Winging back banks on a narrow road with John Deere 624K with Craig Manufacturing wing and plow. Wish I had my chains on, it was real icy under the snow.

something about watching the snow curl over is very relaxing and satisfying to me, keep those videos coming, good operator.

Yeah, I would have to agree it’s more fun the more snow you have to push.

It’s a great setup. I bought the loader used and the dealer shipped it to the Hartland NB shop and had it installed by Craig.

I like how they actually lift the blade for peoples driveways that’s a great plow driver
@TB-jj9tu5 жыл бұрын
I try my best not to push in driveways, you just have to go back and clean them up and put the snow right back where it was. Sometimes you can’t help it if the banks are just to big. The bank at the entrances of driveways are usually frozen harder anyway.

That fist driveway I would have swung right turn which would have pushed that high bank back out of the way! One of my duties while working for the township was high banking using Champion grader , front bull blade, 14ft molboard , 14ft wing . The wing was post set up & not hydraulic like yours.

That was just a first pass, most of the road gets two passes second pass cleanup is when everything gets shoved back. First pass is just to get the bulk of the bank out of my way. I wasn’t running my tire chains either so I was probably being cautious about getting stuck.

Ok so I know that this is called shelfing and the idea is to cut the banks back so during the next storm you can put more snow there but my question is why not just wing it all the way down and push back farther?. Is it so the banks aren't so high?

There are a couple reasons I leave some bank behind. 1 is that the road is already plowed to the edge so scraping down to the ground means I have to deal with what ever is on the ground like rocks, stumps or just small humps in the ground. 2 it leaves a short bank so who ever plows next knows where the edge of the road is.

TB And so that any road traveler knows where the edge is ! I worked for the township in Canada 71-74 before the snow we cut & placed 1" poles (ends painted orange )at culvert ends, & rocks, stumps to avoid damages

Do you push it back so people can see over the snow banks better or so future snow has a place to go?
@TB-jj9tu5 жыл бұрын
We push back banks to make room for the next storm. I will push back banks at intersections so traffic can see oncoming traffic.

why not fold the wing in and just use the front blade.
@TB-jj9tu5 жыл бұрын
Because that wing is pushing snow where the machine can’t go like out over ditches. If I was just using the front plow I would be backing up a lot more often and getting stuck in ditches on rocks and stumps and hitting a lot more tree limbs with my cab. The banks are already on the edge of the road.
