One thing I think this video kind of gets wrong is that somehow characters in eyes of heaven were just *ported* into asbr, the thing is eyes of heaven isn’t really a fighting game, characters in ASB need new movesets to actually work in the 2D plain that they are now bonded to, also what 10 characters were they supposed to add that weren’t in eyes of heaven? We’re we really expecting them to not add Diego, Trish or Vanilla Ice? I’m not even trying to defend the roster by any means, it clearly has glaring problems but I’m not going to pretend that 10 characters were just copied and pasted and they called it a day (except for part 4 Jotaro I guess lol)

The "like hell i will" prompt is a Rohan quote,it also goes by the words "i refuse" back when highway star trapped Rohan he told Rohan to lure Josuke into the trap as well. Especially since eyes of heaven was super limited, they have to create new normals, stand attacks, stand specials, frame data, range. Like it isn't just a taken asset, they're taking the models and the visuals of supers. The rest up to them. It takes a lot of effort.

8:27 Have you ever even read Baoh? It's a very short and sweet story Araki wrote before Jojo and is referenced many times in the anime adaptations with small cameos. Ikuro was the final DLC character for the original release of ASB on PS3 and it's a very cool nod to one of Araki's earliest (and best written) works. You should probably be a bit less condescending honestly.

One thing you didn't mention about the training mode; there's no way to change your health in training mode, it's stuck at full with auto regen. This is a problem because there are not only low health mechanics, there are moves like Purple Haze Distortion that can only be used at low health.

weather reports stand was found by data miners in the files and his stand didnt make any appearences in the original game so the fact that it is in the game is a very good sign that he will be a dlc. I really would like to see how they can tackle weather in a fighting game other than an arena fighter like eyes of heaven.

I would guess parts 3 & 4 get the most characters because they have the simplest stands. It would be a lot harder coming up with movesets for the later stands.

I like how the extras fight have unique dialogue between characters who wouldnt normally interact. Also i hope they add more Jojolion characters but im not sure who. maybe Jobin would work best with his stand being a bit more direct in combat.

I can definitely see why you feel the way you feel, definitely not enough part 8 representation here and certainly there are some issues, but I gotta say gameplay wise it feels much better than asbr, the combos feel better and thank God there is a combo breaker. All your complaints are definitely valid though. Hopefully Joshu and Tooru get added as DLC. Personally though I really enjoy it.

They didn't really port characters from EoH, only the models. They still had to give them brand new attacks and combos.

Weather Report was found in the game's files, so he's gonna be DLC. The "like hell I will" line is just Rohan's iconic "but I refuse" line but bastardised. The localizers erased a lot of iconic lines and characters say a lot of stuff they would never say, even though most lines come directly from the manga. I think the localizers either aren't Jojo fans or Namco would have shot them for using lines from the fan translation.

I think the game is fun, and while the netcode is bad, i still can find good connections and have fun, also i think your point about the game being a port is off by quite a bit, as this game has very different mechanics from the original, such as assists, perfect dodges, and many characters moves were changed in order to change how combos work in the game, this is definitely more than just a port. Video was funny, i do hope they add more part 8 characters though but i feel you lingered on it a bit too much.

I was watching the video all the way through, HOPING, he would change his mind about the game, but all the guy had was personal gripes against the game and finding small little reasons to why he doesn't like it. Yes, sure, some of the new character's models in the game are straight up ports, but that's it, all their movesets, fighting mechanics, etc. are completely new and require time to come up with, while also making sure the characters aren't broken af. I mean, you keep complaining about characters being "ported" but you continue to praise the variety and unique play styles each character has, it's really contradictory. As for the content, you'd be surprised by how much extra content JoJo fighting games in general have compared to others. I honestly see myself scrolling through the gallery and buying new art, 3d models and medals for characters I don't even play. Also I understand that there's a lack of part 8 representation, but you got to realize that even though the part is already finished, that doesn't mean the average JoJo fan has caught up to that point, so it would make sense to just cater to the anime onlys. Also complaining about all star battle and arcade mode was just ridiculous. There was literally nothing to the original game's story mode, so having a mode that is sorta a small celebration of iconic JoJo battles while also obtaining rewards likes skins, music, art, etc. which replaces the original game's way to unlock cosmetics. You also brought that the Avdol vs Polnareff fight wasn't there, yet you proceeded to show off the thumbnail to play the fight. As for arcade mode, it's deadass in the name, AN ARCADE MODE. No ahit you're gonna be playing the same character several games in a row, that's the point of an arcade mode. If anything. As for online, that was literally the only thing you brought up that happens to be a good complaint about the game, but it's so unjustified because you didn't even touch the mode or even attempted to play a match,all you did is show of clips of moist critical playing the game. The reason why I've come to that conclusion was because you had no clue to what the card tag option was. You obtain card tags by fighting other people online, simple as that. From my experience on playing the online, it actually isn't as bad as everyone says, it works about 7 times out of 10. I usually just come across 1-2 people who have terrible internet before coming across players who have a good connection. The game doesn't just have a 60fps boost too, but the original didn't have any sort of hit stun, making it a lot more difficult to string combos together, or at least that's how I remember it being. Now to my last point, you said the game was fully priced when that itself isn't even true, it's actually $50. The price point would've been a valid criticism too, but you couldn't even get that right. The only thing that truly caught my attention was the medal list being in the customization option and not in the shop. Overall, this guy was making poor excuses to hate on the game, do buy it whether you like fighting games or JoJo, and if you don't want to buy it at full price, wait for it to go on sale. It's a Bandai Namco game, they literally go on sale in less than a year. Deadass eyes of heaven goes on sale all the time for $12 with it's dlc. Same thing is bound to happen for asbr. I’ve been an avid player since the PS3 era. I’ve always advocated that actually getting into a good connection match and playing someone is my favorite fighting game experience of all time, and still firmly believe that. In terms of balance and the characters themselves, almost every change is hugely refreshing. The problem arises when you have to deal with the numerous puddles of dog urine surrounding that piece of goodness in the game such as the mediocre offline modes, some lackluster voice performances, and the soul suckingly bad net code.

The reason Tooru and WoUwas so late is because nobody wanted to pursue him(and anyone who thought about it got hospitalized, but it was great as reference for his special moves), and Tooru took his sweet time to arrive of his own volition

It’s a little weird Joshu Higashikata isn’t in this given he was in Eyes of Heaven, so they at least have a finished model and some moves ready to go for him. Same with N'Doul, although he might be hard to work out into a character in a fighting game like this. I’m slightly surprised the story mode in this wasn’t just the Eyes of Heaven story mode brought over given Hirohiko Araki had some hand in that. Game could’ve used Walken from Baoh.

I love the hyperbole you keep putting into the video. It feels very AVGN. Sometimes it’s difficult to figure out which of your opinions are hyperbole and which are honest criticism but I really enjoyed your video overall. I feel like a lot of the “new content” in this game was more optimisation of gameplay. There were often reports of the gameplay of the original ASB being “clunky” and “stiff”. The only truly original content was FF, Everglades, Prosciutto and Ghiaccio. I’m of the opinion the lack of Part 8 content was a long term goal that would be fulfilled with time via DLC. Since NM Pucci is probably coming with the Kennedy Centre stage, it is more plausible that we will be getting more than just characters in the future.

Looking back I have to wonder if his opinion changed. Especially considering they're still adding more content even now. EVEN MORE SO that this graph now has another Part 8 fighter with Wonder of You. I won't lie, Parts 3-5 taking up over 70% of the roster is a bit nuts, but when you consider these 3 parts are the most popular for anime only fans I can accept it. This game is dead for online and still no rollback and they've said they won't be adding it either. If you can play with friends, this is the best IP fighter around hands down no question. BUT I do think there is something to be said about if they are going to keep adding characters that Parts 1 and 8 need more reps to really round this out and make it the best possible JoJo game available. It's not like they lack the ability and talent to do it either.

There is certainly a fine line these days between a port, a remaster, and a remake. But in my mind, a remaster is the video game equivalent of a film going from DVD to Blu-Ray or from Blu-Ray to 4K Ultra HD Blu-Ray. The game runs at a higher resolution and framerate than the original, includes tweaks to the UI and menus, and has several new characters and stages. Some of which (but definitely not all) are carryovers from EOH but the setup of that game is different enough to this one that it really isn't the same as simply reusing content. I think all of this more than qualifies calling this a remaster rather than a simple port. Although I do agree that it should have launched at a lower price point, maybe around $40 or so. Still a solid buy for any jojo fan that missed it on ps3. My only real complaint is the netcode, but I'm not a huge online guy anway (I prefer to play with friends in person if I can), so that isn't even a huge deal for me.

I'm looking forward to them adding in Weather Report (who wasn't in the initial release but was in EoH, so I'm against him being one of the paid DLC characters since he isn't a wholy new character) and the version of Pucci with C-moon and Made in Heaven (who was in the initial release, just not as a separate character), but I'd really like to see at least one more character from Jojolion and an updated move-set for Gappy that reflects the later chapters of part 8. Oh, and Stroheim and any other character who was playable in EoH should really be added to this game free of charge. I hope the remaining DLC fighters released will be ones we've never seen before.

I didnt play asbr and dont know balance changes but in old asb baoh was just a meme. He wasnt bad all around but he had more block stun recovery frames than anyone so something like air atack into a throw was unavoidable damage

It's the most well-known, so it has the most representation because marketing dictates it so that the game can recoup production costs.

Ranked mode doesn’t even work. It says you have a “rank” but you still get matched with people who can consistently pull off 50 hit combos while you just bought the game an hour ago.

Personally I don’t mind the reused characters from EOH because it allowed for the bigger roster. Notice how F.F, Prosciutto, and Ghiachio are the only new characters they had to make from scratch. Those three probably took a lot of development time whereas someone like Trish or Diego was easier to put in. Also, had they not put in these characters, we would’ve had a smaller roster and/or there would be a lot of people mad. This is especially with Speedwagon and Diego, guaranteed if they weren’t in, there would be just as many people mad as those who wanted Part 8 characters. Part 8 definitely deserves more representation. I haven’t even read that far (I’m on Steel Ball Run) and I agree with that statement. But we have to face the realistic facts, this game is for the anime fans, not the manga fans. We have the anime voice cast, the colors, they’re timing it with Stone Ocean. Heck, they changed Pucci and delayed his C Moon version AND Weather Report to avoid spoilers for SO. The team probably didn’t want to spoil the incredible stories of part 7 and 8 to the anime only viewers. Honestly, the fact we got Diego at all just shows how beloved he is as a character. It’s a shame that 7 and 8 don’t have more but that’s how it is, the dev team knew that a lot of people don’t have manga access and wanted to protect their minds from spoilers That’s my two cents on the matter. I honestly love the game. I’ve been wanting a new JoJo game for forever. Me and my friend play online with each other a lot, and aside from the occasional TRANSMITTING it’s an absolute blast.

What makes me angry is that we have some minor villains and allies in this instead of the more important ones. Like Straizo, Stroheim, Enyaba, Abbachio, part 5 Polnareff, Weather Report... where are they? But nah we gonna add some part 3 and 5 minor villains that were per 2 episodes. I'm not against them being in the game, but why not add those significant ones? But I disagree with the statement that characters from eoh added here are the same, because the gameplay is a lot different here then in eoh.
