I decided to dust off the heatless wave formers I've been holding in my closet for two years and put them to the test...but the concept didn't stop there. I wanted to compare the heatless wave formers to an iron wave former and things go a little out of control.

My son too! He's 20 and it's so thick and red and the ringlets are insane. It's his defining feature and he loves it now. It took him many many years to realize it. His father always wanted it short and then the pandemic happened and he's never cut it again unless I trim it slightly. But he already only washes it only 2 times a month and uses a boar brush to distribute the oils and he does fine. But yeah, he works the counter at a gym and everyone questions him about his hair.

Let him know in the 60's , 70's , 80's , men had all length for the hair and it wasn't a problem.

Oh how I love that you said you can’t part your hair down the middle, I literally get so angry when I can’t part my hair perfectly like in the vids, these frizzy curly locks just wanna stay tangled. Thank you for this, I feel so much better 😅

When I was taught to use the iron, I was told never to pull, but to push up. Do the first section, move down, clamp, THEN push UP instead of pulling down, like when diffusing. Does that make sense? That way the wave keeps the shape versus getting tugged down and straighten. Hope that helps. (:

Heatless here. No frying of my fine locks. I use Wen shampoo and trim my hair only when the moon is growing to stimulate growth. It works! Your hair is GORGEOUS‼️♥️

I have the same problems with the Wave Formers you did but I love the waves I get and the fact that there is no heat.

Love your videos ❤ With the tool - don’t drag it down the hair - open the tool each time, it will create tighter waves.

I’m sitting here LMFAO!!!😂😂 thinking, “I isn’t a flat iron.”. I was surprised you got any wave at all. Lol! And that is a HUGE wave iron. I have never used that one that big before. You would of never gotten waves as small as the other side with that huge thing. When you use that thing I like to start at the bottom and work my way up, then the ends are turned under and not pointing in every direction. You leave for about 20 sec and take it off not letting go of the section of hair, I match the last wave with the last barrel and work my way up the shaft, taking off and going up end to root. That way you get an even wave through out the head. Make sure you use heat protection, because this will kill your hair. I only do it once or twice a year and get many compliments. How that I see these wave formers maybe I get those. I tried the spiral ones before, I hated them. However back in the day, that would of been great for spiral perms. 💯

My sweet Johnathon, I loved this video! I'd still kill to have naturally curly hair like yours, problems and all! I've seen those heatless wave curlers online and wondered about them. I'm so glad you showed how to do them and how they turned out. My hair is almost to my butt, quite thick and stick straight and doesn't hold a curl for longer than 15 minutes. Do you think the wave curlers would work with using 2 to each section to cover the length??? Mmmm? Those triple barrel wavers suck! They don't work at all, no matter how hot you get them. I'm glad that I wasn't the only one with a problem with them. Keep the videos coming, have loved them all so far! Thank you❤

I’d give anything to have curly hair. My hair is so straight and I have baby hairs that stick straight out. My mothers tells me I look like I have horns. At least with curly hair it can look big and poofy and those hairs just blend in. Also, todays standards for curly hair are for it to have perfect coils which, yeah, looks nice, but I’m totally ok with the messier look. Julia Roberts circa early 90’s is hair goals for me. I’m so glad Emmy Rossum is now embracing her curly hair

I am a heatless curl fan. I cannot remember the last time I used heat on my hair. You were also using the heat clamp wrong. You section a piece of hair, put it in the clamp for ten seconds, then you open the clamp and while it is open you move it to the next straight part of your hair. I hope you understand what I mean. ❤

Seriously, I was so used to your silent, piercing stare while performing magic with your hair, that when you spoke, you took me totally by surprise. 😮😂 I have curly hair so team neither for me, tho I'd go heatless wave formers if I wasn't. The other was too big and I have similar problems with mirror coordination. I'd end up burning my ear off or something. Not a good look. 🤪

I hope you used a heat protectant spray or creme on the heat iron side. You could fry your hair in one go at 450°! If you did add something like that, could you please mention it(for newbies especially). I like the way you don't push specific name brand products at us, but TECHNIQUES that can work with things we may already have- so I don't feel like if I buy this I'll get hair like you. I never dry my hair. I put a cream in damp hair and then I braid my hair strategically and wear the braided look. Next day undo the braids and enjoy shiny waves.

The wave formers create a very defined wave (hence their name I guess) whereas the heat tool creates a much less defined look. I'm all about the definition so, Team Wave Formers for me.

I have almost the same hair type as you and when I use the wave iron I use it like a crimper and clamp it down in small sections from root to tip instead of pulling it through you have to hold on each section and then go down a little and hold it again. Super hard to explain sorry XD
