for those who are curious about the origins of the name and drink, the korean name for the drink, dalgona, comes from the korean street snack, basically honeycomb/hokey pokey/seafoam candy that's served in a disc shape on a stick - maangchi did a video with a recipe for it (i think her video used the other name for it - ppopgi). the drink is named after the street snack bc the colour and taste is really similar! it came about bc a famous korean actor tasted a whipped coffee drink when he was filming a travel show in macau, and he commented that it tasted like dalgona; the show aired during lockdown in korea and people were inspired to try making it themselves at home bc boredom lmao. a lot of korean celebrities also tried making it in various videos! i remember 2idiots did a challenge where they had to make it with a random tool drawn from a hat, it was hilarious

it’s been 3 months since I watched this video and I still make this coffee almost every day even though I’m a little bit sick now and cold milk isn’t really good for me and btw I survived my uni exams only because there is so much sugar and caffeine in this latte so I could stay awake for days and feel almost ok (but that’s still unhealthy don’t do your school or job or whatever this way kids) so thanks to Julien, coffee gods and tik tok for that drink of the gods
