People feel insulted and wronged when they're asked to repay their loans. We always stress the importance of not loaning what you can't afford losing, but we should also keep in mind that we should never borrow money we can't afford losing when paying back. I skipped a quarter in college because I didn't want to borrow from my family, I knew they would give it but I also knew I couldn't afford owing that type of cash.
