Nice work! I was always too cheap to do all the closing wheels at once, ended up doing one or two a year.

I got a real good deal at Sloan Express. Still was not cheap, lol. Thanks for being here and watching.

Yes on adjusting them. I would love to switch to the upgrade with the T handle. Maybe next year.

@@TAHDAHFarm i have some used ones but the shipping alone would be costly. With shoup you used to get free shipping on larger orders.
@TAHDAHFarm

Over $200 and it is free shipping at Shoup. I've ordered extra stuff for the free shipping if I'm short and need to get it right away. If not it goes on a list and when I get $200 I order what is on the list, lol.

I replaced mine with a Shoup conversion tail wheel kit that used bolt on wheel that the bearings were 3 times the size of pin bearings.

I’m still surprised at your knowledge given the variety of equipment (including manufacturers) you seemed versed in repairing. Honestly, I’d have my nose in a shop manual about half the time. You’d be done repairing by the time I was done reading. Good job, Tim.

Thanks but I'll let you in on a secret, the job I have gives me a lot of time to do the research on what will need to be done, lol.

Hey Tim. Another great video. I have missed the last few videos so I have been binge watching tonight! Looks like some nice smaller, but necessary projects you've been working on. I look forward to seeing the new cultivator in action! PS - was that tool you used to pry the press wheels off specifically for JD planters, or is it universal? I thought you had a tuning fork in your hands at first haha ! I look forward to the next videos!

It is a ball joints fork. But I need the small one. I found a 5 piece kit on Amazon that had the size I needed. Thanks for stopping by and enjoying my videos.

I just changed half the wheels on my kinze over we are trying the spiked copperhead closing wheel on one side before we change the other half over ... they are not cheap so will be interesting to see if they make a difference
@TAHDAHFarm
@TAHDAHFarm 3 жыл бұрын
I looked at getting the spiked closing wheels but they are expensive. I got these for around $25, so I just did these. I'm only out $150 if I change them and will has spare parts, lol. Thanks for watching and commenting. Let me know how they work out. The plant is not no-till but I'm looking into upgrading with down pressure springs to be able to no-till.

That's a real nice planter. Got to do the maintenance on to keep the equipment going. My 7000 is at the machine shop getting some frame modifications. I'll talk about it in an up coming video. You have an experience with the row meters? I want to make sure mine is working properly before I start planting.
@TAHDAHFarm
@TAHDAHFarm 3 жыл бұрын
I have worked on the meters a lot. I covered some in a video about a year ago when I got a new monitor. Search "IH 1086 part 7" about 10 in I talk about it. With it all hooked up and on, you should see a led light down in the meters. It could be red or green is the most common colors. If no light it is not getting power, has a bad ground, or is bad. If you have a light, do like I did in the video and it it detects it then all should be good. If it doesn't then check the censor wire. I replaced the monitor because it was not working right in 4 row when on the grain drill.

Any chance you have resources on how to change the actual drive wheel bearing. Like the traveling wheels that always contact the ground? I’ve been trying to find a diagram somewhere because I’m fixing someone else’s work.

partscatalog.deere.com/jdrc/sidebyside/equipment/81550/referrer/navigation/pgId/22928 See if this works. If not go to John Deere parts. Under model search for 7000. Then look up your model and clic on it. Scroll down and look for "100 drive" then scroll down to "drive wheel (D09) 100-24" and that should help. Good luck.

What was the press wheel remover listed as on Amazon? I want to get one also, a hammer and screwdriver gets old after a while. Lol

Brand was KAKO and was listed as Pickle Fork Tool Set, Pickle Fork Ball Joint Separator Set. It had 5 different sizes from 11/16" to 1-5/8". I was tired of the chisel or screwdriver also. It was $48.99 and free shipping with prime.
