The cornfield joke in the beginning is a reference to a Twilight Zone Episode titled "It's a good life" where a kid has powers and starts to banish the whole town. It's actually utterly terrifying.

Man, how I wish this show was on HBO Max!

Never seen the Johnny show before, so surprised me to see this episode with the kid. It's a reference to an obscure sci-fi story called "It's a Good Life!" It's about a young boy in a mid-Western town who's born with God-like powers of telepathy and reality manipulation. The whole town has been teleported away from the rest of the world, floating in some featureless grey limbo, and all the citizens of the town are at the kid's mercy. Not necessarily an evil kid, but besides being sadistic, when he wanted to help his deeds could cause more harm than good. So everyone always acted and thought that "Life is good" so he wouldn't read their true thoughts and possibly hurt them. But when he did kill things, like a man who said he should never have been born (after turning him into some horrific abomination) he wished them into a graveyard in the cornfield. It's a pretty dark short story. And certainly something I'd be surprised to find referenced in a children's show.

In the twlight zone, the corn field was a meant to be a metaphor, but I love how the took it literal here!

This shows that you can do repeated comedy and land every time. I loose it whenever I hear the hillbilly music and the VCR trick. I didn't realize Timmy is voiced by Kevin McDonald, the voice actor best known for Peakley and Almighty Tallest Purple.

Unfortunately, I now find his King of the Hill look-a-like Boomhauer to be more down-to-earth. Fox so knew that the Cartoon Network had plans to make Johnny Bravo into a regular when they had Boomhauer dress a lot like Johnny and be a more successful one night stander who had more than a desire to go out with women. He could even screw the whooping crane protestor who reminds me of then-Cartoon Network head Ted Turner's then-wife Jane Fonda before Johnny was officially launched as a Cartoon Network regular. If Elvis had a history with Jane, it shouldn't be covered up. That FBI memo from December 1970 sure makes me suspicious about how he knew about her threat potential.
