Joe Strummer came to see my band after he performed a Mescaleros show in Minneapolis back in 1999. He loved our set and hung out with us backstage. One of the greatest nights of my life. He was kinda drunk but so fun to be around that night. I mean he was my hero. Joe is the real deal. Love this vid.

This video gives me a chill at the beginning every single time. Without fail. And I've watched it AT LEAST 100 times. I miss him so damn much. So much soul

Always ACAB even after dead. 22 years without him, but an eternal legacy only at the same level as his talent. RIP Joe Strummer, thank you for your music.

finally got the chance to meet him at the Tower Records in Hollywood. he and the band were doing a promo right before Global a Go-Go. I was one of the first in line, and got to stand right in front of him for the whole set. First thng Joe said on stage was "we don't need him right here, do we?" referring to the security guard who was standing right in front of him. The security guard kindly walked over to the side. After the 10-12 song set, it was announced that Joe was willing to meet up and sign things for anyone who wanted to after a short break, but the store forced us to line-up outside all over again, and being nearest to the make-shift stage, I ended up being at the back of the long ass line. I seriously thought I was gonna miss my chance to say hi after all these years, but stuck to it. It was another almost 2 hours, and Joe (and the rest of the Mescaleros) were still there, talking to people. I was star struck, and I've never gotten that way about anyone else ever. I shook his hand, and thanked him for all the great music over the years. He signed my From Here to Eternity CD. It was all I had in the car. He signed "OK, Rock! - Joe Strummer" RIP brother.

This is not his final performance of this song. He did this song many times in 2002!

A great cover. The Equals did it first, with Eddy Grant (electric avenue) writing it and doing the vocals
