Spectacular images from the port of Semarang (Indonesia). The Panamanian container ship 'Soul of Luck' rammed the quay there on Sunday and destroyed a container crane. As if by miracle, only one person was slightly injured.
In spite of its optimistic name, the Panamanian container ship 'Soul of Luck' is particularly unlucky when it enters the Semarang terminal in the port of Tanjung Emas (Java, Indonesia). Spectacular images show how the ship inevitably steer on the quay, ram the quay wall and cause a container crane to collapse. Further on, the steerless ship hit another ship along the quay. Miraculously, nobody was seriously injured. Local media are talking about one slightly wounded person.
Nothing is yet known about the cause of the accident, which also involved three tugboats. The 'Soul of Luck' is a container ship with a capacity of 1,597 teu. It was delivered in 1997 and serves as a feeder. The ship sails under the Panamanian flag, but is owned by the Greek company Victoria Oceanway.
