’t as great either. The fact of the matter is Luka at 24 & under one GOAT for that age and Jokic same for 28 and under (but the same was true at 27 & under, but some goobers in the media like Nick Wright tried to downplay it when it was unprecedentedly great). The reality was also he just wasn’t watching them much.
@ryanwatkin3327
@ryanwatkin3327 11 ай бұрын
@@superdopehiphop the episode with Luka at number 20 was literally released may 2022. Couldn't be much closer to exactly a year ago... Jokic was an historically great MVP according to the stats yes, that's why he got the MVP in the first place. I don't have any problem with you claiming Nick was wrong saying any of the things he said about Jokic, my point is rather that he was never going to put him on the list when he thought those things about him. Jokic absolutely did get played off the floor in the WCF 2020, he averaged 33 mpg. For a face of the franchise to average that few minutes in a conference finals means he got played off the floor. That clippers team may have been top 2 title favourite but everyone knew at the time, and it's been shown since, they were frauds. He's been played off the floor in multiple playoff series against the warriors, Denver closed games without him on the floor even though the were missing people. Now he was never going to win those series anyway, but the fact his team couldn't even afford to have him on the floor speaks volumes about the player he was in the playoffs at that time. Nick has never said he has not been great in the regular season, rather that he needed to prove it in the playoffs, and this year, for the first time, he has. This year is the first year he's been truly great in a generational sense in the playoffs, not just through numbers but through impact. Now onto Luka, there's no doubt Nick is driving the Luka bandwagon, he has been on it since early and at the time the list was made considered him the greatest offensive player in the league (probably now unanimously Jokic). There's also no doubt 20 was too high for him given what he had achieved to that point. You yourself saying Luka is the goat for his age was the exact reason he was on that list in the first place. This list of the 10 best players drafted in the last 20 years is not a projection, it is based off accomplishment up to date. Hence the difference in rankings.

Mavs in 2011 finals were not even close to “huge dogs” and I know bc I bet on them. It was like +140 to +170. They had murdered b2b champs 2 seed Lakers 4-0 in WCSF killing then in point differential and gentleman swept Durant Westbrook Harden Ibaka favored Thunder in WCF. 2004 Lakers were massive favorites and lost. That’s by far the biggest upset to win finals in my lifetime and I’ve been watching basketball since the 80s! It’s rare there isn’t an episode where Nick doesn’t say something just factually false.

Heat can pull this off in 6 but they will have to be sneaky about it. The 2 games Denver lost against Phoenix. Jokic scored 50 points each game! Point is. NO ONE on Miami can stop Jokic too tall, too strong, too skilled. Don't waste BAM or your better defenders on JOKER. Let him score! Let him score 40,50 if you have to! But you can't have Jamaal Murray, Porter, Gordon, go off... Make Jimmy Butler lock down Jamaal Murray and let Jokic Score... You can't have both guys go off. Pick your poison. Let Jokic score since no one will stop anyhow and let him tire himself out. Don't let him pass to the 3 point shooters... that is the recipe.

@@deon3133 I, Agree but what I'm proposing is only way to have fighting chance. Jokic gets 40-50. rest of the entire team gets 50... keep the game at around 100.. 3 point shooters don't touch the ball for whole game. Get cold... miss key shots in 4th quarter... keep the game close. Jimmy closes the game in the end for Heat. RECIPE

@@josephmatthews7698 I watched the games... no one on Miami has the size to stop Joker... hence why I suggest what I suggested. Who does HEAT have a better chance of stopping? Murray or Jokic? Lakers was a very very stacked team. Hachimura played like a young Kawhi and Reaves was basically Ray Allen himself in the playoffs. And they had Bron and AD on top of that. Still got swept by Denver. This one might be quick.
@alvinjohnson2402
@alvinjohnson2402 11 ай бұрын
Hmm, not so fast, my friend. Lebron and the Lakers were not stacked. I always said they put a team together too late in the season to go far and win it all. The Lebron mystique fooled everyone. The Laker's depth was always going to come back and haunt them. Lebron doesn't really play agressive all-out defense, so teammates had to bail him out on plays. I said this in the season. And with superstars, most of the "plays" are called for them. What happened to the pick and roll with AD? I never saw Reaves or Rui involved in pick abnd roll? A "motion offense of triangle offense" would help the Lakers utilize their talents better!The Lakers look eerily like the Celtics. Iso ball at its worst. Just relying on Lebron or AD hero ball was not going to get them to the finals, my friend!
