As a young guy aspiring to be a comic you really just gave me a great lesson Josh. I've been constantly stressing because even though I haven't even really started to do stand up, I've been convincing myself that I'm pretty mediocre because I only have 1 good set. Because of that I've started to consider lying to make some of my other stories hopefully as funny if not more funny than that 1 good one. Because of what you said there at the end I'm going to try and stick to the truth and just work on making the truth funnier. And in general I just want to say thank you, I watch a lot of different comics, and try to learn from them as best as I can, but if I'm being honest no one has taught me about comedy and how to be a comic better than you have. Like you did here, and some of your other set analysis you've done have helped my confidence a lot.

I go to a lot of local stand-up shows and have even hopped on stage a few times. The best stories are the real ones and ones you are passionate about. The crowd can spot a fake really quickly. You'll kill it if you are true to yourself and remember, being you is the best way to be.

Oh god. I remember as a kid I used to hear my mom giggling from her bedroom along with my dad (back when they were still together). I was like “Huh, daddy must be telling mommy jokes”. And would just go to sleep. After I got my innocence broken (thank my middle school friends for that one), it hit me. What my parents were doing all that time were not jokes, but donut and banana time. I was just like “well then. Someone needs to be a bit more quiet at night.”
